Good job to all who worked the Stagg.  Maybe one day ESPN will let the D3 pro's handle it.

Congrats to AJ for taking the LLPP Fantasy title.

TGP enjoying the drama of the SNF broadcast.  Giants just score and go for 2.  It's good!  TGP loving this game until......

the NFL cuts to a Cialis commercial.

Seriously.

WTF?!?!?

And not showing a replay of the beautiful fake that Eli and Jacobs pulled off.

Susquehanna's Bobby Eppleman and John Lunardi made the D3football All-American second team: http://www.d3football.com/tow/08/allamericans.htm

Doing a quick skim, I see fellow LL'er Gerard Bryant from St. Lawrence on the first team as well and Justin Hager from Hobart on the second team. Ryan Aruck from Hobart made the third team. Congrats all!  :)

KS always thought that was shat.

Shat is the past tense.

I **** myself at least once a year. (present)
I shat myself yesterday. (past)
Just after I had shut myself, I realized I had no toilet paper. (perfect)

Of course, this is all BS, because in proper English 'to ****' does not change with the tenses, just as 'to hit' does not change.  But, I still like to pretend it does.  The Rev is easily entertained.

Still hoping to get a spot in the LLPP fantasy football league next year ;D I would be sure to use as much inappropriate language as needed and train as much as possible in the off season to have a solid rookie campaign.

Any of you NYers who were telling me that LeBron going to New York was a forgone conclusion have a comment on the developments from this weekend?  In case the New York media missed it (ESPN buried it on the NBA page, but LeBron saying Brooklyn is his favorite burrough is the lead on SportsCenter), LeBron said he would consider signing an extension with the Cavaliers at the end of the season because he thinks the direction of the team has been all he's asked for and more.

It doesn't mean he'll stay necessarily, but it does give credence to my argument that he'll go wherever he thinks he has the best chance to win.  And if the Cavs can bring in Bosh is 2010...I look forward to a Cavs dynasty.

dang counselor a.k.a frank the tank...nice work and well done...

in all seriousness frank pbr really enjoyed reading your blogs. they all were well done and a great read. thx to you, pat, gordon, ryan et. al. at d3sports for doing a great job capturing the atmosphere at the game and giving great insight.

Thanks for the kind words, uPBR... and thanks for reading.  I know at times the blog entries were pretty long (especially the final one), but I know a lot of fans have not been to the Stagg Bowl and should understand that it's not just a football game.  I know I sounded at times like the Salem Chamber of Commerce President, but everything I wrote was sincere.

My overall insight regarding the week is this:  we always run the risk that a championship game like the Stagg Bowl can be a one-sided affair -- a bit of a concern if you're not a close-knit fan of either team.  However, it's still worth the trip for those same fans of Division III Football if you can invest more than just the one day to visit the area because you can easily get enveloped into a familial atmosphere and get to know teams you might not otherwise know.  Like I said, I walked into Salem a little blah toward Mount Union and maybe even a little blah toward Whitewater.  By Friday, I was excited for the matchup.  Saturday, when I stood midfield and watched the fireworks during the postgame festivities, I had a sense of pride that's tough to explain.  Maybe I'm a cheeseball, but it's really an awesome experience.

Agreed.  Didn't get any bites on my question as to why Hager didn't end up on the first team (IC's LB did) given he had almost 40+ tackles more than most of the other guys on the list.  Either way, great accomplishment for all the guys regardless of 1st, 2nd or 3rd team.

Nah, TGP can't imagine a Union grad being cheesy......well, then again, there's always a lot of:

You Tube video of the day.

Hard to tell if he was playing around or actually pissed. Anyone hear anything about it? Looks like a lady got drilled with that huge snow chunk he threw. Either way the Jets flat out suck! How disappointing was yesterday for a Jets fan? Well as Broncos fan I can identify. I almost wish San Diego wins next week because Denver DOES NOT deserve to make the playoffs. It's a shame the D is atrocious and Cutler is basically out there with no help...hey sounds like Hartwick!

The Broncos suck!

Well, the Boltus fan base seems more ready to crucify someone by Boltus's MIA status in the D3Football.com All-American teams -- so, in some ways, the Hager snub is muted by the Boltus snub in many people's opinions.  I can attest to the fact that the QB scenario was one in which somebody (or a few QBs) would be very unhappy with the final results.  The fact that Jimmy Robertson didn't even make the All-East team was a tough pill to swallow -- but it shows just how loaded we were at QB across the nation this season.  With LBs, you have to give some deference to the Whitewater defense first because of their ability to temper the Whitewater offense's troubles really finding a real rhythm early in the season.  That defense held Mount Union to just three points in the final three quarters (the interception return for TD was not a defensive stat) -- proving their true strength after the first quarter onslaught.
