NEWSFLASH
Associated Press: Los Angeles, CA. New USC Trojen coach Lane Kiffen has left USC after one day to coach Division 1 football powerhouse...FCU (****ing Clown University). Although USC is currently under investigation by the NCAA for rule violations from their tenure under Coach Pete Carroll, there are new alligations regarding Kiffen's Coaching and Recruiting style during his 24 hour tenure at Southern Cal. Kiffen who signed a multi-million dollar contract with FCU 30 minutes ago had this to say,"I am a proven coach at the college level, I think it's obvious. I mean who can go into Tennessee and lead them to a 7-6 record in one season? How can anyone blame me for taking to best jobs available? **** if Obama left office tomorrow and the Presidency was available I would be sitting in the White House tomorrow with my pop as the Vice President."

Come and listen to my story 'bout a coach named Lane
The poor Volunteer was really glad his daddy came
And then one day, he was shootin' off his mouth
And out came the news, Ole Petey had run out

Carroll that is. From the Trojans. USC.

Well, the first thing you know when Lane became aware
The kin folk said "Lane, move away from there."
Said "Californy is the place you oughtta be!"
So they left a Vol pup,
And they moved to USC.

Some of you guys are kinda ridiculous on this coaching matter.  If you don't like the guys or the programs that's one thing, but you can't fault these guys for going to greener pastures.

Case in point, you are back in the job hunt market...your 'ideal' job is unobtainable.  Maybe it's filled, maybe they can't justify a new position, whatever the case.  So, you take a different job, that is a good one, but maybe not everything you hoped.  HR from Company 1 calls you 6 months later with a better offer, and it's the job you've wanted...What do you do?  Are you loyal to the company you originally took the job with?  I know my answer.

It's all about timing, and these guys are going to take the opportunity when they can, because that opportunity might not come along for a long time if ever.  You guys are so ****ing critical of everyone because they take different jobs.  It's a business for crying out loud.

agree w/ some of your point. pbr also blames the ncaa for allowing this to happen but in reality not sure legally how to contain it. basically all of UT's recruits just got hosed and have no idea what to do. same w/ usc's recruits although good to see kiffin's staff violating rules already w/ holding his presser and asst.'s in a back room calling recruits not to go to class and enroll at usc during the ncaa's quiet period. but now UT is going to hire a coach rumors seem to be them going after cutliffe at duke since he coached for a long time at UT. so then duke is sent scrambling....its only 3 weeks until the signing period and the domino effect of this 'ish is truly ridiculous. from schools, admin, recruits, parents, etc....all in search of the mighty $ w/ no loyalty anymore. well at least psu still has joepa but who knows what will happen when he is gone...

SF is cheering this because he doesn't like USC... and Lane Kiffin hasn't done much on the field ---- What did he do to merit the Raiders job?  Did his 5-15 record in Oakland merit the head job at Tennessee??  Then 7-6 at Tennessee gets him the USC job?

SF can't wait to see his coaching ability..

I think this is a good point here.  If Tennesee didn't want him to leave, then why didn't they make him sign a binding contract that said he couldn't leave to another school?  Blame Tennesee for not making him sign a contract like that.  Of course, no NCAA school makes coaches sign contracts like that, because you wouldn't get anyone to sign them.

But thats acutally a good question.  Would it be illegal to have a contract like that?  Maybe its just the possibliity that it may cause too much of a grey area if a coach doesn't want to stay....

I dunno.  I can't say I blame Kiffin either.  I mean, USC is a place that he has a lot of connections too.  He takes the risk of hurting his own reputation so we don't have anyone to blame really but him right?  I think USC and he can live with that.

Like TGP said before he's not a KidKiff fan but you guys may be surprised as to how the easy this transition will be for SC.
Business as usual for SC

KidKiff is set up nicely with a great staff that can coach allowing him to just be the face/CEO (i.e. he won't really need to coach).

What blue chip recruit on D wouldn't want to play for PaKiff?  Same deal if Chow signs up for OC.  If Barkley gets Chow for 2+ years (and doesn't get injured) he'll probably win the Heisman (Palmer and Leinart did).

Another benefit is SC's relatively easy(ier) 2010 schedule.  Season opener in Oahu (TGP needs to look into that!), home opener vs UVA (sucky ACC team), road OCC game vs Minnesota (did you say kill all the golfers?), Pac10 opener vs. Wazoo (sucks) and then Pac10 Home opener vs. the UDub Sark Huskies (who won last season mostly due to limp dlip Aaron Corp).

ND comes to LA as does Oregon and Cal.  Only real tough road games TGP sees is to the Farm (aka Stan), OSU (the dreaded Corvallis) and AZ (another game where SC clutched defeat from the jaws of victory this year).

SC will probably be 5-0 going into the Stanford game and have a legit shot at 11-2 season.

I am psyched that USC brought Kiffen on board...it gives me hope that Notre Dame might actually beat USC and end this miserable losing streak sometime before 2020...

Former SC players happy re Kiff - SC program will get back to 2004 form

of course they are...the current players now will get the same access to what they had i.e. hostesses, cars, cash, etc....  ;)

more to the point for pbr its a shame garrett could of really made a difference and hired someone to cleanup the program but yet hires another snakeoil salesman. shows  that  'sc is all about the money and winning at any cost.  in reality garrett is the biggest problem at usc. that is where the admin/alumni should point to when the ncaa comes a knocking....

It is called honor and integrity and honoring the contract you signed.  When I joined the Navy I signed a six year contract, 4 years active duty, 2 years inactive reserve.  I couldn't change my mind a year in decide I wanted to go to do something else.  Also if I was in one job and offered a better job I would give the current company a chance to match the offer and position.
