Does everyone remember Y2K and the panic that ensued before during and after said event?

Well, tonight, 12/31/2008 at 11:59:59 the Viacom contract with Time Warner ends.  Unless a new agreement is signed before that time, MTV, Comedy Central, Nick, Noggin will no longer be broadcast.  This event may be BIGGER than Y2K.

Seriously, MTV!!!  I bet Obama will fix this.

KS was watching Nick last night with the Stalkerette and they ran a constant scroll about Time Warner and one other cable company that will no longer have the Viacom channels and to call the cable operators and complain, they were even giving the toll free numbers.  Customers again screwed by mutual greed, just like the NFL network.

:o PG is so glad he has Comcast!  No losing basic channels or local broadcast channels for me!

PBR,

Veteran move with the carriage.  Seriously, what won't people do for a couple bucks or if you drop some names.  (Reg often uses his first name and someone importants last name when making dinner reservations over the phone when the place is only taking reservations before 5:30 or after 9:45.....usually works well to get me in at 7pm)

2nd- I am not converting to the dish.....so TWC better ante up to Viacoms crazy contract extension.  Super Sweet 16 or BUST!!!!

Happy New Year to the LLPP brethren and their families! Hope everyone is safe and has a nice night! Right now I am watching Rocky 4! Needless to say I am stretching out and doing push ups in anticipation of the bout with the Russian. Stallone with a beard carrying a tree in five feet of snow is classic and inspires even the smallest of us italians. Happy New Year!

Did anyone catch Dick Clark last night?  Was that a robot or did someone tie fishing line to his lips to make him talk?
I am all about him doing new years for like the 87th year in a row, but turn it over to seacrest already, because it puts a damper on my mood.

Seacrest, OUT.

I have mixed emotions about this, though -- Dick Clark should be able to co-host it for as long as he chooses.  My thought is that he'll make it until 2010 and call it quits.  However, I agree with Reg that it's a tough scenario watching Clark, especially since it almost feels like he's going backward in his recovery from the stroke from a few years back (actually, my thought is that maybe he suffered another, smaller stroke over the year, based on his performance last night?).  Seacrest wasn't doing much better outside as his lips could barely move (insert bad Jonas Brothers/Seacrest love joke here).  Kelly Pickler was a real trooper because, having gone clubbing down here in NYC right after the ball dropped, I was friggin frozen in a matter of ten minutes.

Prepping to hit the gym and then watch the second half of the Rose Bowl over some wings and beer.  Enjoy the rest of your New Year's Day folks.

Pac10 showing the east coast bias (yet again) it's the real deal.  5-0 in bowl games.  Best of all BCS conferences.

It's really a shame SC didn't get a shot at OK or FLA.  Probably would have beaten those guys too.

I dont see how anybody can beat USC when they show up to play.

Happy New Year to all.  After dropping coin on the wedding/honeymoon deal in Hawaii, it was a quiet romantical type NYE at home.

Bro got JT the Perfect Pullup.  JT is here to say that thing is some serious workout ish in a small package.  JT was giving it the once through while watching football.  JT is one sore puppy today.  Muscles hurt that weights don't hit.

I would have loved to have seen a Fla/USC game.  But Pete Carroll can say whatever he wants but nothing is going to change unless guys like him actually do something.  He could have said "no thanks" to the Rose bowl if he was actually that worried about it.  I mean, USC agreed to the Rose bowl right?  Why not just tell the NCAA that if they dont get a national championship game next year, they will play the 3rd or 4th team in the country in a bowl game where the two schools get 100% of the profits.

Bottom line is that the #3-#7 ranked teams in the country are always the ones who complain (and I agree with them) but they never actually attempt to do anything about it.

Plus, the Rose Bowl is a home game for USC and an unfair advantage in my opinion.  I still would pick USC to beat Penn St at Penn St this year but Im sick of all the whining from these coaches.
