This is an important announcement

The Rev is going to be a dad. Baby is due September 17.
Mrs Rev1 is beaming. Her whole family is psyched. The Rev's whole family is psyched. Just about everyone is psyched, except The Rev's bank account. Mercifully, a delivery in Korea only runs about $600, whereas it's about $15,000 these days in the USA.

Big question now is, "Do we really want to keep on living in Korea?" Part of the Rev's mind says hell no. But then The Rev thinks about his job prospects in the USA and the other half of Rev's mind says hell yes.

The sex is not determined yet, but The Rev has heard Lil' Rev's heart beat. Outstanding.

Currently the names Maria (named for the BVM herself) and John Henry Hobart are at the top of the list.

footnote:
1 - "Mrs Rev" is somewhat of a misnomer. We're only a page or two into the paperwork required by both embassies and our host country to be legally wed. Documents could be finished by the end of the month, or by the summer. Who knows? But at age 40, no one has given The Rev grief for putting the cart in front of the horse. The Rev held his horses long enough.

Congrats Rev! dlip wishes you and your wife the very best!!!!!!

Congrats Rev!!  Do you guys want to find out the sex beforehand or be surprised??

The Rev wants it to be a surprise but i have to tell the doctor not to tell us. Chances are he'll tell us anyway. Koreans are like that: "but everyone wants to know...what's wrong with you? It's a _____."

The Rev lives in a studio, so it's not as if the Rev is going to do any decorating. Yeah...The Rev needs to get out of the studio as soon as Lil' Rev is born. Renting and apartment in Korea is not easy. Even a crappy one bedroom requires a $10,000 deposit plus a few hundred bucks a month. The monthly is no problem, but coming up with the 10Gs is a little tough. Luckily, the deposit gets returned at the end of the contract, so the next apartment is a little easier to afford, because we have another year to sock away some savings to add to the deposit.
The Rev is stoked for the kid, but is a little nervous about the money situation.

Good luck Rev and congrats.

Random question though....who gets the interest on that 10k deposit?

These emotions go hand and hand.  The reality is that kids make cash flow out the window faster than pretty much anything else so don't spend too much time worrying about it (i.e., it's going to happen so accept vs. be nervous about it).

You attended a fine institution of higher education (even if you still say all the faculty were/are marxist) - so you'll figure it out.

At the end of the day, there really aren't many better gigs in the world than being a Dad....

The landlord gets it. Back in the day, when interest rates in Korea were up around 25%, we would give the landlord the cash, they would put it into a 1 year CD and the money they made from the interest was enough to cover all rent. Now that rates are much lower, we still have to give up a big chunk of cash for the landlord to put into a CD but now we have tom throw in a few hundred dollars a month to make up for lower interest rates.

So at the end of the year, The Rev's principle will be returned, but all the interest earned goes to the landlord.

The rev figures that in ten years, he can have a pretty smooth apartment. After that,The Rev can take all the cash and runaway to the Philippines and live like a king.

It never fails to amaze me dudes like this, in public office no less, do stupid sheesh like this "craigslist" thing.  What did he expect would happen?

Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaawn.... what the dilly LLPP? 'gro hopes RPI doesn't consider going D1 in all sports, the reasons have been posted already... no need to be just another NEC program when you can become the class of D3. That stadium is, as the kids say, dope. It would be nice if they could get it filled on game days (and nights). Getting half of the students interested would be a good start.

p.s. congrats Rev!

mattvsmith

RPI should start handing out commemorative Star Trek sliderules and Japanese porno comic books and you'll get those seats filled at RPI's stadium in no time, 'Gro.

'gro

RPI coaching search down to about 10 candidates with 4 favorites. Gro does not know any names, but thinks Molly McGrath is in the mix.

shoes on three...

PA_wesleyfan

Wesley has been e-mailing schools all over the country to fill its schedule and Hobarts AD sent a response stating that they had two common open dates. Unfortunately Hobarts head coach put the kabosh on the game. To bad. It could give the eastern teams a measuring stick against one of DIII top teams.

Find it hard to believe Coach Cragg would turn down a game.  Usually it's the other way around.

Hey Rev - I didn't realize you started a band
