Like dlip has said all along. These two QB's are probably nasty and thinks RPI will kick some ass on O this year once they get rolling. ****! It hurts every time dlip admits it but he thinks it is the truth.

You guys are making me think I should try to do all three. That would mean first half at Hobart though, because of the earlier kick, and second half at Alfred, where all predictions are that it will no longer be a game by the time I get there.

90 minutes mean I miss some game. And this is going to be a LOT of driving. K-Mack thinks he will hate himself on Saturday.

The three-way just doesn't seem like the best move in my mind.  You'd be leaving the game which likely will have a close finish to arrive at a game that will likely be out of hand and thus not get a feel for the Saxon or Saint starters.  If Alfred had the noon start, then it might make more sense.  I would make my way to the Boz and plan to be there unless it's a monkey stomp by halftime, though we'd love to entertain you at Merrill for the afternoon and the Homecoming crowd will make it festive in the home stands.

Every comment just makes me more indecisive.

Know this ... I am going to the Courage Bowl, so there's that.

Muhlenburg vs. Union Preview/Thoughts:

Mules: The Mules come into Saturday after a 2 point loss (14-12) to what looks to be a solid Wilkes team. The Mules are somewhat young after graduating a fantastic QB, a very solid RB, and some other key players (O-line). Known for that massive O-line averaging in the 300lbs the Mules like to run and pass and do both quite well. On D they will bring it and pressure the QB but also can hang back in coverage.

Key players:

-Sr Capt Cameron Ahouse CB-Cameron has good size at 6ft and 203lbs. From what I found he is very athletic and capable.

-Sr LB Frank Emmet who leads all active Mules in tackles for losses. Frank has good size at 6'3 and 216lbs. From what I read he can flat out play and bring it.

-Sr Capt Phil Cresta reciever- great D3 size at 6'3 208lbs he avg 98.1 yds per game with 9tds and avg 17.5 yds per catch in 08. This kid can hurt the Dutch secondary and needs attention.

-Fr Terrance Danderidge RB-Small but quick had a great day vs Wilkes and will most likely get most of the carries on Saturday.

*dlip is sure there are others worth mentioning but feels these players stood out.

Points to think about:

-The Mules lead the series 5-4-0 agains the U and will no doubt come into Saturday with confidence and anticipation fo taking the U out of the top 25.  The O-line is returning 2 starters from that ****ing mammoth line and figures to have many others stepping in. dlip is not sure about who exactly fills out the starting line aside from Hussey and Bigelli but figures they are talented. JJ Contessa (TE) is a very capable recieving TE, scoring a TD agains the Dutch in 08. Yet he also blocks very well and may double up to help with Charles Hovsepian who will be applying pressure for sure. The Mules return 3 returning starting LB's that will attempt to cause the Dutch trouble and who seem to have very good athleticism and experience. The Mules will be most likely starting the Fresh Running back (Terrence Dandridge) who had a big day vs Wilkes and even though he is undersized can be very dangerous. *Also note that the Mules were picked to finish 2nd in the CC in the preseason poll and Coach Mike Donnelly won the Coach of the Year in the CC in 08.

Thoughts on the Game: Union is going to have their hands full and dlip is a bit worried about this one down in PA. Looking at Defense U may (hopefully) contain Dandridge running the ball but may (hopefully not) struggle dealing with Cresta going short and long throughout the day. The kids hands are solid and with his size he may prove to be very difficult to cover. If and when he is matched up one on one look for the Mules to exploit the coverage. Also U must watch the flat for Contessa and the LB's may need to "stay home" at times to throw off the Mules play calling. Last week Grastorf seemed to focus on JP Sticco's side of the field. Hopefully JP (a very good athlete but small) will bring his A game and also get help from the safety's. If not, ****, it could be a long day. On O Union must sustain drives and provide the Union D with rest, points, and confidence. Those drives against Ithaca were huge and need to be paralelled tomorrow. Connelly must come out confident and make solid decisions. Obviously the Mules will focus on Coney and possibly stack the box and be very aggressive with pressure. If U's talented recievers can stretch the field, run solid routes anticipating the ball on every down, and be consistent they may cause the Mules D some serious trouble. Obviously it goes without saying that the U oline must give Connelly time and Coney space. last week Ithaca had plenty of persuit but was unable to catch Coney. Chris C will need to be big for the U O to roll. If the U O is firing on all cylinders dlip does not feel the Mules can hang with the U's offensive depth and prowess. We shall see.

Prediction:

Union- 34
Muhlenburg-24

*Most of the info on the Mules came from their website and some articles from local periodicles. If dlip ****ed up any names or stats he apologizes ahead of time. Only trying to give some info and have some fun.

3 quick things on that...

1.  It was week 1.
2.  Endicott isn't bad this year.
3.  I'll take 28-0 against Utica as well.

I think Ann Curry is very pretty, with unconventional Amerasian looks.  But every time I see her play interviewer, I miss Ted Koppel.

Not defending Ann Curry specifically, but that is hardly fair.  I miss Ted Koppel when I see ANY other interviewer.

What are K-Mack's plans for Courage Bowl?  It is alumni weekend, so the tent with good  food will be up in the endzone.  You got any connections you are planning on making at the game?  Let me know if you would like to give a radio interview on the broadcast 950AM ESPN radio.  I MAY be able to arrange it if you are interested.

Hey, don't take it too hard, dlip.  Even K-Mack had nice things to say about them Engineers:

  • Which surprise 2-0 team is least likely to go 3-0?

Keith's take: Utica. After 62-7 and 62-10 wins over Becker and Castleton State, the Pioneers are likely riding high. But confidence won't do the trick in a visit to RPI, which looked like its usual strong self in a 28-0 shutout of Endicott.

He also mentioned RPI and Oberlin in the same sentence in the latest ATN.  Not many sportswriters have put those words in such close proximity.

I've seen Ted Koppel in person.  I've never seen Ann Curry live, but she has to be taller than Koppel.  I still chuckle when I think about how long I was willing to give Ted the benefit of the doubt, figuring it was just a bad haircut.

Speaking of "bad haircuts," Ann Curry doesn't make me miss Sam Donaldson.  Imus was right about Sam--you'd think a guy who owns a New Mexico ranch with 5000 sheep could find a better piece of wool to wear on his head.
