PBR -

Any chance you'll be coming out to Pasadena for the annual Big 10 beat down at the hands of USC?

TGP- Work Holiday Parties?  Seriously?.....

Do they still have those or have they been "eliminated"?

Pared down, no expensive dinner (last year was at a top steakhouse), but still happening. We aren't that big employee number wise.  JT actually prefers the in office party, since there is no schlepping around Manhattan.  JT proposed putting all the party dough into one slamming office party, but was voted down.   So the money is divided into two... although the office party is usually partially supplied by our vendors.  Vendors give us booze, candy, cake and other goodies.  Our primary trucker comes with a six foot hero, wine and beer.

Don't know if our vendors are cutting down on the swag just yet, gifts are just starting to roll in.

MJT's company party is not happening, last one sucked anyway.  Her company needs some engineers that know how to party like LD, Gro, and Reg.  Most of the doods in her office are tools, but the single chicks tend to be on the easy side.

pbr has discussed this w/ a former coworker of yours and at this point that is a negative ghostrider....pbr will be staying on the homefront to watch psu do a double monkeystomp on the best payed athletes in college football a.k.a usc....joe pa's bowl record speaks for itself, you give his staff 30+ days to work up a game plan and they pretty much crunch everyone in their path. even better is everyone saying usc should be the national champion and psu gettin' no respect. for some reason vinny testaverde and jerome brown come to mind....

pbr misses the old xmas party days when the company rented out tavern on the green or museum of natural history for the night, absolutely legendary parties especially when west wing and other t.v. shows always kidded about asking if we got our invite to the bberg xmas party yet. you rolled in to nyc on the a-1 limo's and if need be work got you a taxi home. throw in top shelf booze i.e. scotch/water 99% scotch and a hair spray mist of water across the top, and no spouses and things got waaay out of hand many a time

Slow down... Gro is the only enginegro out of the bunch. The other 2 do not qualify for either half of that distinction ;D   While not being engineers, both LD and Reg can party and they are rediculasly good looking

p.s. Gro's company party was cancelled... but the magician still kept his deposit.   Yeah, a magician... lame.

So does that mean that LD and Reg kept Gro from dorkdom while at RPI?

Last year, the enginedoods at MJT's company were still talking about building designs, structural integrity, HVAC and other ish while a gaggle of single chicks (all were between a 5-7 out of 10) were dancing together and getting sloppy drunk.  JT tried to point out the easy pickings... but couldn't get any of them to step up.

At KS office we will drink the bottle of Johnny Walker Blue that one of the trucking companies sends us.  Otherwise no party from the company.  KS works at 230 5th, the building will get the rooftop bar to cater a building party next week for a few hours.  Free drinks and horse d ovaries, a few sloppy drunk sales people from various companies, it can be entertaining.

This is a joke right?  A magician....what's the matter, was puff the magic dragon booked?

So, who else has a party?  I'm very surprised so many companies still do this!

Re: xmas party

The powers that be were just trying to top last years comedian... he was terrible. Honestly if gro had time to come up with a routine he could have outplayed that chump.

This year, they changed the location to some lodge/hotel out in the boondocks in a dry county.... the saturady before xmas when most people would probably already have travel plans... and booked david blane's broke ass 3rd cousin. WTF.  So glad it got cancelled.

Touchdown Tommy

REG you butt pirate.  Holiday parties are the time to "get acquainted" with the hot piece of trim in HR as the Ghost of Holladawg would say.  How can you dog these things?  Usually a few gifts, maybe a Clark Griswold Christmas Bonus, and plenty of bevies to warm the soul.  Get with the program!!!

Gro believes that everyone at RPI, weather they believe it or not, has some dork tendencies.  That includes those evil mangement majors. Nobody choses a tech school out of the blue. It is because they love their TI-85 calculators and MS Excel. There's no shame in having some smarts.

BOL - k+ - TGP can actually see how there probably were former (and now current) students at an Engineering school named Lando and Hans.

Classic.

Re: work party - not likely this year given the market crash.  Last year was financed directly by our Division President at a bar and TGP even graced the stage with his rock band.  PBR's good buddy played lead - his kid was on bass - not bad for a rookie - in the "opening act" (although it was the one most folks actually saw).

The band was appropriately named "90 Days Down".

Some Cap Mkts humor in the waning days of CCM.

Re: Rose Bowl.  TGP will likely only attend if tix drop into my lap as they did last season.  Would love to see a competitive game for a change.  OSU, ILL, Mich have been piss poor.  This PSU team looks legit and given our offensive struggles (TGP not sad to see Sark leave for UDub), this will be a low scoring affair with tons of NFL style defensive play on both the PSU and USC squads.

TDT, your 'idea' of a Christmas party is extinct, unless you work for Maxim.  In Reg's case, he doesn't.  In Gro's case, he doesn't.  LD11, he has an office party every single day in the comfort of his living room.  (TDT - Thanks for coming out for the LLPPFFL this year.  Maybe you'll get em next year)

So PBR, you wanna throw around the Commodore 64?  Below is a picture of a young LD11 and young older bro LD back in the day opening up their Commodore 64.  The faces have been blocked out for the sake of anonymity.  I guess 'Gro is right, we all have a little dork in us.
