Serious question: Does anyone ever talk about Liberty League football in this forum? This is a serious question and I am not trying to insult anyone.....

Let's hear it.... Who do you guys have winning the LL this year and why?

dlippiel just finished cutting down a large tree in his backyard so he feels the testosterone is flowing enough to answer this question. Who will win the LL this year Mr. LL? Well dlippiel bets this will surprise many (ya right) but he is going with the Dutchmen here. The U has been a program that has been up and down recently seemingly always building towards that  ideal "team." The U has  not had the "team" year in and year out like in the past. Hence dlippiel feels that this is going to be one of those "teams" for the Dutch. To dlippiel the last "team" was in 05-06 when the U defeated Ithaca and lost to Rowan in the second round of the NCAA's. dlippiel feels that with Connelly taking snaps (a soph stud whose #'s paralleled Robertson's last year), a decent o-line that needs to replace Morello, Mr. Coney coming out of the backfield, solid recieving core (Gallo's, etc), and a defense that improved last season as the year progressed the U will battle Bart and RPI as usual and take the LL outright. With the U's nasty OOC schedule and athleticism, growth (experience), and coaching this SHOULD be one of those Dutch "teams." dlippiel feels that anything less than an NCAA birth will be a disappointment for U.

U89 all of Boston radio is horrible now for Rock stations.  Even 100.7 has lamed up over time.  I even think I heard 'Third Eye Blind' on WAAF the other day.  Its sickening.

FNX is probably now the best of the worst....BCN changed in some awful ways over the past 10 years.

brother 'gro just informed me that at bombers burrito in shocktown they serve 40oz Colt 45's in an ice bucket with champagne glasses. Gro does not remember that from the Albany location.

You stay classy, Schenectady.

U89, you and I have to figure out some sort of plan for this IC/Union game.  And Ill tell you one thing....bombers burrito in shocktown is going to be a part of that plan.

Go Shocktown!

I'm working with a guy who's brother was Gatti's manager.  He's attempting to help because apparently Gatti's wife tried to take $350k out the day before she killed him.  Also he tells me Gatti was technically a Canadian citizen and the wife was Brazilian so there's multiple jurisdictions involved.  He said the guy was a pretty good guy.  This is coming from a very nice, but career Union City, NJ guy who definitely knows some people though.

As far as the LL, Bart wasn't really a contender in the mid-late 90's and part of the conversation (my years, unfortunately, though we became regulary .500+ then).  Since then, Coach Cragg has built a hell of a program.  Every year, at the end of the year, you will hear Union and RPI fans bitch about how they are really better/more talented than Hobart while Bart takes the crown and represents in the playoffs (even RPI's great '03 year was kind of smeared by a Bart beatdown at the end of the year and it took some heroic efforts in '01 for RPI to come back against Bart).  They lose some talent on the interior (Aruck, Sander & Hager) but have one good replacement (OLaughlin - ILB, 2007 LL ROY) as well as a strong secondary and outside LB's/DE's.  RPI guys should rembember the FR backup QB Vella, who is a better version of Strom, so, while I think Union will be tough, I like Bart's chances of getting into the NCAA's again.

From what I saw of Hobart's backup last year, he was head and shoulders better than the kid starting.  Could prove to be a problem for the LL in the coming years.

Doyle earned the starting bid as a three year backup to Mizro and Strom (and played well when Strom got injured vs. Dickinson in '07), but Vella is absoultely more talented.  I think of Doyle as a one year placeholder.

That being said, Doyle played U of R and two playoffs games with an injury (I forgot if it was shoulder or wrist, but throwing arm) pretty admirably.

On top of the QB, the top two receivers (Schulz and Vincent), a TE with playoff experience (SO Marsh) and three top RB's (Marlier, Tritten - who tore up Lycoming, and the kid from FL) are all back on offense.  The biggest question mark is one DT replacing Aruck and one ILB replacing either Sanders or Hager (the other, as I mentioned, is replaced by O'Laughlin).  Nunzio Doldo, who played ILB as a backup, blew up his knee as a starting FOGO during the lax season, so he's probably not the answer, unfortunately.

LLPPers,

SF was asking about non-competes and whatnot a few weeks back.  Just to update.  Two days removed from moving on from that company.  I'm sure the non-compete is going to come into play very shortly... but so far, all of SF's customers have gone with him.

SF kinda feels like Jerry McGuire... "the fish, they're coming with me"...
