hate people who need to have 10min conversation in beep mode. hate sprint for buying nextel.
yes. and yes. If you want a walkie talkie, buy a walkie talkie. And usually when a company merges into another one, don't they usually actually take over? What's with keeping the nextel name and seperate plans and crap? ::)

KR has had dreams where he killed the lady who asks KR to "Please hold while the Nextel subscriber is located."

A.) Madden 2007

If you buy the Madden game, you have to listen to Madden's voice.  We had some old version of Madden football, where Madden basically says "The defense filled all the gaps and the runner had nowhere to go" after every single fricking play. Drove me nuts. I'd be doing something perfectly normal such as driving in my car or taking a shower and this line would pop in my head.  >:(

In a moment of exhilaration from being done with Boards, KR bought this beautiful reminder of simpler times.

It plugs straight into the TV and has BOTH Madden '95 and NHL '95. This is the only gaming system KR has to help keep himself occupied for the months of July and August.

Only problem with the game is that EA didn't get permission from the NFLPA to use the players' names, so everything is "Touchdown #89"  and Madden says "Heckuva play" anytime you gain more than 10 yards and "Wow, what a hit!" everytime you make a full on demolisher type tackle.

Overall, it was a great investment of $10. The place I got it from had a buy one get one free deal going, so if anyone wants the other one, drop me a PM with your real world address and I'll send it out.

Crap, KR accidentally slipped back into 1st person. KR apoligizes to all who were offended by this and KR vows to limit its recurrence in the future.
Now accepting new patients. All bills must be paid in scotch shortly after any services rendered.  Sorry TDT, no problems below the waist.

Discovered by the Germans in 1904, they named it San Diego, which of course in German means a whale's vagina.

Gro also has sprint and pays for the vision package for texts, picture mail, etc.  If I had to switch it would probably be to Cingular. They have great coverage (it's the only carrier that gets service inside my office).

And I hate that verizon guy.

USA Today Sports Weekly's college football preview is on newsstands now...

Bridgewater is ranked No. 13.

Check out their top 25.

Interesting....USA Today Sports Weekly's Top 25 snubbed the Empire 8 altogether. IC #15 in two other polls but not in the Top 25 for USA Today? Looks like USA Today pollsters have some Liberty League grads among them...Union, Hobart AND RPI in Top 25?

AUPB - It's ok. You can post this here. We won't bite.  Basically Union and Hobart are 2nd round playoff teams, and RPI's only losses came to those teams AND they have their skill players back on offense.

Why IC is not there I don't know.

Good to know you LLers don't bite. Rabies is always a concern around Mayberry, so one can't be too careful.

I thought it interesting that two other pre-season polls had IC at #15, I believe, but the Bombers didn't crack the Top 25 in USAToday Sports Weekly. Union, Hobart and RPI certainly are worthy of ranking. They proved themselves in 2005. And would have to agree with GB15 about questions at Ithaca. Fisher's late season collapse hurt the Cardinals. And while AU is moving in the right direction, the Saxons have by no means "arrived" at a place where they'll draw poll votes.

AU has an opportunity, with its 2006 home schedule, to make some noise (and our percussive recruits will come in handy in that regard). Open with Thiel (11-1 in 2005, second round team) at home Sept. 9....then after a Homecoming contest with Norwich, finish  season with Hobart, Ithaca and Fisher at Merrill Field.

I believe the fact there are SO MANY MORE D3 football-playing schools in the East (not to mention D-IAA and DII) who are all recruiting in the same neighborhood, dilutes the talent pool compared to other regions (South, West), where there are less schools, less opportunities to play. Thus, you have a logjam of good D3 programs in the East.... and a few great programs in the other regions. That's just a hunch, but the guru probably has already analyzed it and I've missed his posts.
On Saxon Warriors! On to Victory!

Aupepband, those d2 NE-10 schools are getting big in Massachusetts.  Merrimack, Bentley, Assumption, Bryant, St. Anselms and other schools are starting to put some $$ into their football programs and their taking away a lot of Mass talent that would go to d3 schools.

Rico 21

     how bout them Twins!

Alright, alright, before you smite me all to Hell, I know they're still 10-11 games back!

Actually, I hate MLB...   and I'm sick of watching poker, spelling bees, and tennis.  Let's get the season started!

Apple Jack

AppleJack wants to know if the buying power of the LLPP inc can get a deal on these for the up coming season....With the pain in the a$$ that public safety will try to be during the shoes game this could come in handy.

RE: Nextel

Seriously, could there be a worse cellphone company still in business?  EVERYTIME I call someone with Nextel I want to flip out.....you can't EVER have a clear conversation....the cell phone holds onto a signal even though it sounds like complete gibberish and their phones never ring while I have to listen to the message above.

Oh but that "bleep bleep" is what keeps people coming back for more.  Like I need to hear your entire 2-way conversation from the back of the phone which is basically a megaphone.

Now I know some people are going to write back "Oh Nextel has great service around _____" ...No, they don't....you may get lucky when your house is 1/2 mile away from a tower...and it may sounds good to you, but in 50% of my conversations with Nextel people, I just end up dropping the call bc I get so tired of trying to interpret the conversation.

Does anyone here ever run in to this?

Agree with everyone on this, friend has this and he doesn't even have voice mail with it and the phone reception SUCKS!  Mrs Grad & I have Verizon and are happy with it, plus Grad gets a 21%+ discount thru work... ;D  At one point Grad was looking into Nextel and found that most everything with it is extra(voicemail, 3 way calling etc)...

Grad still uses said phone....

It's a phone..thats all I need it for & I'm very happy with it

interesting rant over on SI.com about things in sports that are played out (gro refuses to use the term 'jump the shark'). The authors list is actually pretty stupid except for the Paris Hilton comment. I think there is some hatred between SI and ESPN.

I dont mind sportscenter, but I do hate when at 7:10 a preview comes up for a story or highlight that you want to see and they tell you its comming "up next", but they dont play it untill 7:50.

1. Sportscenter - I still like it. Not as good as it used to be with olberman, kilborn, patrick. These guys try too hard to be funny. Stewart Scott is just rediculas (side note: has his one eye gotten progressively worse over the years?). The hot seat, fact/fiction, etc. are ok to break up the mix.

2. Alternate jerseys - it's a business. You have jersey color #1, color #2, a white one, a black one, and a throwback. I like the charger baby blues.  What needs to stop is Nike's horrible college FB jerseys. You got a bunch of teams all starting to look alike with the same nike jerseys. Then you have oregon out there in left field.

Sportscenter started going downhill when Patrick and Olberman left, then it officially tanked when Eisen left for the NFL network. The guys that are left now are at best wannabe comedians who couldn't make it. They seem to know less about sports than a 5 year old T-ball player and they're not funny.

The other bad part about this is at least in the midwest, the local TV sports guys try to emmulate (sp?) them and be funny but they are even worse at it than the SC wannabes.

Is this just a midwest thing (I've seen it in Ohio, MN, WI and Iowa) or do you have it on the east coast and in the dirty south too?
