Here's to avoiding 0-6.....

dlip thinks the sox will be fine, although he did not see this poor of a start coming.

TGP hopes that's the case but check out this Stark blog which confirms:

No AL team that started 0-5 has EVER made the playoffs

Come one now guys.  Just a few short years ago, they used to say that no team ever came from an 0-3 deficit to win a playoff series.  Let's not be too shortsighted.  Never has there been an 8 vs. 11 matchup in the NCAA tournament final either...

The Sox are loaded.  They will be just fine.  It's not like starting 0-4, 0-5 in the NFL.  BIG difference.  They are an offensive team, and offensive teams historically tend to play better once the weather warms up a bit.  By the end of May, no one will even remember this.

LD drove by the Endicott campus this morning, as he just moved about 15 minutes away, and got excited for about 10 seconds thinking maybe he could catch a convenient RPI game there this year...when suddenly he realized, they no longer play Endicott.  I've been waiting years for that series to be over, and now that it is, it is an inconvenience.  Bring on Castleton St.  Yeee hawwww...

Agree but TGP is watching Carmona (he with the 10.80 ERA) hold the Sox to 2 hits so far in today's matinee....TGP does have some faith that with warmer weather and few Ws the Sox will turn it around.

k+ on mr roboto

...and the sox lose on a suicide squeeze and Dmac thrown out at 3rd to end a 1-0 game.....0-6.

The Rev is now married.
We finished the last form this morning at the Shadow Island Borough Office at around 11:30.
Mrs. Rev is stoked. The Rev is a little sad not to be able to give his beautiful little bride a humdinger of a wedding, but that's just the way life is sometimes.

New due date for Lil' Rev is now September 11, 2011.

we hoped to make it home this summer, but with the little blighter being due in September, we are afraid of traveling so near the due date. Also, it is incredibly hard to get a visa into the USA; not to mention expensive.

Not to mention the skewed sample since most teams that start 0-5 (or 0-6) are terrible and thus have a miniscule chance of making the playoffs even if they start out 6-0.  Now, as a Yanks fan I couldn't be happier, but as I told my brother yesterday the Sox can easily sweep this weekend and not a single Sox fan would be upset about the 0-6 start.  Even going 2-1, the Sox will only have to make up 1 game every 2 months the rest of the way to catch the Yanks.  Way too soon for any hysterics and usually a big series (like Yanks or the home opener) are enough to turn around a team's fortunes.  Makes today's game very interesting, though.

Even as a Yanks fan dlip feels the Sox may just clean house this weekend. Welcome back to the NorthEast Lew. You were down South weren't you? What is the reason for the move? dlip hopes it went well for you, he ****ing hates moving. For dlip, it is one of the most annoying things he has ever done. Congrats Rev!

Yeah, moving sucks.  I've now done it twice in the last 5 months.  We were with in-laws for 5 months, and just finally moved to our own place.  Lots of boxes to unpack.  Hopefully we're here atleast for a few years.

As far as 'why?' for the move...It was just time to come back.  The Southern hospitality experiment was only supposed to last 3 years, and it lasted 5.  But I definitely miss it.  This weather here  sucks, people are mean, and the girls down south are MUCH better to look at.  And the beach water is 40 fricking degrees!!!

pg04

My Southern Hospitality experiment has lasted 7 years, and will probably last 4 more at least!  I definitely like it down here.

I wish it were football season  >:( (and I think this is my first post outside of the politics board in months!)

TGP thought Socal would be a one year deal and yet here he is 12 yrs and counting...

One of TGP's old bosses asked him if he'd consider moving to TX.  Not sure TGP could see that happening unless they "show me the money"....

lewdogg11

Well, all things considered, i'd probably still be down south, if not in NC then somewhere else, or on the West coast, but Mrs. LD wanted to be back up here, so we compromised and got a place where we can atleast see the beach from our balcony...

labart96

Interesting.  Mrs TGP is the opposite - she's originally from FL and has been in LA since after college.  Needless to say she is not a fan of NE winters or pretty much anyplace that gets a lot of snow (other than ski resorts, of course)....
