Looks like Andre started hitting the pipe about the same time RPI started punching Union in the mouth. If that's the case then smoke'em if you got'em Andre... groseph's not mad atcha.

But, if Union fans want to relive the glory days of the 80's you're in luck. A few associates of the Groberson family have taken over some buildings in Yates Village (kinda like how Nino Brown took over the Carter) and built a not to scale replica of the old Mohawk Mall (pre media play era). All you need to do to get access is to knock on the door at building 4 apartment 2B and say you're here to play golden axe at the dream machine.

Yeah he won the 'Crackhead of the Year' award.  It was big back int he 80's.  Kind of fizzled out when John Singleton lost his mojo.

no worries JU...the defending champs will show them you cant buy a championship

Every team attempts to buy championships at what ever price point they can afford.  If the Phillies win, it only shows that they used their money more efficiently and got a better deal than the Yankees, but the championship will still be bought (unless the players decided to play for free).

The Rev woke up in the middle of the night with a case of heartburn after some ribs and fried chicken.  Oh yes, ribs and chicken in Korea...they were much, much, much better than expected.

Anyway, The Rev had a bad feeling and so looked at his e-mail.  Rev saw an e-mail from a dude he had suggested apply for a job at our school but it was BAD.  Rev had told dude not to mention his name so that his resume could get a fair shake without the connection to Rev influencing the decision.  When principal pressed him for a name, the guy was evasive, so principal sent him a scorcher...basically not interested because you are evasive.  So THEN the guy tells the principal it was Rev.  Now Rev REALLY cannot sleep and is wondering what to say to principal if anything.

Any thoughts?  The rev was thinking about making a preemptive strike such as, "Hey, X forwarded me an e-mail.  I just wanted to say that I don't know why he got evasive on you when he should have just come out and told you that I suggested he send his resume.  I wash my hands of it."  The Rev isn't even really friends with the guy, he's the friend of a friend who contacted The Rev about working in Korea.  Now The Rev senses that he is going to be on a sh*tlist.  Again, thoughts?

The Yankees put their money back into the team, too many teams put their money into the owners pockets.  What are all the teams doing with the Luxury Tax money they get from teams like the Yankees, Dodgers, Red Sox, Cubs etc?  How can a small market team like Minnesota keep competeing every year.  The Twins can't afford to buy the high priced free agents but they have developed and incredible scouting and farm system that they have invested heavily in.  Granted the Yankees can afford to spend more money, but other teams are handcuffed by owners greed.  Revenue sharing and a salary cap would help, but several owners want guarantees that the money will be reinvested in the teams.  More than a salary cap you also need a salary floor to prevent teams from being completely cheap also.

You guys must feel like the biggest pussies when all you can do is call U89 and me, Bellicheck and the Patriots 'cheaters'.  That's like what I called my older brother when he beat me in whiffle ball when I was 6.  Seriously, does it hurt when that is all you got?

It does look like the Yankees did buy the right players this year.  Thats one expensive trophy if they don't choke.

I havent watched any baseball since the sox lost, but I will be pulling hard for Pedro.  He is the man.

dlip finds it ****ing hilarious when fans of other teams, especially the Sox, bitch about payroll **** and buying ****ing players. Can anyone name a team that has not bought any of it's players? ****ing of course not. **** the Sox paid millions just to sit down with Dick-K and look at his "piece." The ****ing hypocrisy is great and dlip loves it. He is a die hard Yanks fan but a rare one whose favorite player (Pedroia) plays for the Sox. dlip is sure Pedroia plays for free as a good will jesture to the purity of the game and his (and all other major leaguers) pure feelings that the Yanks are the only evil ones in the game. Please, the name of the game is $ and all the ****ing teams play in one way or the other. Yet with 26 world championships and maybe a 27th on the horizen the Yanks just happen to do it better mother****ers.

They dont really do anything better anymore.  Sure, drafting Jeter and picking up mid-level free agents in the 1990s was smart and Ill give the Yanks some credit for that, but its real different now. Do you think they were the only team that thought CC Sabathia and Mark Teixiera were good?  Gee, only 320 ****ing million dollars between 2 human beings!

You can't blame the Yankees or Players for paying or accepting these salaries, but lets face reality here, MLB is not on the level.

It must be real fun being a Cleveland Indians fan.  Great job by that orgainzition huh?  Two starting pitchers tonight are former Cy Young award winners for the two WS teams!?!  Why did they let them go?

And its teams like cleveland that are the problem.  The problem is, no one cares about those teams.  10 teams can buy players, and 1 of those 10 can really buy players.  Hey, don't feel bad for me or the red sox, they are on the money train too, but they aren't allowed in the luxury bar car where the Yankees own all the seats.

The sox would have loved to have bought Texiera.  Why didn't they?  Yankees would have won the bidding war thats why.  the sox have money, but not that much money.  The sox and 7 other teams can afford to buy 2-3 all star salaries on their rosters and then have to finagle and do good scouting to get the rest.  The Yankees can afford to buy 6-7 all star players and then cut 2-3 that dont work out (and still pay them).

+1 Utah, very well put.

U89 is more jealous of the Yanks situation than anything else.  Instead of Yankees fans pounding their chests for the 26 World Championships, they should be embarrassed that they don't have more.  Due to the financial imbalance in MLB, the Yanks should win almost every year.  On the flip side, U89's Red Sox are one of the financially privileged and should have more than 2 Championships since 1918.

On a side note, JP Riccardi of Worcester is coming to the Sox to work as the Assistant to Theo.

Because The Rev isn't exactly the most popular teacher with the principal.  So The Rev didn't want his app to go directly into the circular file because of some connection to The Rev.  Of course, now The Rev is going to be even less popular with the principal.

The Rev didn't tell the guy to be evasive, just said to send in the resume without Rev's name.  Rev wasn't expecting him to evade and then drop Rev's name after it was too late.

Excellently put.

Like MP says, he's a Yankee fan in favor of a salary cap. Until that day, you can't really fault the Yankees for doing what they do...

see your point but do the pittsburgh pirates have the same amount of money as the yankmes? pbr didnt realize mlb was like the nfl and all owners got equal shares  of money from tv and licenses....of course you do it better when you can sign 5 players to the pirates 1...or pick many of the other small market franchises....they have become the development teams for the spankees...

Capitalism can be a bitch pbr. If the Pirates suddenly came into billions and billions of $'s they could sign Jesus to play short stop. Does it suck for the Pirates? **** yes! dlip's main point is that any team, in the Yanks poisition would do the same exact ****ing thing the Yanks do. Actually most would probably do it smarter  ;).

Not true.  There are ownerships that have a lot more money than the Steinbrenner's.  They'd rather pocket the money then spend it.  Its just a business to them, not an almost life or death passion.
