btw for those of you who havent had enough of tim tebow he is going to do a anti abortion commercial during the superbowl.....wtf? honest to god please just go away...pbr doesnt want to see any political stance during the superbowl pro/con abortion or any other political hack ad for that matter. we have enough of that crap on regularly cant we have 3+ hours of no political ads!

Right with you on this pbr. The ****in superbowl is no the place for that **** and Tebow needs to keep his personal **** to himself. In a conversation with others or a speech to those wanting to hear him discuss these issues fine. dlip agrees with U89 that Tebow deserves credit for his passion and commitment to his beliefs but keep that **** the **** away from football and the superbowl.

exactly pbr has no problem with whatever view he has...pbr's biggest concern is now this is going to turn the superbowl into a political science class....every  commercial more and more in the future will be from abortion, N.R.A., N.O.W., ACORN, Tea Party, etc etc etc....afraid its going to take the great american game where everyone comes together, even people who hardly watch football and turn it into a political action committee message....arent we bombarded w/ enough political crap the rest of the year? can we give it a rest for 3+ hours? rather than being inclusive superbowl day in a few years can turn out to be very divisive...

JT doubts you'll see anything from these other organizations.  As expensive as a SuperBowl ad is, and the fact that many people get up to pee, get a beer, or food.... these organizations are better off saving cash for political season.

still not sure...once you cross that line it forces everyone else to keep up and you will see big backers buy air time to shout from the rooftops whatever their cause.

Maybe its me.....I watch the Super Bowl for the game itself.  I rarely can even remember the commercials.

All commercials are paid advertisements....I take them as that and look at them with a grain of salt.

This kid is a college football player.  He's not the pope.  He's not the president.  He's not a senator.  He's not a$$hole Pat Robertson.  He's not a movie star.  If he wants to fight political/religious views, he should give up sports and do that.  Until then, he needs to shut his f'ing mouth and try completing a pass at the Senior Bowl...actually...try getting  a snap first without fumbling.

Huh? So only elected officials, televangelists, or people who devote their entire life to fighting for a cause have a right to express an opinion publicly? And somehow movie stars make your list, but not athletes? Movie stars? Are you ishing me? Hey, you don't have to listen to him, but he most certainly has the right to say whatever the hell he wants, and if he finds someone with the money to  buy commercial time on the SuperBowl, good for him.

For the record, I'm not a fan of Tebow (although I think he's one of the best college QB's in history), but that has more to do with all of the hype around him and just getting sick of hearing about St. Tim. And I think that this commercial will do nothing but hurt his overall image and make him a divisive figure. But the kid certainly has conviction, and he's has the right to speak his mind, just as we have a right to get another beer while he's doing it.

so your o.k. then w/ tv channels picking and choosing what ad's they are going to show?

It is their channel.  But commercials should be for commercials.

Not sure what that has to do with my point, never really gave your question much thought. As a private enterprise, yes, a business should be able to pick their ads, much the same as tv advertisers can pick their shows (Jersey Shore), as long as they abide by all current regulations (profanity, decency, etc.)  And certain affiliates have in the past refused to air certain shows or commercials, so I'm assuming that it is a legally valid option (but don't know). Personally, I'm OK with TV channels picking the ads they're going to run, and it's up to them to determine if that harms or helps their business.

heard on the herd (ya herd?) this AM from a NFL insider that the Tebow ad isn't so much an "anti-abortion" ad as simply him telling his story (i.e. his mom got pregnant as a teenager and could have had an abortion but didn't).

Maybe there's a fine line btw pro-life and anti-, etc but TGP can't knock him for simply saying that if his mom chose different, there'd never have been a Tim Tebow.

That said TGP much prefers the "bud-weis-er" fare of SB ads.  TGP's there to watch the game, not the ads.

GEAUX Saints!

my point is the tv execs are a bunch of hypocrites...they have no problem showing plenty of sex/violence on tv today but wont show a careerbuilder ad w/ a guy farting...for me pbr will exercise his right of remote control so pbr doesnt have to see tim walk on water 1 more time...

last night I came across a show on The Food Network called "Unwrapped".  They did a piece on the Garbage Plate at Nick Tahou's in Rochester.

All I could think about was the members of  PP and the many mentions the Plate has been given here.

looked tasty.

I saw that one a week ago.  That thing looked fantastic.  I like when the cook was like, it comes with hash browns and 2 eggs.  Other than that, you can get anything else you want on it.

Actually, his Mom was in the Philippines on a mission and had complications from a medicine she had been prescribed for an amoeba infection.  The doctors were advising them to abort the pregnancy, but they chose not too.

Agree with your last statement.

So who is everyone rooting for in the Game in 11 days?

On one side you got Peyton Manning, who I love to watch because he's the greatest QB of our generation.  That throw to Whitey McGhee down the middle on Sunday against the Jets was PERFECT.  Also, for the Colts is Garcon.... who would be the 1st former D3'er to get a Super Bowl ring since London Fletcher did with St Louis..

Or do you root for a team with the history of the Saints... They had BAD teams, wore paper bags and had a Hurricane make people question whether or not they should even rebuild the city.

SF has family in both cities so picking based on that is out...

Probably just hope for a great game and be glad Pittsburgh isn't anywhere near this game...

KS is wondering what is going in Archie Mannings head, his son is playing in the SB against the team he played his heart out for.

Don't know if there's any conflict inside his head, but he has said he will be rooting whole-heartedly for the Colts.
