Somebody resurrect that Frank Ubiel (sp?) guy from the NESCAC board... he'll give his hugeness an honest scouting report.

Nice call. I was actually thinking about Lorenzen as well, but the difference is that Lorenzen is actually athletic, and the Hugester is not. Lorenzen was actually an inspiration to all lineman, while the Hugester is just a lucky bum.

Lorenzen always used to be drinking in the Applebee's by TMC's campus.  He's a very large human.  I've never seen someone make the "Brewtus Glass" look as small as he did.... it looked like he was drinking beer out of a toothpick.

Is 'Fat QB" still playing in the league anymore???  The funniest thing I remember about him was dumping the Gatorade bath on his coach at Kentucky about 10 seconds before LSU threw that miracle Hail Mary pass...

I've got a different take on this whole Iamhuge issue. How lucky is this kid? How many other places in the country would somebody that slow (lumbering was being generous, I'm not sure I've seen slower feet), be a running back? And not even a fullback or in a two back set, but in a one back set? Seriously, where else in America? Northern Maine? Alaska? Northern Westchester NY football was no football hotbed, trust me, but that kid wouldn't have been able to touch a ball after 4th grade Pop Warner. Instead, this kid played, what, 7 positions? What in the dlip is going on here! I'm now pissed that they didn't put him in at QB also.

And, to not only be lucky enough to find himself on a team with no talent, but to then be lucky enough to play against the worst tacklers of all time? And his team made the playoffs! I watched my share of NJ HS football in my time, but estimation of NJ football has gone down for sure, and part of me is still not convinced this isn't an elaborate hoax, because none of this makes any sense.

So I'm happy for this kid, DB as he may be, and a bit jealous and bitter. Hell, I'm now wondering that if I went to Colby instead of Union, if I couldn't have played RB in college, THAT'S how messed up this video was to me, and has me thinking crazy thoughts.

Good analysis...what would you say if he wears a Union jersey this fall?

Actually, I think the use of "you" makes it second-person with Doid being the protagonist in the discussion.  Third-person in the LLPP is encouraged, but I think second-person is frowned upon.  Can we get an official ruling?

EDIT: I just broke down and watched the video (I felt bad about the piling on, but my curiosity finally overcame me).  The comments about the tackling are spot on.  However, when I got to the blocking portion of the video I was more impressed with Josh Gordon (#22) and the cuts he was making along with his speed.  I wouldn't mind seeing him in the Purple and Gold next year, especially if he's halfway decent as a DB.

Yeah because I'm sure the coaches are so enamored with these players that they can't wait to talk about them with the posters of these boards...

I'd bite, but I think it's an NCAA violation for Union (or any other school) to discuss prospective recruits when there is an active pursuit taking place.  I guess asking the non-specific question would garner at least some clue, but I'd rather avoid such a scenario because of the potential implications.

Why would Union want bad athletes from such a lousy football state?

Frank Rossi

FR just reached Rensselaer Train Station after spending the morning with Ol' Man Rossi (henceforth, "OMR").  OMR took FR to one of their favorite breakfast spots in Shocktown -- Peter Pause on Nott Street.  It doesn't get a lot of press like Mike's Hot Dog, Morrette's Steak Sandwiches and Geppetto's Pub, but Peter Pause is the ish when it comes to breakfast and lunch.

For instance, FR got the breakfast special of 3 eggs, a load of homefries, 2 slices of buttered toast and a large hunk of ham for $4.95.  The bread is homemade every morning by Lucy, and her husband Bruno works the grill all morning (they are the owners).  Lunch specials include everything from eggplant and chicken parm to (on Christmas Eve) fish combos.  Their eggplant parm is the best around -- there is no comparison.

Any of you guys know of the place/have memories of it?

I'm so confused here.  Is this the kid, the dad, someone who doesn't like the kid posting this sh!t?  I'm so confused.  It's completely ridiculous.  If you are the Dad or the kid himself, just shut the **** up and let the coaches do their job and recruit you.  Your highlight film may have been interesting to SOME team, SOMEWHERE, but it doesn't light any fires when you come on here touting it like it's supposed to be something amazing.  It looks like a 12th grader playing 2-hand touch with a bunch of 8th graders.  I'm sure Willy P needs a left guard, why don't you just stay down in Jerzzzz.

If they were arrogant as hell and walked around with an undeserved sense of accomplishment...then Union might actually want them...

Why does MaxPreps pick undeserving athletes for their Pre-season All State watch list?
