Pretty Cheap Best Buy.

Since when does Best Buy sell water anyway?

Has anyone ever actually lost their ability to get tap water from a storm like this?

Oddly enough, I fell victim to buying water.  I went on Saturday and was laughing as some dude was piling like 12 cases into his pickup truck.  I got in there, and it was 3 cases for $11.  But there was a little note that you MUST buy 3 cases.  So I did.  Fooled again!!!  Damnitt!

Yes, if you use a well located on your property, the pump won't work when the power goes out.

dlip...thanks for the comments. RT is happy to be back! Check out the show this Thur to catch the Mike Hermann/RPI interview conducted by RT. SRT was impressed with his maturity. RT also caught the practice that day and had a good convo with coach Landis (not recorded). There will be plenty of analysis on the ITH kickoff show!!

While I was prepared to boycott the boards after last week's fight with Pat, I was just sobered by some incredibly sad news.

A fraternity brother of mine from Union -- and someone I was good friends with even though we lost touch a bit since he moved to California -- Seth Kline, is being taken off life support tonight after being hit by a tree while clearing another tree away from his car's path in or around New Hampshire yesterday.  He sustained severe brain and back injuries, and surgery could only remove swelling from his brain.  A ventilator is likely the only thing keeping him breathing faintly, but that will be removed tonight by direction of his family.

Seth was really excited about his trip back East -- he had a list of travel plans to see friends all around New England and New York that he posted on Facebook.  While he got to accomplish some of those plans and likely had some great last days, it's a loss that didn't need to happen.  There are two things that jump immediately to mind:

1) For those who think precautions went overboard this weekend for the storm, I think something like this wakes us up to the uncertainty and danger these storms provide.  Maybe we were inconvenienced, but we're alive to tell about it at the end of the day.  Seth very well might not be by tomorrow morning; and

2) Life is too short.  We go at each other here in the name of college football, and yes, it gets personal.  And yes, I'm very guilty of it.  I'm sorry for that.  I do like to challenge people to at least argue outside the box a bit, but it doesn't always succeed and ends up devolving into some of the worst rantings that we've seen.  Even when that happens, take a step back and laugh it off (normally, I do so except when things got a little odd between Pat and me Friday night).  I always say people here take me too seriously -- I'm just a 5'9" geek who took to the sport of football when he was a kid, even though he couldn't play waterboy, let alone a position on a team.  I haven't ever lost that perspective.  I just always want people to remember their own perspective of respect and politeness when they are on here.  We are talking about people's kids and siblings and friends on here -- I never would want to have to watch my own child get ripped apart the way some of us have seen on these boards, public figures or not.

Please send your prayers to Seth and his family.  He's about four years younger than me, which is way too young to die.  I'm sorry for the emotion in this post, but this one really caught me off guard.

A nice post Frank and dlip sends his condolences. Was Seth local in regards to Old Dorp? It's funny dlip was just picking up some **** from the storm on his front lawn and began to complain to himself, "**** this, **** that..etc" Then he caught himself and realied just how lucky he is, and we all are really. We have all experienced some difficult challenges in life, but sometimes they do put things into perspective. Funny enough we are all so different on here, come from different places, backgrounds, socioeconomic positions, etc. Yet one thing we all have in common is this great web site that is dedicated to the specific sport (and level of that sport) we love. We all spend a ridiculous amount of time on here (at least dlip does) and baffle the **** out of our significant others with our passion for D3 football. That connects us in a unique way. For that, dlip is very gracious. Your post brought that out and gave dlip some simple perspective. Now dlip is going to change a poopy diaper :). You guys should just let that debate go and get right back into the boards discussing the **** we love; D3 football.

He's from, if memory serves, Northeast Mass.  He graduated from Union I believe in 2002.

Yes.  When I lived in West Palm Beach.  Actually 3 times.  I got hit by 3 category 3 hurrricanes between 2004 and 2005.  The Water not working for a week in the city.  It sucks.  The water is important for more than just drinking as well...

While we're not at the enforcement stage of the investigation, I have to be honest that the findings to this point seem rather light, and the penalties appear to be the same.  Is it possible that the NCAA can't make complete connections to Shapiro's supposed relationships with Miami players?
