I'm watching Vikes vs. Giants.  Favre is out, but he ain't wearing a headset and helping out.  He's just ambling around the sidelines.

He hasn't been in this position in, say, 279 games...he really doesn't know what to do with himself!

Actually, 297.  Considering the sports and the positions, to me that is MORE impressive than Gehrig/Ripken.

But not as impressive as Jim Marshalls 282 consecutive games played in at DE or 270 consecutive starts.

A little over the top, certainly, but I'm pretty sure the 57 year old got the message.

German man castrates teenage daughter's 57-year-old boyfriend

An enraged father who disapproved of his daughter's older boyfriend went to his home and castrated him with a bread knife.
Helmut Seifert, 47, an ethnic German originally from Russia, was enraged when he heard his 17-year-old daughter was having a relationship with Phillip Genscher, 57.
He went to police in the town of Bielefeld where he lives but officers said they were powerless to intervene.
"The man then recruited two work colleagues at his factory and then went to the house of the victim," said police.
"The man was forced to remove his trousers and, fully conscious, he was castrated. The severed testicles were taken away by the perpetrator."
The man was close to bleeding to death but managed to call police. His life was saved but he remains a eunuch for life.
Seifert pleaded guilty and will be on trial for attempted murder next year. But he has remained silent on who his accomplices were.
He told police: "I received a phone call anonymously that my daughter was involved with a guy 40 years older than her. You said you couldn't stop him – so I did.

"I saw it as my duty as a father."

Saw this yesterday.  Can you imagine being one of the 2 'co-workers' holding the future eunuch down?  DAMN.

As the father of a young girl this story gives dlip hope. Multiply that by 20 if Seifert gets off without jail time.  :D

and btw, I think Ripken's streak is more impressive. Favre plays what, 16 times a year with at least 4-5 days in between? Ripken played 162 games/year, and only one off-day at a time and only after long stretches.

Besides, I can't stand Favre and all the fawning over him. I cannot believe ESPN kept showing him yammering on last night while the news was breaking that CLIFF LEE IS COMING BACK TO PHILLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

That's St. Cliff, if you please. Here's what I don't understand. $120M for 5 years, with an option for the 6th, is MORE per year than the Yankees and Rangers offered. So why is everyone saying that he went to Philly for less? Sure, the 7th year made it more overall money, but that's assuming that he doesn't sign a contract after his 6 years with Philly are up.

I like Cliff Lee, and wish that the Yankees had gotten him, only because it's not my wallet. I thought it was crazy to offer him 7 years, but only time will tell.

Thats still more money.  I guess you have to look at the long term picture.  Is Lee going to be worth 20 million in that 7th year?

Thanks for posting this.  As the father of a 16 year old daughter, I applaud him taking the matter into his own hands when the law wouldn't.  The guy shouldn't be facing attempted murder charges, if he had wanted to kill the perp, he could have easily.  Assault & buttery...er... battery at the worst.  Wonder if there is a defense fund set up to help this guy fight the law?
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

No, not really, I've been pretty consistent on my thoughts about Cliff Lee.

Now, hoping that Carl Crawford pulls his hamstring every other month for the next 7 years, and gets and addiction to Ring Dings and puts on 50 lbs? THOSE are sour grapes. That Adrian Gonzalez can't handle the pressure of Boston, and starts to get hives similar to Woogie in "Something About Mary"? THOSE are sour grapes.

Well done, but Gonzo could be the one to get addicted to Ring Dings.

BTW, Doid....weren't you a big fan of the Ring Ding back in the late 80's??
