Actually, UW-Whitewater's schedule is full.

well then, yet another school that's ahead of Hobart in the scheduling race.

Noticed UWW is playing a NAIA team called "Campbellsville"....kind of interesting in that CBS is playing a KY school named Union College in their season opener.  I am guessing the co-eds at that Union College probably prefer bourbon over wine and cheese....

WW beat Campbellsville last year at their home field 37-7.  I am thinking it might be worse in the return game at Whitewater.

I read the same.  Sounds like the game helps CBS more than UWW, but at least it helps the 'Hawks fill out their schedule given there aren't many takers in D3.

TGP,

Before 1993 the teams in the WSUC (before they changed to the WIAC) didn't have as much problems scheduling due to the fact that UW-Superior still had a football team.

If it's any consoloation, even in D3 Men's Basketball, with plenty more teams to choose from, Eastern Mennonite was left to fill their 2010-11 schedule with NAIA games only to not be granted a Pool C slot while sitting on the bubble.  If those games had been winnable D3 games, EMU would've likely made it into the Tournament.  There is always an odd man out if schedules aren't finalized earlier -- and even then, you have to worry about teams backing out of agreements.

Wesley has been e-mailing schools all over the country to fill its schedule and Hobarts AD sent a response stating that they had two common open dates. Unfortunately Hobarts head coach put the kabosh on the game. To bad. It could give the eastern teams a measuring stick against one of DIII top teams.

I feel your pain

Who said it Sheen or Gaddafi?   JT got 6 out of 10.

Sheen or Gaddafi quiz

TGP only got 5 of 10.

I looked over that 'quiz' and decided to not even bother trying - I felt fairly certain on two, but would be a total guess on the rest.  Perhaps trained psychiatrists can tell one from another, but to me all paranoid psychotics sound the same! :o ;)

I resemble that remark...

Teams like UWW and Wesley are in a tough spot for sure.

That said, based on additional inquiries I made, PA_W's assessment isn't exactly how it went down.

Who knows?  At this point Hobart's in a tough spot and may have to come back to Wesley before long anyway (assuming Wesley hasn't filled out their schedule like UWW and other schools have).

Besides, there's no way a 7-1 team makes the NCAAs (assuming Hobart loses one LL game) if there are 8-1 and/or 9-1 (even 8-2) teams on the board.

I think it would be great if UWW could get a game with a team from the LL or E8.  I don't know if WW has ever played a team from the North East.  When I played we flew Livingstone college (North Carolina) in for a one time game to fill our schedule but they were DII.  Usually it was Iowa, Ill., Ohio, Ind. for NC games.

Again, the NCAA needs to provide incentives (both financial recoupment potential and new Selection Committee criteria/indices) in order for games like the Wesley/Hobart or UWW/Hobart to even be considered.  I'd LOVE to see these games played prior to the playoffs.  The fans, the players and everyone else involved deserve these types of matchups.

It feels strange to hear people saying 'great post' because I don't think all that much of what I said. A lot was opinion and a lot was common sense. Many of RPI's 'supporters' refuse to face the facts. I've been painted as a 'bad guy' for having an opinion in the past few years where the bottom line is that LewDogg just wants his team to dominate. If that disrupts people's personal feelings then that's too bad. Maybe you're heart is with a person and not the program if that bothers you.

At the end of the day, I want to see RPI at it's best, followed by the entire LL at it's best. I think Hobart's coach has done a TON with a little in recent years, but I think Union and RPI have fumbled some amazing talent. Maybe, just maybe, they both need some new blood.  For RPI's sake, I hope Union does nothing. For the LL and D3, perhaps I feel differently.

Either way, leprechauns visit us all this month so enjoy any delicious nectars the God's may offer. Slainte.

UW-Whitewater reached out to Delaware Valley a couple years ago. But the Aggies couldn't afford the return trip to Wisconsin so it didn't happen.
