Re: Bard

TGP could be incorrect - this happens regularly especially if you ask Mrs. TGP - but Bard was a women's college (sister school to Columbia U before they went co-ed).

Regardless as stated before - kind of a "who cares" with regards to RIT and BC given neither have football programs.  Maybe D3 bb and other programs would have a different view, but that's TGP's .02.

Gro sees your point.  From a football standpoint you could look at it as "LL doesn't invite Ithaca or Alfred, etc."  What will the bombers and saxons do now that the E8 is looking deader than fried chicken?

Maybe the E8 will go the LL route and add Smith College and Wellesley to the ranks?  Word has it that Coach King wanted to put Bard on the schedule regardless of what kind of program they had!

But seriously, I wanted Ithaca to join the LL so I could see some close football games that I could drive to in a day.  Now I only have Springfield which kind of sucks.  I don't think its a huge deal in the grand scheme of things though either.  I don't see the E8 winner not getting a pool B bid, and Ithaca has never had a problem finding football teams to fill the schedule.

U89, if you're gonna be mad at someone, be mad at the federal judge.  A Civil Suit is for money, not for jail time.  Look what happened in the OJ case, the family got nothing because all of OJs cash was spent on his lawyers.  Atleast they are getting SOMETHING out of it.

In OJ's case, they got to hear the word GUILTY, but in this case, Stallworth said he was guilty all along.

They probably settled for more than they would've gotten from a civil case.  Let it rest.

LD. God forbid Stallworth runs over your dad or brother........do you let him walk on 30 days.......according to the liberals (including you) the $ doesn't matter, let's leave it out of the equation then.

Gro's reference to "deader than fried chicken" reminds Pep of a place called Kennedy's Fried Chicken in Binghamton. Pep hasn't been there but Pep's Johnson City connection says Fridays are "Fried Chicken Fridays" and the order window has thick wired glass to protect the staff from stray bullets.

But seriously, is the E8 looking that dismal? Pep is working a deal with PAwesleyfan to bring at least a couple SUNY schools back home to NY (perhaps Brockport and Buffalo) in exchange for Wesley and Salisbury joining the NJAC.

If that doesn't work, the E8 may open the doors to Wesley, Salisbury and Frostburg State...giving the E8 nine football schools, provided Springfield doesn't bolt. That would make for a solid conference.

You're thinking of Barnard.

TGP stands corrected.  Mrs TGP will be pleased.

And add pretty significantly to travel costs, I would think.

DUDE!!! The family did NOT let him walk!!!  The judge did!  The family settled in the CIVIL suit.  What don't you get?  You don't go to jail in a civil suit!

This is what I was confused about too.

There was no civil lawsuit, just a settlement out of court between Stallworth and the family.  And like I mentioned with Massachusetts law, it appears that Florida is similar that if a drunk driver is not 100% at fault in the actual accident, the charge is not as serious, and in this case, it looks like the man who got killed was jaywalking at the time of the accident which would put the victim at fault as well.  The family probably did not want to go though the ordeal of deciding in court how much at fault the victim was (at the advice of some good lawyers Im sure) and instead tried to settle it out with the DA and Stalworth in agreeing that Stallworth was not 100% at fault but was still responsible.

So I would assume that like MA law, an OUI homicide where someone is killed in a drunk driving accident but the drunk driver is not 100% at fault, the penalty is not the max (15 years) for the felony but (2.5 years max) for the misdeamenor) which is what Stallworth did.  And no one ever gets the max for a first time offense in cases where there is no malicious intent like in this case.

exactly its not like wesley and salisbury are in north jersey....your talking about some serious travel time and costs, dont see any chance of that happening.

DO NOT get food from Kennedy.  I grew up in Binghamton and got food there a number of times after bevergage consumption made it seem like a quality idea.  You'll run out of toilet paper before your stomach forgives you.  You're better off going to Pepe's, who used to be near the corner of Main and Front (just past the bridge), but now moved somewhere on that walking part of Washington St.

All of this is, of course, if you are heavily drinking and have to eat at 2 am.

PA,

SF basically lived in Greene NY for 4 months for job training.  Any chance to get away from that metropolis, we headed down to Binghamton... Casey's was choice destination (mainly bc of location).  When SF's lady friend flew up from Cincy, we had to go to Endicott (it seemed) to find anything decent to eat.  The only place SF could find was Russell's SteakHouse.

If Binghamton hadn't been so close, SF would've gone absolutely nuts having to live in Greene.  Heard they just got their first chain restaurant in that town--- a Subway, across the street from the Raymond Factory.

EDIT:  Those bars in Binghamton (the downtown area) were suprisingly packed... we only lost one in my training class --- who was fired for getting a DUI on the road between Binghamton and Greene.

Yeah the triple cities didn't have much to choose from.  I used to like the lost dog cafe, but haven't been there in six or seven years.  There was a place called the Drover's Inn out in Vestal that was decent.  The only thing I recall about Greene was a small park and this really hot girl who played field hockey at Providence that I knew.

SF,  I'm going to have to forward your comment about going nuts if Binghamton hadn't been close to all my friends that moved away (the ones that didn't are bouncers or constrcution workers at best).  I can only hope you live somewhere better now.

I lived in DC for four years and that place had some good food, but I literally just moved to Atlanta last week from NYC and haven't figured out the food scene here (visiting with my wife in the past we had a pretty good fondue meal at a place called Donte's that's like the inside of a pirate ship, Ted Turner's burger chain is pretty good and there's a place out in Marietta called Dreamland that has decent bbq).  That's the thing about NYC I'm going to miss the most.  I lived up on the upper east side and could walk no more than three blocks and get great anything - mexican, chinese, brazilian, continental, italian, german, etc.  I gained 20lbs in NY (getting married didn't help).
