And Ithica gave up 41 to Hartwick who lost six games....This season has shown many of us in the LL that trying to compare teams based on common opponents sometimes works and sometimes doesn't....However, measuring a team based on some poor performances such as U vs. Coast Guard or Ith vs. Hartwick doesn't prove that much either....Zach doesn't think you ARE being realistic at all....It's freakin playoff time...Guaranteed U is NOT taking Ithica lightly based on that terrible performance vs. Hartwick....

It was either RT or Lewdogg that stated whatever defense could step up enough last week would win the RPI/Union game because both offenses are that good...They were correctamundo!!! After watching RPI, them scoring 42 doesn't surprise ZA....ZA wasn't happy about it, but let me tell you, that team has major talent in the skilled positions and an offensive line that pass blocks better than most.

GoBo15 predicts trouble for the RPI D. GoBo15 thinks that game will be even higher scoring than RPI/Union.

Hartwick scored a lot of points on Ithaca when I'm sure Ithaca's 1st team was on the sideline checking out the Cheerleaders......

Bottom Line- Union's D has not been good the last 2 weeks. It's time for them to get back to their mid-season form because Fellicetti is good and their Defense is good enough to at least make the U's Offense sputter.

If both teams show up, it should be a showdown to remember!

zachattack22

Reno, ZA does agree that if both teams play to their max potential, it should be three weeks in a row of exciting football.

Statistically speaking both Union and Ithaca are very close in all categories.

Category, School, Nat. Rank,  Avg. , School, Nat. Rank,  Avg.

Total Offense                 UC  25 - 439.8 ypg       IC 23 - 442.2 ypg
Total Defense                UC 60 - 304.8 ypg        IC 118 - 349.7 ypg
Rushing Offense            UC 49 - 192.9 ypg       IC 87 - 168.3 ypg
Rushing Defense          UC 51 - 114.0 ypg       IC 128 - 152.6 ypg
Passing Offense            UC 48 - 246.9       IC 27 -  273.9 ypg
Pass Efficiency Defense UC 41 - 98.8 ypg       IC 97 - 113.8 ypg
Scoring Offense             UC 66 - 29.0 pts/gm       IC 21 - 38.1 pts/gm
Scoring Defense            UC 33 - 16.0 pts/gm       IC 110 - 23.3 pts/gm
Turnover Margin            UC 16 - 1.3       IC 96 - 0.2
Team Kickoff Returns     UC 127 - 17.93        IC 45 - 20.89
Team Punt Returns        UC 113 - 8.06        IC 100 - 8.64
Team Net Punting          UC 160 - 28.69       IC 89 - 30.89

Considering Defense and special teams wins games at this point in the season, Bobby would have to give the edge to Union.  U's Defense is better in all statistical categories, with the two most important being Scoring Defense (allowing 16 pts/game) and Turnover Margin (+13).  IC has a slight edge in special teams, but when bobby looks at the averages, theres not much of a difference.

Bobby is predicting a very close game, but gives Union the edge 28-24.

On a side note, being a little bit into cameras, but mainly with the secret aspirations of photographing swim suit models, did anyone notice many of the pics for the RPI/U game?  They were some great pics taken by Pat C.

Rolevio particularly liked the last page pctures with just the helmets and the shoes trophy.

Rolevio is also anxiously awaiting Gro's throwback post and would like all to know he thoroughly enjoyed hsi steak and cheese sub he had for lunch today.

If Ithaca only scores 24 points or less against Union's sieve defense, Gobombers15 will never post on the football post patterns again. Book it.

Sure I will. If Ithaca scores 24 or less, they're going to lose. What point would I have to continue posting? The other E8 teams will be done, too. I said "football" boards, so I will still be running my mouth over on the hoops "posting up" page. Next year, I probably won't post because I'll be back in NoLA and Louisiana State Law requires  that nobody talk about any football matters other than Southeastern Conference Football.

Either way, it's a moot point. Ithaca will score in the mid-30's to low-40's against the U. I'm not even worried about this game. In fact, I already booked a hotel room in NYC for next weekend. I figure after we beat Rowan, I'll go into the city to celebrate.

100ish miles. Traffic shouldn't be too horrendous on a Saturday afternoon.

Actually, Zach appreciates that post about 24 points because he never knew how to spell that word that means something to the affect of "leakage"...

Besides job survival advice, ZA is learning how to spell...(That's IF that was the correct spelling)  ZA does know how to spell Jenna Jameson though!!!

hey ZA, she was a great actress in Howard Stern's movie.
