Here, Terd.  I did what you did, except, I applied relative distancing based on my assessments of the seasons each team had.  No, I didn't juice the numbers.  Here's what I came up with based on my personal assessments, backed by my arguments from the last couple days:

1. Alfred
1.5. Susquehanna
2. Union
2.5. Springfield
3. SJF
4. Hobart
4.5. Ithaca
5. Rochester
6.5. RPI
8. St. Lawrence
11. MMA
13. Hartwick
14. WPI
15. Utica

Average positioning:

LL -- 1.5+2+4+5+6.5+8+11+14 = 52/8 = 6.5

E8 -- 1+2.5+3+4.5+13+15 = 39/6 = 6.5

Like I said, my nod, based on OOC fluff goes to the LL.  However, losing Susquehanna obviously changes the "this point forward" comparisons.

How can you honestly have SC over SJF?

SJF blasted them two weeks ago by 27

Ask Joy Solomen and Mike DeLong.  That's how they had it... But I'll grant you that point.  Flip them and it doesn't affect my numbers.

This is where the NCAA's numbers are just BS...

Its time for MNF.. Two thoughts:

1. Did anyone see the Dan Patrick show when he had Chris Johnson on?  He sounded stoned.  Dan Patrick after they quickly ended the call "I think we found the only thing that Chris does slow"..

2.  Matt Millen.  Is he gay?  Didn't anyone notice Steve Young now sits on the far right of the set?? That's the side the player of the game sits in post game coverage.  Millen was VERY touchy feely with the guys and I know I saw a couple of them give him a look.  Well, problem solved, I guess.

1. About as stoned as Dan Patrick was when he left ESPN...

2. Does it REALLY matter?

Quote from: Frank Rossi on November 22, 2009, 03:14:05 PMHowever, the SUS-DVC game was 10-7 with 5 minutes left in the 2nd quarter.  TD, INT, TD, INT, TD in four minutes sunk Susquehanna, who was hanging well with DVC for most of the first half.

Frank,

This is such a contrived argument.  How does "hanging well for the first half" prove anything?  Are you really trying to defend the quality of a team that got beat by 59?

By that logic, my 1-9 Bucs are pretty equal to the 10-0 Saints.  They were only down 10-3 at the 2-minute warning in the first half.

If you're going to throw that interesting assessment at me, JQV, then answer how one game defines an entire conference or subregion.  My point is that you can't use this game as both a sword and a shield.  Otherwise, you best be prepared to defend the thorough weakness of the Empire 8 this year.  Terd will begin to mount his evidence on that subject now if you're not careful.

Dude, I don't need to mount any evidence.  I think the evidence is all blatantly clear to everyone.  IT goes like this:

MAC
NJAC

E8

LL

NEFC

ECFC

Forget comparing the LL and the E8, in the 2007 and 2008 playoffs the E8 Champ lost to the NEFC Champ and Runner-Up respectively!

The conferences are equal. They all recruit the from the same talent pool in the northeast.

Everyone get over it. Flip a coin every year as to which is the better conference.

I guess it doesn't, bra.. Just interesting because espn made the switch.

Just saw Matt Schauba wife on some segment on there and now I wish I had been an NFL QB.. Holy blue balls.  Pbr?  Where is she on your hot-a-meter?

One more thought on Millen.. Move him back next to the players.. One night we will have some great TV moment when star player flips his lid on live TV.

Hmmm, computer crashed (logic board on iMac G5), felt pretty bad about having to come up with some cash and being out a computer for the weekend, but after skimming the past few pages, didn't feel that bad. Thanks guys.

I can't believe that this topic hasn't come up, especially given all of the debate about Bellicheck going for it on 4th and 2 vs. the Colts, the move by the Yale coach this weekend in The Game makes it pale in comparison. Can anyone think of a more redonculous coaching call, ever?? 4TH AND 22 FROM YOUR OWN 25 WITH 2:25 LEFT IN THE GAME AND YOU GO FOR IT?!!!!! Are you kidding me? How come an assistant didn't knock him down and overrule him? What the hell was this guy thinking?

Meanwhile, at the Yale Bowl ...(Stewart Mandel)

Les Miles was far from the only coach with some explaining to do Saturday. In fact, I would argue his error paled in comparison to a jaw-dropping decision by Yale coach Tom Williams that will undoubtedly go down as one of the biggest blunders in the 126-year history of The Game between Harvard and Yale.
Leading 10-7 but faced with a fourth-and-22 on his own 25-yard line with 2:25 left, Williams -- apparently determined to one-up Bill Belichick -- called for a fake punt. John Powers, who took a lateral from linebacker Paul Rice, came up seven yards short, and three plays later, Harvard quarterback Collier Winters threw a game-winning 32-yard touchdown.
"I was trying to keep momentum on the blue side," said Williams, the Bulldogs' first-year head coach. "We're playing to win the football game ... Our whole idea was to keep our foot on the pedal and not play scared."

When the game ended, Williams, 39, a former Stanford linebacker and co-defensive coordinator, shook hands with Harvard counterpart Tim Murphy, then stood slouched in the middle of the field, hands on knees, for a good 30 seconds. The magnitude of his blunder seemed to set in. Pull that stunt against Cornell and hardly anyone would notice ... but against Harvard? In front of 50,000 spectators and a national cable audience?
Williams may well coach for another 40 years and still never live that one down.

Poor ****in choice here in the world of ivy. Williams did what dlip does when playing ****ing NCAA Football 09 on PS 2, let his emotions dictate his play calling which always backfires and ends up with a destroyed controller....**** did dlip just admit to playing ****in video games?

So Frank, if Las Vegas people crunched numbers and made up point spreads for each of these teams (if they all played this week), you think each higher ranked team would be favored over lower ranked teams?

I do not think that is the case.  Then again, I have not seen Hobart, RPI, Springfield, Susq, Hartwick or Utica play this year.

I do know Ithaca and SJF found a groove late in the season.  I think they would both be favorites in games vs. Hobart, Sasquach, Union and Alfred.
