Bringing up Patterson is another thing that pisses me off.  Robinson, a senior three year starter captain, and Patterson (a returning starter) had a combined three tackles.  For that matter Reggie Robinson needs to do more (even OLaughlin's 12 tackles didn't seem to be a big impact, but Hager racked up a lot like that too, in fairness).  As does all those guys they are rotating in like Schweitzer, Holton (where's Kelliher?), Shaw and Luber.  Ciali and Ghiraldi played ok, but someone needs to step up in that other ILB spot - I thought it would be Reg Robinson, but maybe I was wrong.

TGP, I may pass a stone if the QB (whoever it is) isn't chucking the ball down field within the first three offensive snaps on Saturday.

Bart37, welcome in.  We need more orange and purple around here.  I'm really removed from having inside info and physically out of the area so I can't even see live games much anymore, so keep dropping insider knowledge on us.  If you're somehow related to the current team, please tread carefully.

Opening day attendance at "The Stadium" - 3,815 (73% capacity fwiw), no thanks to those lousy gulls fans...

Gulls fans in attendance - 43, actual sea gulls in attendance - 16

Ok, gro admits most fans probably sit on the stadium side to watch the game. So... Will the same # of fans come out for Utica? Will Shoes 2010 be under the lights? Is there a standing room only area in either endzone? How's the sound system, is the team warming up to Jay-Z?

We gonna run this town...

Time to replace those lousy gulls fans with... the AU Pep Band (still thawing out from ECACs at '86 Field last year) and all the Alfred fans (RT's pops included)! Schedule the Saxons and you'll have a better chance of filling "The Stadium"...and perhaps have a "Battle of the Bands" to boot!

AU Pep Band would much rather travel to Troy than to southeastern Massachusetts for a Saxon opener.

On Saxon Warriors! On to Victory!
...Fight, fight for Alfred, A-L-F, R-E-D!

bitching about RPI's schedule never gets old... gro would like them to drop Endicott for a NY team (take your pick Alfred, SJF, Wick, Cort, IC, etc.) and add a 10th game and try to create a new rivalry since we lost the coast guard game. Gro would like to take on Carnegie Mellon, MIT, maybe Case Western.

Utica can stay, gotta have one day trip in there.

Endicott needs to go for sure and dlip feels Utica is improving and will give the Engineers/Redhawks/Enginebirds a good test to get their 09 season under way. dlip is looking forward to checking out the RPI QB's and see how they look. From all accounts thus far King has found not one, but ****in two possible studs. dlip figures that is just the way King and RPI rolls...

I'd like RPI to take the show on the road for a long trip and cincy would be a good choice (parents could come out and make a weekend trip of it), but that's not coach kings style.

Gro remembers that was one of Rochester's selling points - trips to Chicago, Wash U in St. Louis, CMU in Pittsburgh... and that they were "building our defense specifically for YOU". Yeah, me and the 25 other recruits you called today.

PBR...

These guys should transfer to Union, I'm just sayin'...

U89 can not figure out why everyone is so high on Utica's turnaround this year.  Utica smoked Becker and Castleton St.....please!!!!

If anything, Utica should be catching heat for scheduling 2 of the bottom 5 or 6 programs in all of D3!!!!

How do we bash RPI for scheduling Endicott, yet praise Utica for a great start and turnaround year for opening the season with 2 beating of teams that would get absolutely smoked by Endicott??

Utica shouldn't be getting accolades for their 2-0.....they should be getting ridicule for scheduling programs that would have difficulty beating even average high school programs.

Sorry DC....not a jab at you, but the reviews of Utica here and on the E8 board are crazy!!!

U89 is right.  But they still peak my interest a little, since they lost to Becker last year, and now they beat them by 60 a year later.  Then they beat another cupcake by 60 in another game.  Granted Utica has one of the weakest non-league schedules in the history of d3football, but they are doing what they should be doing, and they have to start somewhere.

I hear ya, but how about scheduling even 1 NEFC school instead of these 2?  I mean Becker & Castleton St. have 4 total wins between them in their history.......not last year.......In the last 150 years these two programs have combined to win 4 games TOTAL!!!

Any program who wants to be taken seriously can not open the season playing this type competition......

Wow.....U89 just noticed that they play Anna Maria later in the season also.....yikes!!

And Mt. Ida.

But this is Coach Faggiano's second year, so he probably didn't have a say regarding the schedule the past 2 years.  But Utica has been bad for a long time, I can't really blame them for scheduling those teams.  They have to actually win those games before they can be taken seriously anyway right?

Hmmm chalk up 4 wins for Utica, that helps RPI's OWP.
