They added the red stripe towards the end of the year because a horned frog has red in its eyes.. SF is an encyclopedia of useless info.

Nobody appreciates useless info like Doid, for I am King of Minutia. +K for the info

Not to change this titillating conversation back to football, but,

the Redskins are working overtime to seduce Mike Shanahan into taking the head coaching job.

I predict he will take it and they will still stink.

The assembled team could not beat the SD Chargers JV team and a new head coach is going to turn them into world beaters?

I think the line that best sums it up is from the movie "Die Hard" after the chopper is blown out of the sky - "better get some more FBI guys!"

They have talented athletes but no team chemistry and changing the head coach will not be the remedy they seek.

The boy wonder owner cannot help but tinker with his erector set and therefore this latest euphoric attempt will bring the faithful back to this point again in a few years.

Plus - they happen to be in the NFC East and I do not see the Eagles, Giants or Cowboys just laying down for Mr. Shanahan and Mr. Allen in the future either.

The sex banter was funny though.

Firing Norv was a big mistake.  Eventually, the NFL will step in.  They forced the Giants to hire George Young. They got the Bengals to spend money, as cheap as they are. And now they are winning.

Vinny Cerrato screwed everything up in DC.  And who fires Casserly with his resume?

I think Detroit is turning it around... again.  But as bad as everything is in Michigan, will anyone be left to go to games?

I can't agree with Norv, I lived in DC during the end of his tenure, and his press conferences alone were cause for him to be fired. I am equally cursed now living in Dallas with Wade Phillips press conferences (which I rate worse than Norv's). And in between living in New York during the Eric Mangini era.

Couldn't agree more on Vinny Cerrato though, the real cause of what ailed the Skins. Still unclear as to how he got the job, but actually started respecting him for his ability to hang onto a plush job with no discernible skills, other than riding shotgun on Danny Boy's jet at their annual midnight flights to overpay free agents at the start of the signing season. Can't hate a man for that.

... Not sure why you would choose Craig James to do the Alamo Bowl.

Doid, I checked this out to make sure.

ESPN made its talent decisions on or around November 29, 2009:

http://www.usatoday.com/sports/columnist/hiestand-tv/2009-11-29-espn-abc-bowls_N.htm

Texas Tech accepted their Alamo Bowl invitation around December 5, 2009:

http://news.google.com/archivesearch?q=%22texas+tech%22+accepted+alamo+bowl&scoring=n&hl=en&ned=us&sa=N&sugg=d&as_ldate=2009/12&as_hdate=2009/12&lnav=dt

I'm not saying that ESPN planned this, I'm saying that why wouldn't they view this as a possible conflict and switch the assignments? And while Texas Tech may have officially accepted their invite on December 5th, we all know how the bowl selection process works, and everyone was pretty comfortable that TTech as the #4 Big 12 team would get the Alamo invite (see Mandel's Nov 23rd projection here: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/writers/stewart_mandel/11/23/bowl.projections/index.html)

Really not a major issue, just adds to the whole mess.

If Nebraska had beaten Texas in the Big XII Championship Game, it would've reshuffled bowls for the Big XII since Texas would've been a second BCS Bowl team, most likely.

So, you think no one at ESPN had any idea that Texas Tech would probably play in the Alamo Bowl? They absolutely knew, and did it on purpose, let's be honest. And it wouldn't surprise me if Craig James didn't request it.

Did you also live in Cincy for the Shula era?  At least I was already in NJ for the Handley/Kotite debacle.

ESPN's projections were not by any means in stone as of the time their decisions were made:

F*ck you Frank!

If I got a nickel everytime this was said...

(...U89 would be bankrupt.)

Why does someone with so many skeletons continue to goad me??

Ummmm... Do tell?  What skeletons are these?

[EDIT: By the way, that statement earlier about the nickel was A JOKE.  It followed a hilarious commercial about Bud Light.  Lighten the hell up for God's sake, U89!]

I disagree, they laid down for Schott and Gibbs, why not Shanahan? Buying a name brand coach always works.

Shannahan never did a damn thing without Elway...  The Redskins will still suck

PBR...

finally ready for some real college football and the last 2 nights of yawners....hopefully the tv ratings suk and the ncaa gets the hint and looks to a playoff system that would actually deliver big ratings/money.

Happy New Year all.

Yesterday was a very bad day for G Tech fans (and newly adopted, transplanted, damn yankees).  First, Tech loses in BB to crappy UGA (building up hatred for those guys), then the FB team throws another stinker up.  Although, after the first few series, the defense played a bit better.   I went to three games this year (UNC, VT and UGA) and this defense can't hold the jockstrap of the D from Tenuta a couple of years ago, but the offense did seem better.  Everyone is sweating P Johnson now, but two straight crappy bowl performances, a porous defense and, quite frankly, he's playing with Gailey's guys.  I think that if they don't win a meaningful bowl game or do a little better than this year (meaning win ACC championship AND beat UGA in the same season), he'll be out even if he produces an otherwise stellar overall record.  The OOC is pretty KSU also, but that's not his fault (getting KU the next two years).

Scarlett Johansson - PA would love the opportunity to play romantic opposite in a movie even without SF's awesome knowledge.   Knowing that now, PA might have to kidnap Steven Spielberg's kid or something drastic to get a leading role.

FR- go to the ContainerStore on 58th and Lex.  They do pretty good closets (equal to or better than California Closets for less and you can easily take it with you when you go - my wife used to be a back office/administrative/scheduling/hiring/cash mgt mgr there).  Plus there's a girl Amanda there with big cans and a 5ish face who's ready to play ball after one drink (and from what I understand is like the Ty Cobb/Pete Rose/Rickey Hnederson of playing ball - e.g. dirty and energetic).

Lastly, how 'bout Chris Dodd resigning.  Seems supr shady.

SF did... he was a complete moron.  But his press conferences weren't as bad as they had under Dick LeBeau.  They took the cake.

how did pbr miss this place at 58th and Lex?  pbr worked at our offices on 59th and lex!!

Ground floor of the Bloomberg offices (Vornado owned) on the corner of 58th.  My wife was involved with the opening (she worked previously at the one on 6th and 18th) back in 2006.  They actually got a pretty sweet deal on the rent, surprisingly given the timing.

Generally speaking, most of the female employees are either not attractive or like ladies, but the custome base is surprisingly impressive.  If you're going to send any friends in on a mission, this girl I speak of is tall, from the Boston area and did her college at Hamilton (she likes booze and acting a little crazy).

Does Bloomberg still have the tech startup interior to their offices?  Was there a number of years ago and I recall a breakroom with crazy colors and fishtanks and whatnot.  After that, we always had the sales/training reps coming to us.  Great tool/resource, those terminals are.
