Happy new year to everyone.  Things here in Korea aren't as bad as they say in the news.  If the North invades, millions of women will defend the department stores to the death.  No one can keep a Korean woman away from her Louis Vuitton bag, Gucci shoes, Prada whatevers and fur coats.  The Korean woman has the mission of spending as much money as possible and no communist sonuvabidch is going to stop her.

I personally plan to use elderly women as a human shield.  Judging them by how hard they elbow me in the kidneys every time I ride on the bus and subway, old Korean women are highly trained commandos capable of disabling men more than twice their size.

Good news.  The Rev got a new job, teaching at the Korea Maritime University in Busan, which just happens to be where the future Mrs. Rev lives.  The Rev will only teach 15-18 hours a week, and plans to use the rest of what would be normal working hours devising schemes to make some cash on the side.

Good news.  The Rev got a new job, teaching at the Korea Maritime University in Busan,

I heard that Korea Maritime plays noboby during the regular season, put's up gaudy regular season record only to get thumped in the playoffs.

KS took last tuesday off because the streets in his neighborhood were not cleared.  KS got an email from the controller at work that KS boss Durcheap told him to dock KS four day pay.  Three of the days were the days of and immediately after Mom KS funeral.  KS went into work the next day and flipped on Durcheap and company, Durcheap tried to blame the controller who is not smart enough to change his shorts without permission and would not do something like that on his own as he is too decent a person.  Anyway Durcheap decided to give KS his pay back and then he flipped out on KS and told KS that he should not be upset about the email.  KS snapped and told Durcheap everything KS had been holding back for three years.  Son of Durcheap told KS to go home for weekend and come back in Monday.  KS went in today and if looks could kill Durcheap would have killed KS when he saw him.  About lunch time Son of Durcheap AKA Fredo called KS in and told KS that he would be giving KS two months severance and letting him go on the 10th.  KS just has to go in and clean out his desk and tie up a couple of loose ends.  Ks says screw the loose ends.  KS told Fredo to give him the money up front.

KS feels like he just got out of purgatory.  MKS and KS have already discussed.  KS is planning on moving into mom KS house when school is done for the year and KS is probably going into business himself.  Finally going to try to open up a rehearsal studio, already found out there are almost none out where KS will be moving to.  KS is going to talk to some musicians he went to HS with and a couple of music store owners he knows and see if there is a market for one.  KS figures he needs to go for it now or he will be too old in a few more years to do it.

Good luck to you, KS!  That sounds awfully reminiscent of my 'retirement' from EMU (they still owe me $51K in severance, but lawyers have told me not to hold my breath).

Amazing the coincidence that as soon as they would have been providing a free 6 credit hours a semester to my son, my job became expendable.  Fortunately I could afford to redefine my layoff as 'retirement'.  IF one can afford it, some jobs become no longer worth keeping.

[While I knew it was actually dictated from higher-up, I did tell off my DH in no uncertain terms (in an earlier stint as DH, he had been the only one to lay me off before, when said son was an infant - THAT layoff was very financially painful).  To the DH's credit, he quit as DH two months later; totally fed up with the administration.]
