Yes, very uncool Frank.  What is that all about....it was a good highlight video.
I actually think it is better than most of the films out there.

Late to the party, Reg.  Read the last 20 pages.

BS Frank, I read most of the last 20 pages.
You running to the kids AD bc the dad posts about how good his son is makes me want to barf.

We got a few rib shots in and hopefully he learned his lesson.  Let it go.

Good film, I wish your son well in the recruiting process...it looks like he has been working hard.

I asked for advice before and after I called, Reg.  So don't throw the stones when the hand was already hidden.

Thanks for being a concerned citizen...you are a Great American...

And you are a Great Oneontan.

Thanks man...   Take how much fun you had playing (did I tell you I played college football, btw?) and multiply it by 1000.  That's how much fun it is watching your kid play.

Regarding recruiting...it is getting near the end.    (I have to view Union with a little more scrutiny now though..to be quite honest.  Their graduates seem to be intelligent but somewhat prickly).  He has a lot of good choices but that's all because of his hard work.

If the guy is being a tool...then he is being a tool...and he and his kid will pay for it later on at whatever school he chooses.

What I don't understand is why someone on a social internet board would ever think for a second to call the Athletic Director of a school district, where you don't even live in, to tell him/her about the rumblings and grumblings of a parent on the D3football.com post pattern boards.  Unless it was information about money changing hands, I would tell you to get bent and stop wasting my time.  You aren't a cop Frank...let it go.

I am not saying what the dude is doing is right/proper (as if my parents did this when I was younger, I would have disowned them)...but to act like a guy is going to make his kid ineligible for trying to get him noticed is kind of a douchebag move...

It's a chicken-and-egg question, Yanks.  He didn't fess up to the whole situation until AFTER I said I left a message for the AD.  Now that he has fessed up, I'm still going to talk to the AD -- but in a proactive way to just inform him of what's happened to this point (not just on D3boards.com, but the 900 other sites this has been done on) and tell him the ball is in his court from here.  This won't be the last time a parent at Princeton High School overreaches, so there's something to be learned here.  If he tells me to "get bent," then that's his choice.

As for whether the actions constitute eligibility concerns, they do.  I'm not a cop, but I'm an attorney and know fraud when I see it -- which is what this became when you connect all the dots.  Let's say Trevor were a stock and not a football player.  There were plenty of fraud claims in the early 2000s for such activities ("pump and dump" stock schemes).  I'm not calling for anyone's arrest.  I'm simply saying, "Stop for everyone's sake.  This isn't appropriate and isn't helping anyone's future."  If that makes me a bad person, then so be it.

Therein lies the difference...he's NOT a stock, so the analogy doesnt fit.  Frank, its not a fraud, its just poor judgment.  If it was fraud, who has been defrauded?  He puts out his video, excessively pumps it up, his dad comes on here like an overzealous bafoon, he gets whacked by the LLPP police and its self-proclaimed Attorney General, we have some laughs and we move on.

Man, you wanna draft a Summons and Complaint, hire a process server and commence an action against him?  Maybe we could depose him.  Want a bench or jury trial?  How bout a preliminary injunction from the dad posting on here until we can get some final relief.

It's fraud, Ty, be it a stock or an individual.   Stop being your normal D-bag self.
No its not Frank...my gosh, you think because you say it it is true...and thos ein disagreement are d-bags.

You put it out there so now you have to be exposed as incorrect.  In order for something to be fraud in the law, a party has to rely upon a material misrepresentation in entering into an agreement.  The present scenario lacks all of these elements Frank.  Is the video a material misrepresentation of thsi kid's ability?  Not unless you are claiming that the kid running the ball in the video is not the kid seeking the college.  Would a college reasonably rely upon the dad's statements of other schools showing interest as a material factor in 'signing' this kid....dont think so.  Certainly the coaching staffs are relying MATERIALLY on the actual video, maybe some unedited game film, conversations with his coaches, parents etc.....NOT some claims of interest from other schools.

Frank, you were right up to a point and now you are overreaching like the Dad.

I will.  I have to go collect my ECAC North Atlantic Bowl champions hat from Union first, though.

Ummm....congrats?

Thanks.  You getting one this year?

No...I thought the Susquehana Liberty League Champion hats looked better...

yanks with the zinger!

Mr. Huge what kind of car do you drive?

It's only a zinger if Hartwick beat Susquehanna.  By the way, Jonny, here:

I understand because my father was the same way.(so were alot of other kids parents)  He did the same filming and cut up my recruiting video.  The recruiting process is the most exciting time, since all the work and effort you put in through your HS career (in athletics and academics) finally pays off.

The funny thing is, I work with a guy who has a son that is 13 who says he already has D-1 coaches contacting him in regard to working with him and getting him ready for college, as in "we have our eye on you, you should play here"  Should we throw the book at him too, Frank?

constructive fraud
n. when the circumstances show that someone's actions give him/her an unfair advantage over another by unfair means (lying or not telling a buyer about defects in a product, for example), the court may decide from the methods used and the result that it should treat the situation as if there was actual fraud even if all the technical elements of fraud have not been proven.

 fraud
n. the intentional use of deceit, a trick or some dishonest means to deprive another of his/her/its money, property or a legal right. A party who has lost something due to fraud is entitled to file a lawsuit for damages against the party acting fraudulently, and the damages may include punitive damages as a punishment or public example due to the malicious nature of the fraud. Quite often there are several persons involved in a scheme to commit fraud and each and all may be liable for the total damages. Inherent in fraud is an unjust advantage over another which injures that person or entity. It includes failing to point out a known mistake in a contract or other writing (such as a deed), or not revealing a fact which he/she has a duty to communicate, such as a survey which shows there are only 10 acres of land being purchased and not 20 as originally understood. Constructive fraud can be proved by a showing of breach of legal duty (like using the trust funds held for another in an investment in one's own business) without direct proof of fraud or fraudulent intent. Extrinsic fraud occurs when deceit is employed to keep someone from exercising a right, such as a fair trial, by hiding evidence or misleading the opposing party in a lawsuit. Since fraud is intended to employ dishonesty to deprive another of money, property or a right, it can also be a crime for which the fraudulent person(s) can be charged, tried and convicted. Borderline overreaching or taking advantage of another's naiveté involving smaller amounts is often overlooked by law enforcement, which suggests the victim seek a "civil remedy" (i.e., sue). However, increasingly fraud, which has victimized a large segment of the public (even in individually small amounts), has become the target of consumer fraud divisions in the offices of district attorneys and attorneys general.

 fraud in the inducement
n. the use of deceit or trick to cause someone to act to his/her disadvantage, such as signing an agreement or deeding away real property. The heart of this type of fraud is misleading the other party as to the facts upon which he/she will base his/her decision to act. Example: "there will be tax advantages to you if you let me take title to your property," or "you don't have to read the rest of the contract-it is just routine legal language" but actually includes a balloon payment.

Entry into a college is a property right based on limitation of resources and scholarships that may attach.  Ty, go get your JD.  If you have one, then go to some CLEs quick.

Atleast the kid is keeping his options open and not jumping at the first team showing interest.  He looking from the #1 team in D1(Florida) all the way down to the 4th place team in the LL(Rochester).  That is pretty admirable if you ask me.

Reg, Yanks and Ty... Answer me this simple question.  Do you condone the actions that, to a degree, you're defending?
