Whenever travel conflicts occur, it always seems that you catch the most crap from people who DON'T travel (i.e. the ones that have lived in the same 40 mile radius their whole life). And it usually involved burning a precious vacation day dedicated to travel.

Speaking of vacation, Gro is pondering a way to bump up to 3 weeks in 2007. Had gro's original employer not shafted him and sold his rights to another company Gro would have been entitled to 3 weeks in '07.

Seeing that 'Gro works 1-2 saturdays a month another week of vacation sounds like a no brainer right??

53 pages of unread posts later...

One morning the husband returns after  several hours of fishing and decides to take a nap. Although not familiar with the lake, the wife decides to take the boat out. She motors out a short distance, anchors, and reads her book.

Along comes  a Game Warden in his boat. He pulls up alongside the woman and says, "Good  morning, Ma'am. What are you doing?"

"Reading a  book," she replies, (thinking, "Isn't that obvious?")
"You're in a Restricted Fishing Area," he informs her.
"I'm sorry, officer, but I'm not fishing. I'm reading."
"Yes, but you have all the equipment. For all I know you could start at any moment. I'll have to take you in and write you up."
"If you do that, I'll have to charge you with sexual assault," says the  woman.
"But I haven't even touched you," says the game warden.
"That's true, but you have all the equipment. For all I know you could start at any moment."
"Have a nice  day ma'am," and he left.

MORAL: Never argue with a  woman who reads. It's likely she can also think

RE: Catching crap

Some people just don't get it....
Let me give this July 3rd wedding as an example....

#1 You are taking a valuable 5 day vacation away from Reg when he should be sippin on some sizzuyrup instead of sitting in an airport for 2 days- Priceless
#2 cost of flights- $450(I am being conservative)
#3 Hotel- $350
#4 Gift- $150
#5 Transportation- $50
#6 Dress for Mrs. Reg - $100 (You know you can't wear the same one twice!)
#7 Miscellanous crap- $100
For a boring wedding that is going to suck, the trip is going to cost me aggrevation, a vacation and $1200 bucks!!...Man I never added that up, but that is Rediculas!!!!

Cost of skipping out- $100 bucks.....maybe $150 if I am feeling generous.  They didnt give us anything at our wedding bc they were "just out of college"....woo woo.

If anyone on the LLPP decides that they want me at a wedding pleease refrain from using the following dates-

Labor Day
memorial day
New years
Xmas
July 4th

You are completely free to choose from any of the other 47 weekends of the year.  If you faill to comply with these rules, be prepared for the card to start out
Sorry we couldn't make the wedding....we really wanted to make it....FRRRRT

Flights are expensivo. Don't forget parking costs (economy parking at Atlanta is $10/day... economy??). Unless something pops up at work don't expect to see Gro in an airport until Shoes Game 2k6. Work travel is ok since you can get loaded on the company plastic.

JT keeps score... most of his crazy relatives (the cool ones moved away) live in/around Western PA. When JT was lil', his family usually made the treks out for Xmas, weddings, family reunions.   Except for the Grandparents, JT generally doesn't like these people.  These same people almost never come to NJ for: Graduations, Weddings, Funerals, Annivesaries, etc.

Grandfather now lives in GA near an Aunt.  Going strong at 90.  So as an adult JT rarely goes to family gatherings in PA.   JT's Mom tries guilting JT into going to more of these events, but to no avail.   At every function the same people get drunk and annoying.  JT bites his tongue for his Mom's sake, but the urge to throw a beating to a couple of these louts is strong.  So JT sees them about twice a decade.

Feel bad for JT's Dad... he has to go to the family reunions this Summer while JT watches the shop.  Someone has to watch the shop. Hopefully Dad won't kill anyone.

RE: Just Graduated College... so no wedding gift.  Charge an AMEX gift certificate or something. Geez!

#6----VERY TRUE

Just graduated college, can't afford gift.  KS always figured a way to put at least a fifty into a card when attending a wedding when money is short.

Amazing reporting. Compelling, and rich.   Is this stuff real?  Can someone really be that scared of pickles? Youtube is a great site. Glad work hasn't blocked it yet.

+k to all for the help and co-miseration over the travel to get together talk, advice, and b*tchin.

KR and Mrs KR are going, at least that is the current plan. KR plans to get reeediculusly drunk and encourage Papa KR to run the same road.

The chick afraid of pickles could be the funniest video KR has seen in many moons. One of Mrs KR's old roommates was afraid of snakes to a similar degree. Whenever she came over to KR's place senior year (which was wayyyyyyy too often) with Mrs KR, KR's roommates would pop Anaconda into the DVD player and start throwing rubber snakes around. You have not seen funny until you've seen a 21 year old badonkadonk female run out of a room and sit crying in the snow because there's "A rubber snake inside and it's gonna eat me."

RPI Sucks?

messing w/ youtube at work (can't help it)... run a search for RPI, found this video.

RPI Sucks Video

Bunch of RPI kids talking about all the bad things about the school: No women, Profs don't speak english... most of which are true, except one kid says he doesn't care about division III sports and I'd like to give him a D3 kick in the junk.

The funny thing about this video is that all these guys are complete tools. They are complaining about the lack of women when they probably couldn't even graze a boob at Florida State.

Yeah but it ain't a bad place to get a sheepskin from and those tools chose to go to RPI.  There are engineering programs at many chick heavy / party schools.

JT exited stage right from the first college he went to and found the drunken, loaded with chicks, party haven that was Rowan (GSC).  Rowan's a lot tamer these days, but JT still sees some nice tail running around at football games.

I always figured I should, at the very least, cover the cost of my share of the reception/meal. Usually a fifty will suffice.....except when attending a reception in the Blue Room of the Omni in D.C. where it's $75 a plate some 15 years and five kids (with another on the way) ago. Imagine a cousin who gets TWO little tax deductions in the SAME year without having twins?

Have a wedding in Plattsburgh on July 7....my cousin's son (who lives in Alfred) who's marrying an AU coed from the North Country. The ceremony is 11 a.m. Saturday, necessitating a night spent somewhere other than home.  Estimated 825 miles round trip @ 20mpg = 41.25 gal. @ $2.89/gal = $119.21 for gas; one nite in Bates Motel @ $49.95; at least three meals en route @ $8/meal (I eat cheap) $24.00; $50 bill in a 50 cent wedding card from Dollar General $50.50 for a total of $243.66. Am I forgetting anything? (Mrs. AUPepBand will not be attending.)

I must say family reunions/weddings/gatherings for AUPepBand are great fun. Only wish Mrs. PepBand's family did same.
