If the guy is being a tool...then he is being a tool...and he and his kid will pay for it later on at whatever school he chooses.

What I don't understand is why someone on a social internet board would ever think for a second to call the Athletic Director of a school district, where you don't even live in, to tell him/her about the rumblings and grumblings of a parent on the D3football.com post pattern boards.  Unless it was information about money changing hands, I would tell you to get bent and stop wasting my time.  You aren't a cop Frank...let it go.

I am not saying what the dude is doing is right/proper (as if my parents did this when I was younger, I would have disowned them)...but to act like a guy is going to make his kid ineligible for trying to get him noticed is kind of a douchebag move...

It's a chicken-and-egg question, Yanks.  He didn't fess up to the whole situation until AFTER I said I left a message for the AD.  Now that he has fessed up, I'm still going to talk to the AD -- but in a proactive way to just inform him of what's happened to this point (not just on D3boards.com, but the 900 other sites this has been done on) and tell him the ball is in his court from here.  This won't be the last time a parent at Princeton High School overreaches, so there's something to be learned here.  If he tells me to "get bent," then that's his choice.

As for whether the actions constitute eligibility concerns, they do.  I'm not a cop, but I'm an attorney and know fraud when I see it -- which is what this became when you connect all the dots.  Let's say Trevor were a stock and not a football player.  There were plenty of fraud claims in the early 2000s for such activities ("pump and dump" stock schemes).  I'm not calling for anyone's arrest.  I'm simply saying, "Stop for everyone's sake.  This isn't appropriate and isn't helping anyone's future."  If that makes me a bad person, then so be it.

You are not a bad person.  You are concerned community member.  Seriously though, have you ever seen Berecruited.com?  It exists for the explicit purpose of getting a kid out there to be contacted.  By the way, it works.

The Union coach seems like a nice guy, by the way.

Once Audino gets done with you, you'll have a promise of a starting job as a freshman and a new used car...and he'll probably agree to take your stock tips... :-)

Therein lies the difference...he's NOT a stock, so the analogy doesnt fit.  Frank, its not a fraud, its just poor judgment.  If it was fraud, who has been defrauded?  He puts out his video, excessively pumps it up, his dad comes on here like an overzealous bafoon, he gets whacked by the LLPP police and its self-proclaimed Attorney General, we have some laughs and we move on.

Man, you wanna draft a Summons and Complaint, hire a process server and commence an action against him?  Maybe we could depose him.  Want a bench or jury trial?  How bout a preliminary injunction from the dad posting on here until we can get some final relief.

Unless you are an attorney for the NCAA...I say mind your business...and the kid isn't a stock, and comparing a player trying to get a scholarship to a stock like Enron is a terrible analogy...

Whichever...keep on keeping on...but I would be floored if this AD calls you back, and if he does and hears your story once...I would be even more shocked if he took more then 15 seconds to hang up the phone...

Yanks, you disagree with everyone on everything just to get a rise out of people so just go run back to the E8 board and talk about Hartwick and how huuuuge ARod's hammer is.

Not even close Terd...if you were trying to pump your kid up and someone came in here saying you could possibly make him/her ineligible for doing so...and that he was going to call your kids HS AD on you...I would still say it was the wrong move.

Plus, FR used a terrible analogy with the whole stock comment.  Might as well charge every HS coach with fraud that lists players in the program an inch or two taller then he is, or 10 pounds more.

I am not trying to get a rise out of anyone...just think it's a bad move...

I didn't have to read past the first line...Bottom line, I would never have pumped my kid up that way.  If that's the way you have to do it, then the kid either isn't good enough, or his coach needs to be fired for not doing his job.

And I agree with you on this one...I wonder if Audino is still using the standard line that I heard when discussing other schools of "second rate school, third rate program/coaching staff" that I heard way back in the day.

Really now??  Tell me more.....

Why?  Are you that hard up about people taking your stock tips?

Then you better call every single HS football coach and AD in the country and tell them that if they fudge the height/weight/40 times of their players then they are committing fraud...

It is.

If the guy is being a tool...then he is being a tool...and he and his kid will pay for it later on at whatever school he chooses.

It's fraud, Ty, be it a stock or an individual.   Stop being your normal D-bag self.

Then you better call every single HS football coach and AD in the country and tell them that if they fudge the height/weight/40 times of their players then they are committing fraud...

It is.

Let me know how those phone calls go...and good luck with that.

No..they seem to be doing quite well.    I was more interested in comparing Union to the other schools that have shown interest.    I'm all ears....

I will.  I have to go collect my ECAC North Atlantic Bowl champions hat from Union first, though.
