Lemme follow up on some recent LLPP posts

1. DLIPPING excellent work by Dlip and TGP on the night before xmas posts. both were hilarious.

2. Patrone Wood is the baddest name since dick butkis.

3. Props are in order for Dewcrew's victory in the LLPPFFL. Gro got a little silly in the lineups at the end (Josh Freeman?) and it cost him. Congrats!

+K for the LLPPFFL kudos. My first-ever win in any fantasy anything league!

PBR, I think Leach should've known better than to have even placed the kid in those situations -- if he knew they were out for his blood at Texas Tech, then he needed to avoid anything remotely like what happened until things smoothed over.  As Bobby Knight can tell you, you can only spit in the face of the administration so many times when you're under scrutiny in the first place (and with an $800,000 payment to Leach pending if he coached the bowl game based on an incentive in his contract) before you get bounced.  What he did served NO PURPOSE in the whole scheme of things.  So, regardless of whether James was whining to get his coaches in trouble or whether the conditions were "adequate," Leach was an idiot for not thinking for one minute about his own actions.  Remember, he's the adult in that situation -- there IS a higher standard.  As I said before, he probably should've considered whose son he was dealing with since Craig James has been an ESPN, CBS and ABC commentator since the early 1990s.

While the kid is no saint (he was a pain in azz), head coaches have to be above that.

Some of the quotes from players are actually surprising to me.  Here's a sampling from the ESPN story:

Some Texas Tech players believed the university's decision to dismiss Leach was appropriate.

"I have no complaints about this decision. [Leach] put Adam [James] in a shed like an animal. Like an animal in a cage. That was bull," defensive lineman Chris Perry said. "You call other players. I think it was a good decision. We have our pep back now. We practice hard this week. We had less stress this week. You know why? Because he's gone."

Wide receiver Tramain Swindall said he supported the decision to fire Leach.

"I do agree and I'm supporting Adam and what he's doing because it's the right thing to do," Swindall told the AP in a telephone interview.

Swindall said he believes Leach was at times out of line in how he treated players.

"And so do most of the players," he said.

"It wasn't just about Adam. It was always a negative vibe."

Said cornerback Taylor Charbonnet: "The players make this team, not one coach. As Adam's friend, I didn't like it at all what [Leach] did. He was my brother and I didn't agree with it. I don't know why [Leach] did that. But I know we are fully behind [interim] coach Ruffin [McNeill]. We love him and support him."

As the first person on LLPP to cross the dateline, I wish you all a Happy New Year.
Currently 2:30 am, 1 Jan 2010.

The Rev was at "The Beatles" bar and the place was like a ghost town.  Rev spent the evening talking to the bar tender who is only 21.  nice to spend some time with a girl half one's age, innit?  Yes it is, even if nothing comes of it.

That's why KS waited until he was in his thirties to attend college, so he could legally pick up chicks half his age.  It's good to be a dirty old man.

Happy New Year to the entire LLPP! Can't ****ing believe it's 2010 already. Dlip remembers being on a roof in Boston and partying for the millennium. How time flies! On another note the situation with Leach is getting very interesting. dlip concurrs with Rossi's earlier comments. You can only piss off and **** on your superiors for so long until it catches up to you. It seems as if the admin, as a collective whole, were chomping at the bit to get rid of leach and this situation fell right in their laps. dlip does not know the validity of the accusations regarding putting the kid in question in lock-ups (or whatever the **** you call them) but if these accusations are true that sounds incredibly ****ed up to dlip and amazes him that other coaches and players allowed this to happen. dlip was never one to question a coach or bitch in college BUT if his coach was locking up other players in ****ing rooms and **** he thinks he might have said a little something...just a little.
