C'mon U89, you should know by now that there is no way that U is going to beat the Ithaca Cornbombers. Just not possible. They'd have a better chance of beating the Steelers.  UColl could have 22 returning 4 year starters, and Ithaca could be fielding 22 mini-Cornbombers, spot the Dutchmen 2 TD's, and IC would still roll by 30.

Ithaca 49 (moral victory that they don't break 50)
UColl     3

What kind of demented Union AD would ever willingly schedule Ithaca?

And that is one sensitive pollster, I'll say that. Stay Strong U89.

Relax champ....kind of just making conversation....Union/Ithaca is a pretty important game in the overall landscape of the East......'Sheesh'

.....and thanks for the -K....you're a peach.

Well, thanks for the inaccurate whine about no respect. You weren't included in the question because you didn't actually meet the question's criteria.

Go home and yell at your bathroom mirror.....I'm done with you.

Come on now let's settle down. Maybe U89 misread the criteria or whatever but overall his point is a good one. The U has gotton little or no love this preseason (maybe well deserved maybe not) for having so much talent on the O side of the ball and returning some key players on D (granted a poor D in 08). dlip thought the #74 ranking was extremely low for the U and agree that overall U has been underrated coming into their 09 campaign. Regardless of the possible lack of specific accuracy of U89's reference he makes a valid point here. Then of course tone of posts gets taken out of context and dudes start snipping at each other. Whatever the case tomorrow will tell us a hell of a lot about the East, about U, and about the Bombers who dlip feels are stacked. Key injury though on D for the Bombers, will it hurt them, who knows. Just so ****in happy it's football season!

Dlip, if you read my previous post, you'll see that I said the game doesn't fit the criteria....that was my problem with Pat's rant.

I know you said the game doesn't fit, but you complained about it anyway. That's the reason why it looks so stupid to be whining about lack of respect in a poll you don't qualify for.

Not quite happy hour here in SoCal but getting close.

k+ to Rev re the sentiments and recognizing our fallen friends and teammates.

Although Andy was a senior when TGP was only a frosh on the Bart squad - we were both in the secondary and definitely cracked pads and helmets a few times that fall.

TGP didn't know the guy well but was certainly sad when TGP learned of his (as well as Scott Rohner '01 and Michael Simons '83) passing in WTC.  The link below is the obit posted in the HWS alumni/ae magazine.  The pic of Andy is the exact same from the 92 fall football program.

Just heard that Union is charging $9.95 for the webcast of Saterday's game.  What's up with that?  I thought Union was supposed to be churning out some ballers.  Why are they nickel-diming people for bs internet feeds?

Because you get to hear my play-by-play with Tom Santa Barbara's color commentary and Alex Audino on the field -- It's science.

Frank Rossi

All kidding aside, here's an annual refresher of how you can listen to and view Union Football games this season, starting with tomorrow's opener at Frank Bailey Field against #8 Ithaca:

Radio:

There are expected to be two options this season for radio.  All games, not just road games, will be broadcast on a wide-ranging commercial station -- 1160AM WABY-Mechanicville, a station that reaches the Saratoga region down to the Albany region.  Frank Rossi, Tom Santa Barbara and Alex Audino will bring you the action (with Carm Audino joining them later in the season as time allows since he is now the head football coach of Catholic High in the Capital District).

In addition, it is expected that 89.7FM WRUC-Schenectady (Union's student-run station) will simulcast the games -- although this is not 100% definite.  However, WRUC has a very narrow range and should only be used by listeners on campus.

Internet Audio:

The main feed will be from WABY's web server -- located at http://saratogamoon.com.  Click the "Listen" button near the top of the page.  Should this not function, open Windows Media Player, hit "Control-U" to open a URL box, and type in:  http://shoutatme.com:7264/

Historically, that feed has had some issues -- and we invite you to also go to http://teamline.cc for another online audio option.  Union's team code, ironically, is 1160.

Internet Video:

Union College offers a monthly video streaming package for all football (and other sports', when available) home games.  The monthly charge is $9.95.  Last year, there was an option for a $4.95 day pass -- however, that option has not been offered yet this season.  It MAY be offered tomorrow when the game is played.  For more information, go to http://unionathletics.com/common/controls/adhandler.aspx?ad_id=9&target=/member/aa_signup.aspx -- the interface is new this season.

Mobile Phone Audio:

WABY's audio feed is compatible with mobile phones that allow for streaming Internet radio.  Point your phone's streaming radio application to:  http://shoutatme.com:7264/ -- the audio is Windows Media Player compatible, meaning most streaming radio players should be able to stream that feed.  This includes iPhones (through Apps like WunderRadio and Tuner) and Blackberries.

Enjoy the game, and remember that we are interactive -- Email us at rossif@yahoo.com with any questions, comments or concerns during the broadcast.  Thanks.

Will Mr.Rossi be over in the press box? Maybe dlip will pop over and say hello, you know introduce himself if that is cool. Of course he could always give his two cents on air as to the U's strengths and what they will need to do to make the 09 opener a success ;). In all seriousness dlip would love to serve the U somehow, especially through radio or some other outlet. Maybe someday far in the future it could happen. For right now he is enjoying carrying on the 20 + year Lippiello tradition of being a local yocal who loves his local college football team and supports them unconditionally. dlip and Mr. rlip will be sitting by the frat house in our lawn chairs (as we have been since 1984) with dlip putting chairs out roughly between 9-10am to make sure they get the best possible spot. Others may join tomorrows festivities which dlip looks forward to. Can't even describe how excited dlip is for tomorrows opener at the magnificant Frank Bailey Field. Hopefully the ****ing cannon will be firing left and right for the Dutch. dlip feels that the Dutch might just register themselves as a serious fixture for the 09 campaign tomorrow. The d-line and line backing core must congest the middle and make the Bomber O line work very hard throughout. If the U gives up ground from the run off the bat things could get bad. Secondary reads will play a huge factor as well. Grastorf has some very serious poise and ability to read and react with precision passing. Without pressure and a somewhat shut down running game Ithaca may put up some serious points. The U secondary must have steller coverage to make Grastorf take more than one look from the pocket. *Most important the U O must sustain drives throughout. Three and outs will kill the U's D. Much of the 25 PPG average from last year came from being worn down from being on the field so damn much. There were times last season U made some serious stands, garnered momentum, get the ball back to the O only to be right ****ing back out on the field after three to four minutes. Either way it is just fantastic that the D3 season is here and wishes all the student athletes luck tomorrow. Hopefully no injuries ad great football. Of course if dlip ever did serve the U in any capacity he would most likely have to clean up his mouth.

Today is the anniversary of 9-11.  The Rev, in one of his few clerical moments here, asks all LLPP members to please pray for three sets of people:

1. Our enemies.  Jesus taught us to forgive our enemies...especially when we think we don't need to, or that they don't deserve it.  That's not our decision.  That's a direct order from the Great General in the Sky.  Forgiveness is an act of love, which is the only thing that can conquer hate.  I say again: Love is the only thing that can conquer hate.

I'm still working on it, Rev.  Can you do me a big favor and lay on a double dose of prayer--one for you, and one for me while I do what I can to kick terrorist a**?  I appreciate it, and God bless.

3. Our friends who died on 9-11-2001, and their families.

. . . my NHS classmate Rob Peraza, who made the mistake of listening to the authorities who told him to stay put in the second tower.

Requiescat in Pacem

The director of the Pentagon Memorial Project http://www.whs.mil/memorial/ was an RPI classmate, track teammate, and fellow Navy ROTC Middie.  His brother, a Navy officer, was killed at the Pentagon.

Thanks for remembering.

Definitely say hello -- although, I'll warn you that I ran into some equipment problems when I tested some things earlier.  Best Buy is getting a 10am visit from me before I come to Bailey Field.  Wish me luck...
