good call.  ND needs a guy that can recruit in the midwest (i.e. OH, MI and IL, etc).

There just isn't any effing way ND can pull top kids from SoCal, TX, and FLA, etc anymore.  Even the NBC TV things no big deal given all the media outlets these days.   You see just as many Mt West, WAC and C-USA teams on TV as you do ND.

Additional comments from a buddy of TGP's re this:

They needed someone from the college ranks (successful pro coaches don’t succeed in college, only unsuccessful pro coaches do) – that ruled out Gruden or Dungy or those other “dream candidates”

Would have been difficult to get an established college big gun away from a big-time southern program like Stoops or Meyer – Meyer just isn’t ready yet, though I think they could have made a run at Stoops it would have taken a while and possibly cost them other candidates

The days of the “we’re on TV” and national spotlight are over for ND – everyone is on TV; kids from the south and west are for the most part not going to go to a conservative religious school in South Bend IN when they could have just as much (or more) exposure at a warm party school with loose blond co-eds, not freeze, and major in FOOTBALL rather than a real subject

And they need to be in the Big 10 – its time; at least I think they know that they have to recruit the mid west and east coast , and selectively target the CA/TX/FL kids as needed, just as ohio St and Michigan do – hell, if Kelly can get Ohio kids to go to Cincy over OSU, he can get some players to ND

And an Irish Catholic from the Northeast coaching ND? Perfect

think they should of gone after stoops in a big way. ND doesnt need another off. guru....their problem has been on the def. side of the ball for several years now. they can score points their problem is they cant stop anyone. Under weis they always did well offensively and scored. Just they gave up huge amounts of points every game. Plus stoops being a raised midwestern catholic would of fit in perfectly there.

As a ND fan, I don't think they could've gotten Stoops.  My pops (who still thinks ND is what they were in the 70s) was saying to either get Stoops or Jon Gruden.   They need a coach like Kelly (on that level) to help them get back to a level where they could get a Stoops or Meyer if they had to in 5 years or so.  Kelly was the only championship coach at that level they were looking at.... Jim Harbaugh, Skip Holtz, Randy Edsall, so they looked past the need for defensive mind and went with the best candidate and I'm glad they did.  He's fiery and his players love playing for him.  You'll see a different attitude from ND in the future.

Now.... I caught up on my Jersey Shore viewing and all I have to say is wow

+JD (poofy hair tattooed kid) "punched" some dood in the face during a fight and later said "when one of my boys is getting messed with, Ima step up!!"   Well, after he saw that clip he probably saw that my 7 year old niece could slap harder than that.  It was weak sauce.
+The Situation --- I don't have the time to go on about him.  He needs some couch time
+Snooky is going to end up prego and in a gutter one day because of her very low self esteem.
+JWOW --- looks like a guy in the face.  Good thing she splurged on the tatas.

The show cracks me up

SF has dated a girl from UT ---- very hottie and she was one of those girls that went by her first and middle name (Jamie Lee) BUT, she was absolutely nuts also.  Her friends were also hot, but a little bit nutty.  She was the fruitiest of all of them but that made for some fun times too  ;)     Two thumbs up to Tennessee girls..

heard 1/2 UC players stormed out of the players banquet when announced he was leaving for ND. Definetly some questions about kelly since most of the players he has won w/ are D'Antonio's. Not saying he wont be successful but it definetly leaves some serious questions in lots of peoples minds. PBR really feels for the seniors they have had this 'ish happen twice now in their 4 year career at UC first w/ D'Antonio leaving right before the bowl game for michi st. and now kelly. Cant blame the kids for being p'd off their coach is leaving right before a bcs bowl game.

I have always wondered why I never really gave 2 ishs about Major college football...I used to think that it was because I was always playing on Saterdays so I never had a favorite team or watched it much....but now I know why....these piece of sh. coaches who probably storm into locker rooms on Saterdays with the "we are going to take on the world" attitude and then when the world is before them, they bail for another team.

And dont tell me about the money and the security and their family...cuz I already know that lame argument thanks to Latrell Sprewell.   D1 college football sucks in every way.  The star players are looking out for their peeps and leave early.  the coaches are saying, ****, if the palyers dont care why should I care?  Millions of fans who support the financial enterprise are doing it for entertainment value.

They dont even have a national championship game that isnt run by someone's bottom line.

I am so glad that I am white and slow and was only good enough to play WR for a d3 school.

Screw you Brian Kelly....I hope the Golden Dome collapses on your Porsche when you arrive at 2 a days in August....

D3 Football....for the love of the game!!!

....and I am not done yet....BK...it was his dream job...bull****....did he tell his players that every week when they were pouring their blood and sweat for him?

"Guys....I have something to tell you....I really dont want to be here, just using this as a stepping stone to ND...you know, that school that is 0-8 against ranked teams in the past 5 seasons....so, uhhhm....Go get 'em boys!"

...this just in...Larry Kehres has just bailed out on MUC...he took his dream job at Duluth Community College as a gym teacher....the pay is excellent so he couldnt pass it up.   MUC will finish its season under an interim coach.
