I wonder if Allstate would have allowed Biff to up his liability only coverage to comprehensive after horse manure got dumped into it in Back to the Future?

Think about it.

I think we're agreeing?

Of course, of course....Even in the movies it is tough to justify letting people abuse this sort of system.
Plus, it would have completely ruined the movie if Biff said, (with a mouthful of horse poo) "It's all good, all I'm out is a $50 dollar deductible"

The Cranicks said they also forgot to pay their fire service fee on time about three years ago. But the fire department then did not hesitate to put out a chimney fire and let them pay the fee the next day.

That's very telling. I feel very bad for these people, I truly do, they seem like decent enough people. But in the end, at one point you have to take responsibility for your actions, and unfortunately, it cost them their house.

As to the reimburse the actual costs of the fire, well, I agree with an earlier post, what are the odds of them getting that money?

In the story I read, the homeowner offered the firefighters whatever they wanted to charge, but they refused anyway.

Depends on which story you read.  I read that he offered to pay the $75....not whatever they wanted to charge.

"But I'll pro-rate it!!!

Another point, I don't like how Olberman (well, let me stop there. I don't like Olberman period) and others are not reporting a key fact that I posted above, or that the issue of raising county taxes to cover the cost of firefighting were brought up in the past and denied in favor of the subscription/ fee policy. Trying to take the moral high ground against the firemen/ dispatchers/ town officials. Heck, even the Firefighting Association bashed the firefighters. Again, somehow the firefighters are apologizing to the people who once again didn't act responsibly, both in failing (again) to pay the fee and burning trash on their property.

Watching the Rangers game in the break room, I'm waiting for Madden to explain why he started Rocco Baldelli yesterday despite his 24 at bats this year (and the fact that he started the season as a roving spring training instructor), and today started Shields, who was 0-4 with a 7+ ERA during the last two months of the season.

Doid, This is an interesting twist!  Everyone (including me) has been blaming the local officials here!

I liken this to a city who has garbage trucks that pick up all garbage in the city, vs. a city that has a pay garbage service.  Should the garbage men pick up the garbage for the non-paying customers just because they have the truck and there is garbage there?

Good analogy.

Or buying insurance after a wreak and wanting the ins co. to pay for repairs.

Umm, OK, wasn't talking about you, but rather the media and others, who have been blaming the firefighters for not putting out the fire. Okay? OK!!

No, I really believe the media has everyone thinking that we should be blaming the officials.  I literally had no idea that they tried to implement a tax in the past, where it was voted down.

Excellent detective work!

So JT is watching the Yanks vs. Twins with MJT.  MJT is sooo happy that her two favorite players Pettitte and Teixeira are on the field at the same time.  Its almost not worth watching the game.

The good news is that Viper will finally have some time now to visit the boards!
Check out the official card game of the AU Pep Band - Str8 Eight!

Hobart OL raising awareness, funds for a good cause

Also,

Union vs. Hobart game notes are up (at least on U's website)

A few observations on the U-Bart game....

Union looks better on paper, especially on defense.  Hobart's 22 penalties for -255 really jumps out.  The Statesmen have to be more focused in order to win.

Also typo on page 1:  Union has won the last two straight (not three), Bart beat the U 30-20 in 2007....
