Terrible loss for RPI and the LL football community.  Thoughts and prayers to the Rocque family during this difficult time.

It is now the 2nd week of March.  Will a new RPI Head Coach be named, or will the RPI Admin throw up more smoke and mirrors?

In all seriousness, the last I heard was that an offer was either made or imminent -- so, the timing may still be accurate.

Sorry to reenter the LLPP world on a sad note.

A former RPI FB player ('11) in his Sr. year has passed unexpectedly.

Cole Rocque was a friend of my sons and had many RPI teammates as close friends.  I understand he was a great kid and my thoughts go out to his family, friends and the RPI FB community.

dlip is very sorry for this unexpected loss. His thoughts and prayers go out to the family.

This Friday the #4 ranked Union College Hockey Dutchmen welcome the upstart Colgate Red Raiders to Schenectady for a second round ecac best of three battle. dlip is quite happy with the Dutchmen and their steady growth over the past few years. Nate Leaman has worked wonders in Shocktown with limited resources.

By the way, dlip is scared ****less of 'Gate.' This team comes into Messa Rink at Achilles Center looser than Pamela Anderson's...well you get what dlip is saying. After knocking off the Engineers this Red Raider team has nothing to lose and everything to gain. Regardless of the outcome the Dutchman have a legitimate shot at making the tourney. If you ask dlip, a series win this weekend should all but lock Union into their first visit to the NCAA tourney.

*Anyone have a direct phone line to the head of ECAC hockey? This m'fer needs his ****ing head rearranged sending the ECAC final four to Atlantic City. dlip has never, ever, seen a more porous move by any commissioner in all of sports.

Agree dlip, strong year for the Skating Dutchmen (best ever, in fact). As to Colgate, I'd sure as hell rather play them than RPI in the Quarters.

Did not know about the Atlantic City move, AC aint exactly Vegas, so I'm not sure that hockey fans will make the extra drive.

Dlip - Union Hockey is already pretty much a lock for the NCAAs.  They are tied for sixth in the Pairwise (PWR) Rankings.  The cutoff line will be somewhere between teams ranked 11th through 15th (likely 13th or 14th).  Two losses to a single team will not knock your PWR that far, that fast.  It's safe to assume Union is in.

The move by the ECAC in the Hockey Semis/Final mimics the move that the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference made about a decade ago when they moved the conference tournament to Trenton, NJ.  The epicenter of MAAC basketball is definitely much higher north than that location (and, Trenton isn't exactly basketball city).  Within a year, they moved the tournament (partially due to some other circumstances) back up to Albany (where it's remained since).  Sure, Atlantic City has the tourism flair when compared to Trenton, but no team in ECAC Hockey is south of Atlantic City geographically (Princeton is the closest, and Yale is the next closest).  It is almost like when the Stagg Bowl took place in Florida or Alabama:

Something just seems odd about the location in that video...

And since it's public info on their site:

ECAC Hockey Commissioner:

Actually e-mailed Steve and received a very respectable response from him this morning. dlip is still very unhappy with Mr. Hagwells decision but at least he respects the man for responding and stating his position very clearly.

It is now March 14, 2011.  Coach King stepped down 49 days ago, and RPI still does not have a head football coach.

dlip has been out of the loop. Are there any serious candidates or is the athletic admin sitting on their hands? dlip isn't quite sure how this porcess works.

Well, as of ~Feb 12th, the 'timeline' given was a selection of candidates by the committee within about 2 weeks, then the finalists would be submitted to the President with an official announcement in the first 2 weeks of March.  I guess 'technically' speaking, today is March 14th, so today would mark the last day of the second week of March.

I heard that all potential recruits have committed to WPI and Union already so we might as well wait until August at this point.

RPI will still be able to take the kids who could not get in to Union though....

Every now and again, U89 opens his mouth and completely ruins his credibility.
