Re: training camp.

It's good to get away and help out a local economy. For example, Gro had to go to a wedding last year in River Falls, WI, training camp home of the KC Chiefs (at D-III UW-River Falls) and let me tell you... that place could use the boost.

I could see that I guess, but these are private teams that can boost the economy around their regular practice facility just as much without the hassle of a camp.

I think there is something to be said about 'camp' as a place where a team comes together, gets to know each other better, and get out of the everyday hassle of where they will live for the next 6 months.  Even in the pros.  It's kind of like a football past-time.  Our 'camps' in HS were some of the better memories of HS football, and where you really got to know each other.  Where else could you give ultimate wedgies, spray each other with fire extinguishers, and throw freshman in the lake and steal their clothes?

Oh yea, theres nothing more fun than football camp in HS or college.  Im just thinking for a bunch of 25-30 year old professional men with families and kids its not the most practical thing to do.  I mean, the teams already have all sorts of summer camps for rookies and vets that want to work out, and the superstars don't go to those anyway.  Plus the coaches can do stuff in their own offices with their own equipment.  Just seems that many of the players would rather just stay at home at some point.  Maybe thats why Belichick does it that way (making the vets happy)

Then again, many nfl teams dont have the facilities that the pats do for fans to watch practices and stuff.

Willie...Willie where you at? Again, a true academic all-american, role-model, and classy individual whom I am sure truly touched each and every college he attended. This list looks like it came from the ****ing Princeton Review...

"...It's a humble ending to a five-year college career that took him to a handful of schools: Miami (two seasons, one redshirt before transferring), West Los Angeles Community College (one season), Louisville (three games, ending after an arrest for marijuana possession), Division II Glenville State (one semester, before being denied transfer by the NCAA to the West Virginia school), and finally, tiny NAIA school Union College (one season) in Barbourville, Ky.

That's why Pep annually holds "Band Camp" a week before the football season. While familiarizing new members with our "staple" music and introducing new tunes, Band Camp allows for some "band bonding" that goes a long way toward the band's chemistry.

For what it's worth, the Pep Bandwagon is still on the road, although Pep now is driving a 2000 Caravan while the infamous 1992 Grand Caravan is serving as temp transportation for Pep's daughter. Pep hasn't checked the odometer of late but it must be nearing 311,000 miles.
