Has anyone else indulged int he show on Spike 'Blue Mountain State'?  It's about a college football team and the shenanigans at college.  It's basically all about getting wasted, getting stank on the hang-low, and pocket pu$$ies.  It's pretty awesome.  I would highly recommend to check it out.

what night is it on?

J-E-T-S. Thud. But you know, I'll take it. Can't complain about the Jet's effort today, they showed up and made a game of it for 3 quarters, but the better team won. Great season, didn't expect to get to the AFC Championship Game, now let's hope it's not another decade+ until they get to another one.

If it's any comfort, a large part of the loss was due to a d3 guy.  Pierre Garcon (MUC) had 11 receptions for 151 yards and a TD.

Nope, no comfort in that, none at all.

Now, Brett Favre just throwing a classic Brett Favre pick at the end of the Saints game? Yup, that provided me comfort.

Did it seem like Farve could have run for an easy 10 yards on that INT play?

correct-a-mundo...obviously he should have but 2 things pbr thinks worked against it. first was favre said in the post game interview he wasnt sure how many yards they needed to get for a decent shot for their field goal kicker. so he passed thinking he could get more yards than running. part 2 was w/ the bad ankle not sure how much favre thought he could get again going to being unsure about where they needed to get for their field goal kicker.

SF thinks also that the multitude of hits the Saints got on Favre caused him to throw instead of run ----- he got hit all night.  No way did he want the ball running outside.  SF likes Brett Favre, but thinks this GAME and this season was too tiring for him.  Its damn hard to be 40 and play QB in the NFL, even with the rules protecting the QBs.

SF has been this situation and getting hit a ton makes you do some stupid things (like lead the nation in INT's at one point during your senior year).

Tom Brady has done that a lot in recent years (not run for the easy 15 yards and slide).  Really limits your offense as a whole.  But that still would piss me off if I were a Vikings fan.  This could have been (it was I guess) the last offensive play of the game for Farve.  He should have known he only needed the 10 yards for a decent shot for the FG.

Not just Favre, but all the QB's yesterday were taking some shots, especially Sanchez. For all the people who yell about all of the rules protecting or "coddling" the QB's in the NFL (not referring to you SF), I'd like for them to stand in the pocket, know that you're going to get crushed by the oncoming 6'3", 250 pound linebacker running at full speed, and yet still have the balls to leave your body open and deliver the ball. I don't know if I could do it, that's for sure.

But I agree, I thought Favre had room to run for 10 yards, and as much as I don't like Favre, I feel bad that that play will be his last, I think it will haunt him.

Couldn't imagine getting hit like that by NFL guys.... standing in and delivering the ball, as you said, is very tough to do... at any level.  But the NFL is full of freaks on defense.

cuz I am bored...

the compiled predictions are as follows:

Colts 29
Jets   17

Saints 31
Vikes   26

....so that means both favorites cover, Colts go over and Saints stay under.

That is exactly the opposite of how I was going to bet.  I had both dogs covering, the Jets and under and the Vikes and over....now what???

Wow...82...not bad...off by one point in the Colts-Jets game (30-17) and two points in the Vikes-Saints game (31-28)...

Who do you have in two weeks??

love to take credit for that but thank the LLPP, et al.

That was the average of about 6 or 7 posters' predictions that i compiled.  I actually had the Colts winning 28-23 and the Saints in a 41-21 blowout.

I did cover 3 of 4 on my bets and picked up $95 though.

I like the Colts minus the 4 right now.  Not sure what the over/under is.  Guessin about 51-52.

Favre choked plain and simple.  He knows it.  The look on his face walking off the field after the pick summed it up.  there was nobody in front of him for 10 yds and all he had to do was pick up some yds and get OB.

He lived by the sword and died by it yesterday.  How many times have we seen him thread that completion and how many times have we seen him throw that pick when even a rookie wouldnt have attempted such an errant pass?

Too bad though...he was a true warrior on the football field.  No lack of guts yesterday from him as usual.  His streak of starting games is way beyond Ripken's accomplishment from a pure athletic standpoint.  Ripken's streak has a special aura because of Lou Gherig and baseball's love of numbers in general.

...but I am not convinced Favre is done.  He sure doesnt look done yet.

dlippiel

Even as a Farve hater dlip has to say he was quite steller this season and is just one tough son of a bitch. dlip feels Farve is one of the top 5-10 best QB's to ever play the game. Yet dlip must acknowledge that he also feels Brett is a HUGE ****ing ego maniac and that dlip enjoyed the last pic he threw. dlip sounds like a dick for saying it he knows but it is just how he feels.

Superbowl:

Colts: 31
Saints: 24

On one hand TGP agrees, but SIX FUMBLES is redonculous.  Favre was the final dagger in the back but the Vikes literally handed the game and the SB to the Saints.

TGP can only hope he sees the "Manning face" in two weeks.

One thing I noticed watching the game, was that the Saints were actually playing defense, and forcing a lot of those fumbles and picks...just like they've done all year.

82's Top 10 QB's of the last 3 decades:

1.  Joe Montana

2.  John Elway

3.  Brett Favre

4.  Dan Marino

5.  Peyton Manning

6.  Steve Young

7.  Troy Aikman

8.  Jim Kelly

9.  Warren Moon

10. Tom Brady

...This is tough.  It is tough to weight SuperBowls versus pure stats.  Example:  Jim Kelly ahead of Tom Brady.

Hon. Mention to Phil Simms and Kurt Warner.

Best of the rest...Cunningham, Bledsoe, Anderson McNair and Hostettler.

I am sure I missed somebody glaring...disclaimer....did not use the internet, just off the top of my head.

Speaking of fumbles, how in thee hell did Pierre Thomas hold onto the ball on that 4th down jump over the pile? That Viking backer put his hat right on the ball full speed, the ball was basically out of his hands, and somehow he adjusted and held on. Incredible.
