bman,

Since Cashman now runs the show (part of his new contract as GM).... no more stupid input from those idiots in Tampa (Billy Conners et al Steinbrenner advisors).  They'll be developing more talent.  Yankees need will need a new core like the 90's guys Jeter, Williams, Posada, Rivera.

Billy Connors was the guy that screwed up Contrereas' delivery after he got her from Cuba.  Last year, El. Duque told him to pitch like a Cuban again (different arm angles, speeds etc).  Now he's blowing up with the White Sox.

Cashman now runs the draft also.

But I can't see the Yankees dropping 22 mil on Giambi 2009 (option year).  They'll pick up his option for 5 mil, and get/bring up a younger guy that can pound that RF porch.

This is the slow time in america.  NBA and NHL are over (not that me or anyone else even watched) leaving us the World Cup - 'Gro keeps tabs on it, but all the games are in the morning - and of course mid season beisbol.  Yawn.  Wake me up in August.

JT

Gro,

You can watch Rowan's Phil Silva snare a pass at Jets mini camp if you are so inclined.

Should we start put LD11 picture on milk cartons, or is it too early yet.

BDB

I guess you gotta be into the World Series of Poker, Gro.

It's on like 3 channels all the freakin' time with the celebs and all.

Watching other people play cards is not my cup o' mud.

Just watched a little skills bowling competition on TV at the tavern next door while having lunch. Bowling through a line of chairs, slinging your ball with a towel, using 2 balls on a 7-10 split...now that's some good sports TV. Almost wished I din't have work to do so I could sit there all afternoon, drinking pitchers of beer, watching funny bowling.

Ahh, the single greatest benefit of teaching- pitchers of beer and beisbol all summer long!

JA-
Did your school give you the option of getting paid in a 9 paid- 3 not paid or 12 month pay period?  What one did you choose?

reg...completely normal thoughts you are just looking out to help your fellow man and those less fortunate than yourself feel better about themselves and take out their frustrations for a day on someone....think of it as doing your good deed for the day...even if it means taking a cap for the team!!!

I felt like dropping some......

"YOU'RE BEAUTIFUL.......YOU'RE BEAUTIFUL......YOU'RE BEAUTIFUL......IT'S TRUE........"   But these people were nowhere near "Beautiful"

Our only option was 12 months, but they give us our summer pay in one lump sum in June.

I'm watching Anchorman and I'm wondering... what if Brian Fantana didn't go for the sex panther cologne and managed to get a date with Veronica Corningstone... and then they hit it off? Totally different movie. Very important scene in retrospect.

JA- WTF do you think I was asking????
Follow me here for a moment do you get 12 equal months of salary OR do you get some funky concuction of salary and lump sum.

Gro used to be paid on a monthly schedule.....on week 0-2 he would be eating NY Strips and going out daily....by week 4 he was eating Ramen and huffing gasoline.

Reg, Mrs Grad teaches. She has the option of being paid over 12 months or through the school year(Sept-Jun) but gets year round benefits. She took the school year pay..More $$ plus she socks away some of it to use during the summer.  Must say teachers have nice benefits as some of the stuff we would normally have to pay $$$$ for was like next to nothing..IE Lawyer for house closing, also she has great health benefits

I sit back by the pool in the back yard, cooler of ice cold Hamm's at the right, Jimmy Buffet playing a little melody in the MP3, and every 2 weeks goto the mailbox to get my "teacher welfare" check!!!!

It's nice when the kids are old enough to ride bike to their summer activities, the wife is at work, and I sit around getting blitzed, passed out, and sobered up by the time they all get home!

We get paid on a 12 month schedule (1/12 of our salary each month)  However, our paychecks only come for 9 months.   The difference is that our final paycheck for the summer is the total for June, July, and August (3/12 of our salary).

I assume this to be different than a 9 paid-3 not paid schedule   (i.e. we get paid only during the school year, and we get 1/9 of our salary each of those months)
