On a completly unrelated note, KS went to a new Orthopaedist today.  KS was told to strip down to his shorts and socks and put a gown on.  KS got weighed and he was at 278, this is the lightest KS has been in over 10 years, down for a high of around 350 a little more than a year ago.  Only another 50-60 lbs to go until KS is at a weight he wants to be at.

KS was also measured, 25 years ago when KS got out of the Navy he was measured at 75" even in his stocking feet.  KS was just measured at 73" even.  KS has lost 2 inches in the past 25 years.

+k KS keep up the good work it doesnt get easier as u get older...pbr ran w/ the local h.s. x-country team last night ran a 5K then did a set of 8-600 yd. hills (sprint all out up and jog down...repeat) pbr has learned old man time waits for no one and pbr is no longer a young buck, it was an all out work out and struggle to keep up w/ the youngin's any more(pbr didnt tell them that though) full out soreness and pain today in the legs but all in all pbr feels good still being able to do that kind of workout

Good job KS.... JT is doing the same thing.  Cutting out the processed food, high fructose corn syrup, cutting down on the booze, and working out.  Going for nutrient dense food as much as possible.

JT has packed on the lbs. the past five or six years.  Dropped 25 for the wedding in Nov and put 35 back on.  Time to break the cycle.

SF needs to do this same thing.  JT is right... its a vicious cycle.  SF lost 25 lbs for a contest in the winter time and then put at least that back on.   Just started a running program... and going to mix in some weight-training.  There's a running trail nearby (5 miles total) with lots of fit birds to remind one why the need for running.

got to do the cardio to take it off and keep it off...pbr runs all the time and its key. plus as u said lots of fit birds around...pbr and oldest child(14 yrs. old) are doing the philly 1/2 marathon so lots of fit birds running there.

JT has been rocking a Vitamix blender for a couple of weeks.  Making his own smoothies (seeds and all), hummus, soups, ice cream made with low fat milk and fresh fruit etc., low fat shakes with fresh fruit, etc.,  The machine is expensive but worth it.

JT is just getting over a shoulder strain, re-injured again by trying to work out too soon.  Another pain free week or so and JT will start hitting his perfect pullup and bodylastics.

Go easy JT, dlippiel can say as a runner when he has tried to come back to early from injuries it always ****ed him and he ended up missing more time. dlippiel thinks it is great that everyone is working out and getting healthy. Staying in shape is always very difficult and dlippiel battles to keep running and working out. Great ****ing job guys!

JT wasn't completely pain free when he tried working out.  Not soreness but pain.  In the meantime, he walks (briskly) after lunch for about 20-30 minutes.

A shoulder strain is what put SF in this mess in the first place... only the shoulder strain was misdiagnosed or progressed into torn labrum/rotator cuff (both)-- had surgery #1.  A year later another surgery and now we're 30 months after the original injury and SF has turned into a blob.

Kettlebells are tough as nails.  Make sure you are in some sort of shape before you talke one of these classes.  You won't be able to walk or lift your arms the next morning if you aren't ready for these things!

Guitar legend Les Paul dies at age 94

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. (AP) -- Les Paul, the guitarist and inventor who changed the course of music with the electric guitar and multitrack recording and had a string of hits, many with wife Mary Ford, died on Thursday. He was 94.

According to Gibson Guitar, Paul died of complications from pneumonia at White Plains Hospital. His family and friends were by his side.

He had been hospitalized in February 2006 when he learned he won two Grammys for an album he released after his 90th birthday, "Les Paul & Friends: American Made, World Played."

"I feel like a condemned building with a new flagpole on it," he joked.

As an inventor, Paul helped bring about the rise of rock 'n' roll and multitrack recording, which enables artists to record different instruments at different times, sing harmony with themselves, and then carefully balance the "tracks" in the finished recording.

With Ford, his wife from 1949 to 1962, he earned 36 gold records and 11 No. 1 pop hits, including "Vaya Con Dios," "How High the Moon," "Nola" and "Lover." Many of their songs used overdubbing techniques that Paul the inventor had helped develop.

"I could take my Mary and make her three, six, nine, 12, as many voices as I wished," he recalled. "This is quite an asset." The overdubbing technique was highly influential on later recording artists such as the Carpenters.

The use of electric guitar gained popularity in the mid-to-late 1940s, and then exploded with the advent of rock the 1950s.

"Suddenly, it was recognized that power was a very important part of music," Paul once said. "To have the dynamics, to have the way of expressing yourself beyond the normal limits of an unamplified instrument, was incredible. Today a guy wouldn't think of singing a song on a stage without a microphone and a sound system."

A tinkerer and musician since childhood, he experimented with guitar amplification for years before coming up in 1941 with what he called "The Log," a four-by-four piece of wood strung with steel strings.

"I went into a nightclub and played it. Of course, everybody had me labeled as a nut." He later put the wooden wings onto the body to give it a tradition guitar shape.

In 1952, Gibson Guitars began production on the Les Paul guitar.

Pete Townsend of The Who, Steve Howe of Yes, jazz great Al DiMeola and Led Zeppelin's Jimmy Page all made the Gibson Les Paul their trademark six-string.

Over the years, the Les Paul series has become one of the most widely used guitars in the music industry. In 2005, Christie's auction house sold a 1955 Gibson Les Paul for $45,600.

AJ has been using these to workout for the past year...havent touched a free weight or dumbell.  Once you have the movement patterns down and build a base you see fast improvement.  AJ shoulders were pretty banged up from blowing up tankish Fb's like reg and shoulders were always bothered by flat bench etc....since the new workouts my shoulders feel great.
