Not even if you added two of these races in addition to the regular schedule?  You don't think Aflac, Redbul or Quaker State would want to take the chance for a winning driver and some added publicity?

(again, I know the logistics can't make this work)

nope because they have paid millions for ad campaigns built around drivers...so all the media tv/print/internet etc they had done w/ their original driver would be wasted

Right, I guess those are the logistics I am talking about.  So how about just keeping the ads with the drivers then and just moving each add to the different car?

And then it made me think of this one:  What if you did mix up the driver with the ad for the one race.  Dont you think in good faith and fun you could come up with some superbowl type commercials with each person and their different sponsor?  (ie: Jimmie Johnson walking around Home Depot looking for tools?)

We are getting a first glimpse of snow tonight.  1-3 inches expected.  My boss took today and Monday off so I'll probably be indulging in a bottle of SnoozCream by 3 today.

Wifey working Saturday and Sunday, which gives me a free Valentine's ticket so i don't have to get thoroughly disgusted out in public.  Maybe i'll cook a fancy breakfast on Sunday for her or something.

ahhh...nice  a little brunch on sunday that is always a hit w/ da women. pbr usually makes a ton of bacon w/ whatever is being cooked. cant go wrong w/ bacon

SF is headed out to this Singles Bash on Saturday night in one of the better nightspots in Cincy with a few of the old teammates... from there, it will be creepin to see what I can get away with.   If I find one to spend the night, I'll probably suggest she make breakfast the next day.

Honestly, NYE and Valentines are the two best parties for dudes..  and SF wouldn't miss them.  SF was dating someone until about two weeks ago but didn't want to have anything holding him back this weekend...

"I had a lot of options to walk-on at places, but I've come to realize that I think I'm better than Division III football so I now want to move on to better things. I had a good time (at Thomas More) and enjoyed playing with them, but I'm looking forward to moving on."

He didn't even have great stats there.  Sounds like sour grapes.

kirasdad and JU ---

exactly.  he wasn't even healthy the 2nd half of the year in 2009.  They'll be fine without him.  Though I've never seen a bridge burned at the D3 level quite like this.   Hopefully he gets offered as a Preferred Walk-On, or this wouldn't have even been worth it.  If he's sitting in the stands at UC, he'll end up at Mount St. Joe his Senior year.  He's done at TMC.

You know what, I remember a kid who played at Ithaca who thought of himself in the same way.  Thought he was going to be the next Chris Doering at Florida.  The big difference between these d3 and d1 recievers (even the best d3 ones) is the height and size.  Speed and quickness aren't always that different in my opinion.

So let me get this straight. A state government agency (SUNY) spent ~$1 million to investigate Binghamton basketball? Seems like money well spent.

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. -- Last year the Binghamton Bearcats celebrated their first trip to the NCAA tournament, a landmark achievement for a program that moved to Division I in 2001.

But at what price glory?

On Thursday the Chancellor's office of the State University of New York system released the findings of a 99-page report -- the results of a four-month, $913,381 investigation of Binghamton athletics led by retired New York chief judge Judith Kaye.

The report documents how Binghamton officials compromised academic standards in order to build a winning men's basketball team, details how coaches and athletic officials at Binghamton pressured admissions staffers to admit questionable recruits and chronicles previously-unreported allegations of criminal behavior on the part of several former basketball players.

The report recommends hiring an "athletic oversight officer" for the entire State University of New York system, reporting to the chancellor and Board of Trustees on admissions, the academic progress and behavior of student-athletes, and rules compliance.

Ha....this is ALWAYS the result of every damn govt investigation.....create more beauracracy at heavy taxpayer expense.  The investigation and many like it are frauds on the taxpayer in and of themselves.  What PRIVATE business would spend $1million to investigate what anyone with a brain that follows college athletics already knows?  That these recruits are treated differently and that academic standards are compromised???

The real questions to be asked are where did the money for the investigation go?  and who got it?  Guarantee some law firm and/or PI firm got a fat pay day AND that said firm or individuals have ties, (ie: campaign finance) to those in power who directed the investigation.

Im pretty sure most d1 scholarship programs have like 5 of these 'compliance officers'.

fair enough....BUT this is the State of New York (SUNY) athletic system, not a private institution.  Why should the NY taxpayer pay 1mil to investigate 'crimes' that actually brought money into the system.  All the while the 'crimes' were occurring, the same 'police' who were called in to 'investigate' were chauffered to the games in state paid for vehicles....and they cheered for these athletes.
