OKLAHOMA CITY -- The NCAA has rejected a final appeal to reinstate Dez Bryant, and Oklahoma State (No. 19 BCS, No. 18 AP) probably has seen the last of its All-America receiver.

Bryant sat out the past five games for Oklahoma State (6-2, 3-1 Big 12) after the school ruled him ineligible for lying to an NCAA investigator looking into Bryant's offseason meeting with former NFL player Deion Sanders.

The NCAA decided last week that Bryant should be suspended until next September, and OSU appealed to the NCAA's Student-Athlete Reinstatement Committee. That group announced Thursday that it had rejected Bryant's appeal in a two-paragraph statement that included no explanation.

The NCAA indicated in its initial decision that it was showing leniency toward Bryant, because it could have taken his eligibility away entirely.

Is there a bigger group of a**hats than the NCAA? Talk about the punishment not fitting the crime. Especially pr*ckish to say you're showing leniency, when they know damn well this was his last year. Tools.

One of the ESPN guys said it best, "As a wide receiver, you should know better than to mess with Deion Sanders."

Hey, let's keep some perspective here.  If trying to blind a guy gets a half-game suspension, talking with Deion certainly merits the death penalty! ::)

Red Sox fans, when you won the World Series, did it make you want to spend less money so that someone else could win after that?

No, but it would have been more rewarding if they weren't the second highest paying team in the league.

he's now sitting out the full game.  not because its a penalty... but because of all the media attention it received, Urban and the coaches + Tommy the Eye Gouger all think it would not be as big a distraction.

So Tommy the Eye Gouger is missing an entire game... because of potential distraction

Not really.  I didn't even watch all WS games against Colorado.  They didnt have a chance, and to be honest, the Cardnials didnt have a chance the first time either.  Beating the Yankees down 3-1 was much more of an achievement than winning either of those world series.  At least the Yankees had a great team those years.  The Redsox are expected to be a top 5 team.  THEY CAN BUY THE DAM PLAYERS.  Of course they dlipped up by signing Drew and maybe Dice-K or not signing Manny to a big contract (if they could have afforded it).  But the sox can afford to make those mistakes because they have 150 million dollars to mess up with!  The Yankees have 240 million to mess up with (as they have done with plenty of bust free agent signings)

That's Brandon the Eye Gouger, and frankly, I'd just stick with Mr. Spikes if you ever see him in person.  He could be the most intimidating human being I have ever met.

Ahh, got it.  Couldn't tell if you were a UM fan (I may have called them azzholes about a hundred times in the Illinois game), or hater. As long as your not an Ohio State fan.

As a former Ann Arbor (ok, sorry, really Ypsilanti) native, I give a +1 for that.

If Richrod pulls another Illini game, this show may not go on much longer. I'm in between, as much as I liked and appreciated Lloyd Carr, thought it was time for him to go, but did not like the choice of RRod. Living in Dallas now, I wonder why the TCU coach doesn't get more love from big colleges with what he's done with the Horned Frogs program. Or the Cincy coach.
