RE: ManRam

C'mon Jonny what is this Amature Hour?  You have got to be kidding TDT.  Manny brought 2 World Championships to Boston.  2 more than the Sox would have won without him.  You should be bowing down to this cat.  He is probably one of the top 5-10 pure hitters EVER.  TDT doesn't give an ish that "off the field" he has a few screws loose.  The bottomline is that between the lines the guy flat out mashes and has proven to elevate the play of his team.  In fact, the Dodgers who don't have the benefit of the DH in the Nat'l League think so highly of him that they are willing to put him in the outfield everyday where he is a huge liability because of how sweet he is at the Dish.

Man you Boston guys are unreal.  Who gives an ish if he is anti-social and a complete headcase.  Quit holding a grudge that ManRam held you hostage last summer because the LLPP knows Cash is King!!!!  The guy is a baseball player not a Role Model.

Sorry TDT you are way way way off here. Dude when you make that much money to play a ****ing game and are in the national spotlight 3/4 of every year in front of countless kids who worship you, you are a role model whether you like it or not tough ****. Athletes who refute that simply can't handle any responsibility and are cowards. Read the article I posted above, they are children in adult bodies. With all the money they are given  they are simply untouchable and can act anyway they choose because attitudes like the one you have posted above allow them to do so. No offense dude personally here but when these athletes' actions off the field and on are ignored by many becuase they are "great talents" then we have a big problem in this society. But it's O.K. we'll just let them act anyway they want in front of children everywhere, pay them millions upon millions of dollars, so people can sit on their fat asses, eat wings, and be entertained. I agree Manny is one of the top ten natural hitters EVER but he is "...a savant with a bat," and worth all of $0.50 on the fading dollar in our current world economy.

dlippiel on a rant!!!!!

I am on the fence here.  On one hand he is a great player and should act like a role model.  On the other hasn't the media bashed this guy enough that children should be steered away from him by adults?  I mean, look at bonds or Sosa a couple years back.  You didn't see kids running around in their jerseys, right?  Aren't there any other decent players out there that acts accordingly and appreciative for the money they make?

Once companies are forced to start conserving their advertising dollars, all sports salaries are going to go through a reset or they are going to drive the game bankrupt.  Don't know if there are any Nascar fans out there....however, have you seen some of the races lately?  They can't even do shots of the stands in the Nationwide series because there isnt anyone there.

I hear ya JT but my point is, and working with kids who have very little adult direction is that they are not able to differentiate who they should and who they shouldn't look up to. Plus most of the adults in their lives aren't role models themselves so they have no clue about which people their children should look up to. They look at many of these athletes and say, "they look like me, act like many people do who live around me, and boy are these guys are rich, famous and they are superstars! That is who I want to be." Trust me dude I see it all the time.

TDT guys can hold out before the season for more money even if they have a contract, they can even refuse to play the game in the middle of the season if they don't want to be there, but when you fake injuries and watch called third strikes in the bottom of the 9th against the yankees, you are a clown and borderline criminal.

Im not saying Manny isn't one of the greatest players in the history of the game or that he didn't help the sox win two world series, but that garbage he pulled last year was awful.

And I don't even care that much that he gave 95% all the time instead of the 100% that everyone else gave because his 95% was still better than everyone elses 100%.  And I also don't care that much about how he was the only one on the team that didn't go sign autographs for jimmy fund kids (kids with cancer) 5 years in a row, or how he was the only one on the team who didn't go to the Walter Reed Center when the team went, or that he was the only one on the team who didnt meet the president.  Those are personal choices that are questionable, but not immoral like what he did on the field last year.

Don't get me started on this piece of crap.

Hey CB, I have to answer your question with a question.....

Have you ever tried to throw your car sideways around a corner?  Ever try to beat the guy next to you at a stoplight?  (this is when you do a gut check and realize it sucks to drive a kia)

As much as I dislike Kyle Busch, that kat has some skillz.....the reason he is faster than anyone out there is becuase he keeps his car sideways more than anyone else is willing to go.

So, a sport, yes.  There is a winner and loser.... enough for me to qualify it as a sport.

You've gotta be an athlete to do this.  Notice that all of them are toned physically, only fat guys are in the crowd.  Because of the stress they have low heart rates, and they have to deal with high temps for long periods of time.  Not to mention superior reflexes.

Touchdown Tommy

Looks like TDT caused quite a stir with his late night rant.  It was TDT's pleasure to generate some heated discussion on the LLPP.

BTW: Reg you are full of ish.  There is no way you live in the land of Miller Lites, Harleys, and Octoberfest.  This mancrush on NASCAR has TDT convinced you are down in the Dirty Dirty (Hotlanta or Charlotte)....

Apparently Endicott, Becker and Utica had already committed to play RPI so the Dutchies had to look elsewhere of non-conf games........
