We have a winner -- according to the front page, Offensive Lineman Blaine Westemeyer (Augustana) has won the Gagliardi Trophy.  Congratulations to him -- sounds like a definite deserving winner from everything I've read.

Obviously, I was pulling for John Peters (Union) to win the award, but I'm glad we have our first lineman recipient of the award -- and glad that it stayed in the hands of a senior (since the criteria for the award would suggest that to be the probable scenario since seniors generally have more community service and academic aspects on their resumes than underclassmen).  I look forward to meeting Blaine in Salem at the ceremony Thursday night.

PBR...

too many rumors floating around about the halladay deal pbr is withholding judgement until all the official terms are released... pbr is sure 'gro is just diggin all this bazeball talk in december!

Level 4 today for SF. . .  not too bad for what was consumed.

pbr, SF didn't know what was going on yesterday but took a call from a buddy (who's from Philly)... he was ecstatic.  The Phils have as solid a nucleus as SF can remember for sometime.  Nice to see teams take chances and make (possible) moves like this.  Keep in mind, SF lives in Cincy.. a big free agent signing has been Thom Brenanamen replacing George Grande on PBP for the Reds TV Broadcasts.

actually the big loser so far in the off season in pbr's eyes is the angels. all the big time players are off the table and the angels not only didnt get any but lost some. will be interesting to see if they stand pat or look to make some sort of big trade.

I like some of the players on the Angels, but I think they are on the downside of things for a few years.  They have some decent pitching, but not much else:

RE: Warner.  I can't catch a break on QB's in my FF experience.  Had been rotating Cutler and Flacco for the first half and finally gave up and went with Farve and Warner, Warner gets a concussion and misses 1.5 games and Farve hasn't been as hot the last few weeks.  Luckily, my "stars" - A Peterson, A Johnson and R Rice all blew up this week, so I was ahead by 80 pts going into last night (opponent only had V Davis left).  Now were in the playoffs and I'm going against a guy who's got P Manning, M J Drew and Chris Johnson, so I'mm probably done with this FF experiment.

Dirty Jersey Shore:  I'm very disappointed I'm not going to see this "situation".  I'd be interested to find out what the criminal outcome is.  Is this guy going to end up in Rikers getting the OZ treatment?  Be Shillinger's biayach?

SF is diggin the OZ reference... great show.  SF remembers when it first came out on HBO and now gets to see it again on the 101 Network.  The 101 Network is great... you have replays of the Dan Patrick Show, Friday Night Lights and Oz.

+K, Adabesi

and FYI... Peyton Manning is only supposed to play 2-3 series on Thursday night.  Its been a huge deal all week as "experts" are saying the Colts owe it to the NFL to try to finish undefeated.  Colts management wants to rest the players and since they've already clinched Home-Field throughout, its expected the "resting" to start with the game this Thursday.

JT

Guidos and Guidettes in Jersey.  Cortland grad "gym teacher" punches chick. After over two weeks of vacation in the Med, JT is glad to see that not much has changed since he left.

BTW the top unsolicited offer for MJT in Egypt was land, 1,000 camels and youngest daughter. JT thinks the non-merchant (others were trying to sell us ish) with the Rolls and bling was serious.  Apparently there's a resemblance to Nefertiti.  Course they probably say that to every Filipina.

If any of your significant others is blond with blue eyes, be prepared inundated by doods trying to take her your hands.  Blonds drive 'em nuts in Eqypt.  Little kids will actually try to touch the hair since they've hardly ever seen anything like it.

Much fun. Barcelona was a blast.  Barcelona beat Real Madrid for first place the night before the cruise and it was a real party atmosphere.  Had a great time hanging out with some of the faithful fans in the bars after the match.

Athens was cool. Rhodes was cool.

A few smaller stops of relative insignificance Malta and Cyprus.

The killer was missing Palermo.  Too much wind in the Strait of Messina, and not enough time to go around.  Sicily was the last port before coming back to Barcelona. JT loves the mafia stuff... the food etc.

Hat tip to those that would like to be football broadcasters/commentators... head over there. They all suck.  These guys make RPI announcers look like Buck and Aikman.  Bonus if you know spanish, italian, or greek.

One of the SI guys has been "tweeting" that the Angels are "Definitely" going to sign Matsui.

Yet another thing to prefer D3 over "upper division" college football.  IMO Suh was clearly the best player in the nation (and will likely be the #1 player selected in the NFL draft) but he gets passed over by a RB for Heisman.

TGP realizes that the GA is different from the HT but just the fact that a) an OL was nominated and b) won the GA shows a more holistic view over the BCS level.

OMG -- I just had an Apple Jack sighting in the lurkers category.  WTF have you been up to that has led to your silence, AJ?!?!?!

Once again, we couldn't think this ish up if we tried, or at least, no one would believe it...

Brad Ferro, Suspended Gym Teacher Who Punched Snooki, Also a Cage Fighter

Brad Ferro was arrested, charged with assault, fined $500 and ordered by a judge to take anger management classes after he punched Jersey Shore star Snooki Polizzi at a bar in August. So you have to wonder what his anger management counselor has to say about his participation in cage fighting.

Brad Ferro is in the red. He's about to be knocked out. (From TMZ)
In a video dredged up by TMZ , Ferro can be seen entering the ring in a Mixed Martial Arts match against Spencer Cook last January. Brad grapples briefly with the other fighter before being dealt a devastating blow straight to the dome that knocks him out. Brad hits the mat and the ref quickly calls the fight.

In case you haven't seen the other video that's given Brad instant infamy, he's in a bar where the cast of Jersey Shore can be seen drinking when he punches Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi in the face. Snooki drops to the floor and her friends help her out.

That's ironic -- I was talking to a friend of mine out in Minnesota (a huge UFC guy who used to be recruited a lot to fight) last night about how I could see Ferro being recruited for the UFC or the like and accepting it since his future in teaching is probably zero now.  My friend was like, "Don't think that the UFC would stoop to that level..."  He suggested Ferro might end up in a "celebrity boxing" type scenario.  Apparently, the MMA stuff didn't quite work out already.  What's left for this guy?

You realize Yanks is about to spout off about what a crappy award it is, etc., right?

Definitely a huge congratu****inglations to Blaine Westemeyer on his Gagliardi Award. Congrats also to all the other finalists (especially John Peters). What a great honor for these student athletes.
