What about all of the Chinese restaurant owners that kill cats to make delicious General Tso's?  No one is calling for their heads.  Why?  Because it is so delicious.

Coincidence?  I think not...

dlippiel goes away for a day and comes back to find pages worth of discussion. Well dlippiel is a Broncos fan and has also offically become an avid anti Eagles fan as of today. dlippiel's two cents are as follows. In dlippiel's opinion Vick is a piece of **** through and through. dlippiel can't understand how people are letting this asshole off the hook. Here is what dlippiel means. dlippiel has done stupid **** before (not this bad) but stupid. He believes that even though Vick is inherently a piece of **** he served his time and erserves another chance....at life not professional football! See to dlippiel playing a professional sport is a priveldge not a ****ing job. When playing a professional sport one is one of the very few human beings alive lucky enough (not saying they don't have to work hard because they do) to play a game and make millions of ****ing dollars doing it. When one throws beat of dogs who lost a fights into garbage cans full of water and electrocutes them one clearly (in dlippiel's opinion) should not have the good fortune to play a sport for a living and make millions of dollars. dlippiels does feel thought that Vick did serve his time and deserves another chance at life. Let this piece of **** get a real job, like real people, and have the opportunity to become a decent member of the community again. To allow this ************ to play in the NFL again in front of millions is a travesty. Hence dlippiel will root for this clown to actually get vibrated if and when he steps on the field each and every snap and root for the Eagles to lose every ****ing game they play (which is a shame because dlippiel loves Mcnabb). Anyway many may disagree and thats cool but dlippiel is pissed and wanted to rant about this caged ****ing animal.

This isn't intramural football we are talking about.  It's professional football.  It IS a career for some people.  If Mike Vick was a computer programmer, should he not be allowed to get a new job as a computer programmer after he serves his sentence, or since he's good at that and made good money, he should have to go bag groceries right?

My point exactly dogg (by the way dlippiel loves the cat pic!). Professional football isn't intramural football it's professional football and when one plays it (a game) they make ****ing millions of dollars to play this game. A computer programer doesn't make that much in 10 years. If he was a computer programmer he most likely lose his job because of having to go to jail. As well as any other profession. dlippiel is a teacher, if he did what Vick did dlippiel would not only lose his job he would lose his teaching license and hence most of the value of his education. Hence dlippiel would probably have to bag ****ing groceries. See dogg so many people miss the point here. Vick should get a chance to work and be a part of society. **** he may acutally have learned something here BUT it is a priveldge to play a sport for MILLIONS of dollars. **** in todays economy it would even be a priveldge to have a computer programming job, which one would lose if he electorcuted ****ing dogs in cans of water. dlippiel admits he has tunnel vision on this but just feels societites priorities are ****ed and this is a perfect example of one reason why.

DUDE, it's a game to me and you.  It's NOT a game to them.  it's their career!!!  It's not a 'privilege' to play a sport.  Some can do it.  Some can't.  Some who can do, the rest who can't, watch it for sport.

dlippiel hears ya dogg but he thinks this is probubly where we just disagree ya know. To play a sport/game for a living and make more money in 5 hours than anyone I know makes in a year it becomes a priveldge. dlippiel concurrs that it is a career but when a career has the perks that professional sports have it becomes a priveldge. To dlippiel it is plain and simple. You may think dlippiel is annoying and a tool for this but it is just how he feels. dlippiel feels that you make very valid points and are definitely getting dlippiel thinking but dlippiel just can't and won't let this idea of priveldge go. You want to pay dlippiel ****ing millions of dollars to teach the children of our future? If dlippiel accepts that than if he were to ****ing J-walk he should be stripped of the priveledge of making so much money.

The money argument is a red herring.  Pro athletes get paid millions of dollars because we all enjoy watching them play and spend our money to do so.  They do not get paid because of some mythical privilege.

Teachers have morality clauses in their contracts because they stand in loco parentis.  Professional athletes do not.  Therefore, a professional athlete's personal life is unrelated to his or her professional competence.

Are you serious? Are you saying pro athletes deserve this money?????Compared to teachers, doctors, policeman, etc etc etc??? Come on Viper? dlippiel believes that he would deserve to lose his teaching job if he did a tenth of what Vick did and Vick will make more this year than dlippiel will in his life. Whats wrong is wrong and when sports are deemed more important than everything else we are truly ****ed as a society.

Tom Brady...nasty...discuss...

Undefeated again?

As long as Pittsburgh covers JT doesn't care.

JT?  Wagering on a preseason game?  Maybe we could hold an LL Intervention?  We should have our own show, like Intervention on tv, but have all the LL DR's show up to smack some sense into fools...Docuhenami..nice..LD11 like Coors Light.

Just a warmup.  -3 over Arizona seemed like gimmie.  Tied 3-3 late in the third. Oh well.  JT is a successful wagerer over the season.  He's up on baseball and the WNBA.  Can't wait for NBA and NFL.  If JT ever figures out a formula for the ponies, he'll retire.

Before betting on pre-season games, repeat to yourself 50 times: "The Lions went 4-0 pre-season in 2008!" :o

Does it make me a bad person if I said I might consider paying money to see a cop beat up a bum???

Ya know, i've been re-thinking that one, and if they actually sold tickets to the open market for that, cops might make a lot more $$$.

Are you saying that we, the fans are the reason than? If so than dlippiel definitly agress to an extent and even blames himself because he can't stay away from being a fan. dlippiel was disgusted with his Yanks this season for the bull**** prices on seats, ridiculous money, etc. What did dlippiel do? Nothing and he realizes that makes him somewhat of a hypocrite. Yet still just because we pay for something does not mean it is O.K. for the product to act like assholes and have no consequences for it ya know?

A long time ago I dated an Irish girl, first generation parents off the boat in the 60's, from the Kingssbridge part of the Bronx (ultimately relocating to Pearl River) and I remember being out at her father's bungalow in this Irish colony in Kerhonksen, or somewhere in the Catskills and this Irish dude who had just become a cop was telling me how to rig a car with a bomb if I needed to get revenge on someone.

I get this mental image of this retard taking a nightstick to a bum when thinking about it, and even though I'd be repulsed there's something really comical about it.  Surreal and yet believeable somehow I guess.

If you take sports out of our culture, the economy of the country would be as close to a third world country as it gets.  Think about it:

1.  Athletes' jobs (a lot of these guys wouldn't be changing the world for the better)
2.  Income from ticket sales, apparel, food at the stadiums, paraphranelia(?), etc
3.  Jobs of the workers at the stadiums, team doctors, maintenance security, etc
4.  Bookies
5.  Las Vegas
etc, etc etc...

These guys that they put out on a field make so much money go around in this country, they are worth the $$$ that they get.  I think there should be some limits for sure.  Things have gotten a out of control, but for the most part, they earn what they make.  I wish I had their job, just like Union guys wish they had my job ,just like Ithaca guys wish they had Union guys' jobs, just like Cortland guys wish they could read.  It's science.

PBR...

+k to dogg! It is just interesting how hearing differing points of view make one think. Good discussion! dlippiel was on the east region poll board. Watch out for the U guys dlippiel feels this 09 squad should not be underated. By the way dlippiel's old man and him drove out to Troy the other day and looked at the stadium, which is now almost complete. ****! Very nice! dlippiel and pop saw Bob Ford (UAlbany coach) yelling from the top of the press box, "state schools just suck!"
