I have a 12 of Shock Top and some St. Lucian rum.  I hope I have the 18th pick.

LD had his real league draft on Monday.  12 teams - 6th pick - Worst case scenario...Not only do you miss the best guys, but you have 1 pick, then 12 in between.

U89 has the exact same scenario in his $$ league....leaning toward Larry Fitzgerald.  I think the RB position is a bit watered down this year.

I went on a limb and with with youth and took Chris Johnson.  Plus it's a PPR league and he will get a lot of touches this year.  Time will tell.

My only concern with him is LenDale has looked great in camp and poached all the goal-line stuff last year as a fat bastard.

JU has not done fantasy in about 15 years.  So I don't want anyone laughing at me when I draft Terrell Davis with the first pick.

I had you pegged as a Steve Grogan kinda guy.

I exaggerate when I said 15 years.  But its been about 3 or 4.  I had done one every year since high school before that though.  Theres always one or two people at each draft who pick someone that got a career ending injury in May or simply take someone for the name (I still might draft Emmit Smith just in case.)

I had a cousin do that last year... picked some guys who used to be the shizz, but were on the way out.... like Warrick Dunn.   I think my 11 year old nephew could have done better in his place, he was an easy two wins for everyone.

EDIT:  Travis Henry is all mine in Round 2..

QuoteQuite possibly the truth Dogg, yet us ducking futchmen fans have to hold this program to high expectations because if we don't who knows what'll happen to it. Seems as if the mediocre records at the U are becoming more and more tolerated and accepted. By the way, have fun with Endicott. Looks like we might have a barn burner over in Troy with this NEFC powerhouse. Can't remember a year when they had a decent shot at defeating RPI. dlippiel thinks this may be one...

Not sure what to make of Endicott.  I've saw them play last year twice and while they have some talent, they aren't deep or big/physical enough especially on the O and D lines.  QB is big and fairly mobile.  Returning a number of players that saw time last year on D but that may be the bad news.

Believe RPI and Union are probably quite close we'll see.  For that matter I don't think Hobart is head and shoulders above either of them.. again time will tell.

Did see the RPI practice yesterday.  They have promise and I think they will be in the thick of it.  QB'a are fairly impressive.  Accuracy and learning their receivers (and offense) will be the issue.  Arm strength is certainly not the problem.  Saw some major league throws.  We'll see what they look like Sat against HVCC.

Also checked out the new red bucket seats on the ECAV.. very cool

Fine, if no one will say it, i'll say it...Endicott is terrible, and if RPI doesn't blow them out of the water, they deserve about as much recognition as they've gotten so far in the preseason which is, pretty much, none.  I don't care if Endicott will be 'improved' or whatever from previous years, this shouldn't be a game technically, unless RPI plays to the talent of their competition, which has been a HUGE problem in the last few years.

In all honesty dogg speaks the truth and in all honesty the Engineers should man handle Endicott. It they do not it will be very telling as to how the RPI season will go. dlippiel feels like RPI should win by at least two scores. It will be interesting to see which QB steps up for RPI.  Whomever it may be one would have to be confident in King's choice. The man knows how spot QB talent. Lots of respect for King, even from this U fan.

Anyone know what time the scrimmage is? dlippiel may just take a ride out to take a peek. Stim are you going to go?

dlippiel

dlippiel is curious about U's scrimmages? Mr. rlippiel was supposed to find out today and dlippiel has heard nothing. dlippiel plans to attend Dutch practice tomorrow so he will see what he can find out.

I too think that RPI should be throwing their junk on Endicott's collective forehead.  I was shocked by the comment in Kickoff that RPI could have trouble with them.

That being said, it is a tall task to replace a four year QB and your top receiver.  They really need Fil to step up early.

My kind of guy.  Transferred in from the same school as Strom in N Cali and it looks like he's spent a bit of time in Mendocino.

And I'm shocked that you think the following was some sort of indication that RPI could lose in that game:

"Capsule: Simply stated, the 2009 RPI Engineers football season is as unpredictable as it gets. It's not every day that a team loses such a huge asset like former quarterback Jimmy Robertson and his favorite target, receiver Eren Savasli. However, it is also not every day that a team brings back nine starters on offense. There is no doubt that offensively, RPI will likely take a slower start out of the gate than the Engineers saw in 2007 and 2008. Whether this will result in losses is anyone's guess, though, as the Engineers' schedule is somewhat stacked in the team's favor. RPI starts with [Endicott]College and Utica at home on Sept. 12 and 19, respectively, and waits until Oct. 31 and Nov. 7 before the team visits Union and Hobart. The season really will hinge on whether the team gels enough to win at least three out of its first four Liberty League matchups, leading up to the main rival games. With that equation, RPI would have a solid chance to win the Liberty League crown -- but RPI's defensive line must continue its 2008 domination (16.3 points per game allowed) for that to become a reality."

Just because you "take a slower start out of the gate" offensively doesn't mean you lose a game to an inferior team.  It just means you don't hang 50 on them necessarily.

Hello Mr. Rossi how are you? Good to see ya here  ;D.

dlippiel

U will have a team scrimmage this Sunday (I believe) at Frank Bailey (still have to find the time out). The following Saturday the U will head to New Haven CT and scrimmage the Yale Bulldogs. dlippiel feels this will put the dutch under some serious heat (even though it is only a scrimmage and not played in a regular game format) and help U prepare for Ithaca by working against some tough competition. dlipp just prays that no one gets hurt (Connelly, Coney, etc) like a few years ago when Angiletta went down against Brown. dlippiel remembers being out at Springfield for the opening game watching Ang standing on the side lines hurt, That sucked.

TGP isn't sure whether he'll step in as FS or if #30 John Kelliher will get the call as starting FS due to Boyington's graduation:

I'm pretty sure Kelliher is going to be the starter.  He was the #2 last year and made a ton of open field tackles on special teams.

Mainly referring to the picture.  Better dreads than I saw at Bart when I was there.

pretty sure SF is gonna wipe up in the LLPP Fantasy Football...

except for that pick of the kicker on roids, solid draft for the Cincinnati Bowties.
