Regu-haters comments notwithstanding (I think that was the first time I have ever read someone trash the Bart's campus and facilities, but hey, I am sure Troy was MUCH nicer by comparison);

Reguhater can comment on whatever he wants.  I think the campus looks nice......is that why I was there??....NO.
The facilities, yeah they are great....did I give a crap?....NO
I was going to college for 2 reasons....not in order of importance-
football
a job after college

When I went to Hobart and have the admissions person telling me about what they offer and how it is some screwed up compilation of what other colleges have as standard degrees in order to find a niche with some crazy liberal arts degree.  If this is NOT hobart, my appologies....but I am pretty sure that is what I gathered from that interview.  I stopped paying attention after I had to listen to the over-caffinated admissions girl tell me how happy she is that I am considering the college with the biggest smile i have ever seen
Oh yeah....from the look of the majors they offer, it looks mostly like niche stuff.  I mean, who WOULDNT want to major in Urban studies?

Breaking News........

NEW: Standardized-Tests Optional Hobart and William Smith Colleges are now standardized-tests optional. Beginning with the current admissions cycle, students can decide whether or not they want us to consider SAT or ACT scores. See the full announcement of the new policy.

Why didn't Harvard think of this!!!!

labart96

I don't know Reg.  There are a lot of Hobart guys who were American Studies majors who are now making bank on Wall St.

As for the SAT optional, Hamilton and SLU went that way too and both are pretty good schools IMO.    Besides, if HWS can say that "In the past three years alone, students and recent graduates have received prestigious national and international academic honors, including a Gates Cambridge Scholarship, the Rhodes Scholarship, two Fulbright Scholarships and the Goldwater Award", the Admissions office must be doing something right.

'Gro was once honored to win the "Nastiest Twin of the Week" award while at RPI.

Gro,
I think the NTOTW is on par with the Fulbright scholarship, any day.

I can't argue about the school because I don't know enough about bart....that's a given.

I know it wasn't for me.....

sincerely yours-

NTOTW = Fulbright

At least we agree on something.

Garnet

Is Budcrew saying Endicott is just as good if not better than Springfield in the ATR column? Or is Garnet reading too much between the lines?

Tlm

Actually, it's hard to tell what Budcrew is saying in ATR.  He says that he picked Union to win a LL tiebraker (presumably 3 way with Bart & RPI), but now has RPI on top with the win over Endicott (presumably by virtue of Union's loss to the Pride and Bart's near miss vs Dickinson).

If he means that RPI is on top of a 3-way tiebreaker, he may be correct vs the U since RPI has a jump on the better non-conference record that would settle a 3-way tiebreaker.  If he means that RPI is now favored heads up against the U on the basis of their win vs Endicott and Union's loss vs Springfield, I would say that's a bit of a stretch.

can angiletta (sp) redshirt this year? don't know much about broken collarbones, but why come back and be 80% for a few games when he can be a full time contributer next year?

And gro is not saying that so he doesn't play RPI this year. Just saying that if he has options (co-ops, internships, brah brah brah) why not take them.

Tlm

If you play one game during the second half of the season, you can not take that season as a medical redshirt.  A medical redshirt is applicable only if you play in less then 1/2 of all games and those games are all played during the 1st half of the season.

So if Angiletta suits up for only one game this year, and it happens to be RPI, that constitutes his senior season.

Garnet was thinking the same thing.  Why not take a medical redshirt year and play in 2007?

Tlm

I don't disagree with either rationale for Angiletta deciding to take a redshirt year and come back in 07, but there are a couple of other factors that may enter into his decision.

Angiletta rooms with Twitchell, Arcidiacono and Marotti and I suspect that if Union is still in the thick of the LL race coming down to the last two weeks of the season, and Angiletta can play, he is not going to want to let down his roomies.

Collarbones are funny things.  Years ago, I saw a high school receiver break his collarbone and come back in 4 weeks.  Everyone heels differently.  The standard is 6 weeks for a clean break.  If surgery is required it can be an entire season.  Since Coach Audino was quoted as 6 weeks in the Gazette, I assume that Angiletta has a clean break.

I suspect that whether or not Angiletta comes back this year will depend on 2 things: 1) Is he healthy?  2) Is Union still chasing the LL title?

LD11 lived with Gro and Regulator and I felt the same pressure you are decribing.  Every now and again, Gro and Reg would come home with a girl, and LD11 would sit in his room on Saturday morning, listening to them talk about their Friday night triumphs over breakfast.  Then by 5pm Saturday evening LD11 had enough of it.  He would break into Gro's bedroom, steal a spritz of his Nautica Sport, maybe even shotgun a wine cooler, then go out and join the party.  By Sunday, LD11, Gro, and Regulator would be smelling each other fingers, in an apartment no longer ridiculed by jealousy and angst.  Peer pressure of roommates is an extremely difficult challenge to overcome.
