Union's all american wideout got injured in the brown scrimmage. I think people should not be so quick to put down Union. We should give Springfield more credit. They played very well on offense and made no mistakes. When run correctly Springfields offense is very tough to stop. I think we will see how U's D plays against a more conventional offense next week against muhlenburg. Union managed to put up 30 points without their leading receiver who had 1600 yards last year. Union will bounce back. Dont count them out yet.

I'll give springfield credit too. Gro was just at the Tenn/Air Force game and AF's option game gave the vols fits (TN ended up winning 31-30, AF scored twice late and went for 2 to win but came up short). Air force's players were tiny compared to TN's, and 105,000 screaming fans did not help thier offensive audibles. This was gro's 1st Vols game and it was a cool expierience.

Anyhow.... point being, a well run option offense is hard to stop. your Def needs to be very discliplined and play conservative. Its not a conference loss for Union they should be allright.

Gro, how was that game/atmosphere?

And in my 10-15 years of watching Springfield College playing, I can say that when that offense is running on all cylinders, its very hard to stop.  Ive seen great Ithaca defenses and teams get pounded by mediocre record Springfield teams.  Gro's right when he says how you have to be disciplined.

And Bobby you are right about Unions oline from last year.  I thought they were very underated and not talked about much on this board.  When I saw them live, they dominated in the Ithaca game.

The U will be back Im sure.

And was that other WR for Union from last year back this year?

Re: Orange Nation

Pro's:

The stadium is literaly the 4th largest city in TN on gameday. Any time AF tried to audible the place would light up. It felt a lot louder than a NFL game. There's no track so you are right on the field. The TN fans were pretty classy, they don't heckle the Air Force Academy (I was told it's a lot different for any other team). The student section was on the opposite side they were pretty rowdy. Huge tailgating section pregame. Orange everywhere. Would love to go next week for UT/Florida.

Cons:

Our seats were actually too close! I found myself watching most plays on the big screen so I could see the formation and see the play develop. UT has a nice fight song, maybe some of you have heard of 'rocky top'?  Well, it's a great college song... if they didn't play it 25 times during the game. They don't just play it when they score, they do it on long plays, getting in the red zone, turnovers, etc. It was played out by the end of the 1st half.

overall experience 9/10

Union is going to drop more than a spot or two.  Voters will respond to the fact that one of their top weapons is out for a while.  They might've dropped even without the loss tonight.

Good Lord, you weren't kidding!  ...all the way down to 22.

RPI appearing on the Top 25 must bring joy to some members of this list.

Rev likes Hobart right where it is (for now).  On the Top 25, but not so high up that we have to live up to unrealistic expectations.  Rev wants to see a few definitive victories under the Statesmen's belt before The Rev gets too cocky.

Reg back in the mix....good game RPI....
U...kind of disappointing, I guess that's why you are supposed to schedule cake teams for the first game.

RE: COLTS VS GIANTS

Who's idea was it a few years ago to let these guys start to introduce themselves....all they need to say is there name and college.
I am listening to these mumble f's and they cant even get THAT right....(i.e. wtf does "Mr. Nickles....The penn" mean?)

You have some other cats rambling off other crap that just gets under my skin....listen guys, if you want to play for the XFL and print "HE HATE ME" on your jersey, go for it....until then, I will take your name and college and save the ghetto jibberish slang for your "homies"

For the duration of KR's current rotation, all patients must address KR as Mr. Nickles. Anyone with any questions can contact Mr Nickles at the School of Hard Knocks.
Now accepting new patients. All bills must be paid in scotch shortly after any services rendered.  Sorry TDT, no problems below the waist.

Discovered by the Germans in 1904, they named it San Diego, which of course in German means a whale's vagina.

Rt Rev -

The only guy on Hobart's side who played like a top 25 player was Mizro.  At least the D rose to the occasion in the 4th quarter.

This week we have WPU - let's hope we see a better effort vs. the NJAC than we did vs. the CC.

Yeah,.....that's it.  What is the school of hard knocks?.....are you Jay Z?.....are you any worse off than the other 30,000 kids that go there.....school of hard knocks....

Reg may require everyone to address him as Mr nickles....and only when somoene asks him where did you find that out or where are you from will he answer "the school of hard knocks....where "magic" and "quake" reign supreme"

Seeing Adam Vinatieri ina Colts uniform is rough.  I mean, I like the new Pats kicker, and I don't blame him for getting the money, but does ANYONE like the Colts?  I hate them.  I did take older Manning tonight in the Dork Bowl, -3.

Week 1 has been good to LD11.  Made a little scratch.  Eventually it will probably all dwindle away, but for now, it's a nice cushion to start the season.

RPI in the top 25 this early in the season?  That HAS to be a record.  It usually takes voters until week 7 to have RPI crack that esteemed group.

And to Union, while it makes me light up inside knowing weasel Audino lost, I now have this Liberty League spirit, and especially against an E8 team, that just sucks.  And while I know Springfield has probably vastly improved, Union came into the season with MUCh higher expectations than them, and either Sprinfield is just a better team then Union, Union isn't as good as expected, OR Union just didn't show up and got outcoached and/or outplayed.

LD-

I am curious what you cats are betting on these games...and what exactly "a little scratch" means....is it $200....is it $25....Is it a G?

Reg won a 4 game parly for $50 bucks and I was happy that I made some money while keeping saturday interesting for me.  I wouldnt consider that a little scratch....so I have to ask.

I won like $60 and I have another $20 on Indy tonight.  I made a ton of $5 and $10 parlay bets.  With 2-team parlay, if you win 1 out of 3 bets, you win $$$.  My entire reason for betting is not to make $$$, but because it makes the games more interesting and exciting.  I just don't have enough $$$ anymore to be relying on a bunch of dudes who probably care less if they win(T.O.).

That's all, with a few fun little bets, and my fantasy football league(not the LLPP league), I don't have too much riding on that one, it keeps my Sundays as my favorite day of the week.

And by 'scratch' I mean it more on the lines of additional betting money.  Not money to buy a new key lime green polo.
