My favorite on-field fan moment was in Dodger stadium in 1976 and some loser attempted to burn the American flag in center field and Rick Monday came sprinting along and snatched it up before the butt hole could light it on fire.

Tommy Lasorda, a candidate for weight watchers even then, was sprinting out to collar the chuckle muffin but Monday beat him to it while Vin Sculley provided outstanding voice over as usual.

It is only a good thing that fan did not meet my Korean War USMC vet father - he would have personally kicked the crap out of him - when you watch your buddies die and shed your blood for your nation you tend not to have much patience with juiceheads like that.

Rick Monday is in my All-American Hall of Fame for the best play of his life on that day in 1976.

Here's to all who served, especially those who still carry their injuries only some of which are visible or known.

dlip wants to take this opportunity to wish Ed Zaloom the best of luck on his retirement. Although he was unable to make WPI a true contender in the LL he clearly helped WPI build into a decent New England college football program. To dlip, Ed seemed full of class and character and always put the kids first. Ed will be missed here in the LL even by a Union fan  .

A true Hooters story:

We were hosting a single Navy chaplain who was deploying to Djibouti for a year - and still is there in case you were wondering - and I had the kids in tow for a full day of errands while mom attended a women's retreat from our church.

Lunchtime came and I spied the local Hooters and thought - what the heck - the guy is going to a real stink hole for a year, the food is good and fast, what's the harm.

We went in, the children loved it, I bought him a troops calendar and it turned out our server was one of the women in the calendar who graciously autographed it for my colleague.

We returned home - after completing our many tasks and were watching football when Mrs. Lyco came in all aglow from her retreat. 

The first thing out of the children's mouths were, you guessed it, "Dad took us to Hooters, mom!"  Mrs. Lyco promptly uttered, "I guess I can't go on anymore women's retreats from now on."

Our bachelor friend roared and now every time we pass a Hooters anywhere there is a mini insurrection in the back seat pleading to go there for lunch.

The chaplain does not return to the good ole USA until September - freedom is not free.

My three year old son still talks about the ladies in their orange bathing suits!

Its niagara falls or nothing!! Who engineered those stupid things (must have been a RPI dood) so trying to fill up my chain saw and weed wacker that hold maybe a pint of gas pbr must of ****ing spilled 3 gallons of gas all over the lawn since you cant throttle the stupid thing. wtf it is a 5 gallon can and easily 3 gallons went out all over the lawn....just lit the lawn on fire and walked away...

Well thats the thing.  I am going to be forced to buy a funnel now.  Makes me wonder if the man who made this law has a stake in the funnel business.

In all seriousness, I read online that a US Senator or Rep from the midwest put this forward because of 2 kids who spilled gas from one of these containers near an open flame and got seriously injured or killed.  But I'm thinking if there are 5 people on LLPP alone who spilled gas like me, there have to be thousands of people in the US that have leaked gasoline all around their garages and gas equipment.  I dunno, seems real stupid if you ask me.
