He's been flying under the radar here, but Andrew Lovell has been writing some excellent "Around the East" columns this season.  This week's is no different.  I encourage you all to read his material:

Pep has an AAS degree in journalism from SUNY Morrisville, where he enrolled to learn the art of sportswriting and was pleased to have a professor who shared his love for sports, albeit as an avid Michigan State Spartan and Detroit Tiger fan.

Pep also applauds Andrew Lovell's work. Pep particularly appreciated the "You all didn't  forget about Alfred...did you?" line. Of course, Pep would much rather everyone did just forget about Alfred.  ;)

Who can forget about Batman's butler, Pep?!  We get a movie every few years to remind us...

Talking about Sparty are we now Pep? I see how it is.  ;) I expect Kirk Cousins will deliver an impassioned, well-articulated speech in defense of the green and white shortly.

As Notre Dame fan (still hanging on at this point...pretty sick, I know...), I will be anxiously awaiting another last second meltdown by the Irish this weekend against the Spartans.  I am guessing the final stats will include something of the effect of 500+ yards in total offense, 6 turnovers, and blowing another 17+ point lead that they had late in the 3rd...

It's funny that you think ND will ever be leading MSU, to say nothing of doing so by 17 points.  ;D

I have a friend...a journalism prof at Mooville in fact....that makes the trip to East Lansing each year to visit that particular professor and attend a game.

Ah yes, small world! While that friend of yours no doubt arrived in Mooville after Pep's departure, Pep met said J-school prof at the program's 40th anniversary. Now Pep has a few regrets....that he didn't end up writing a chapter for In Our Own Words (The First 40 Years of the Morrisville College Journalism Program). Pep has a few stories to tell. In fact, Pep is addressing a couple of communications classes at AU today! Just call him "Professor Pep"!

Incidentally, Pep's Mooville j-school prof always called Pep "Alfred"!

I think Ithaca will win, but I'm not sure they could come up with 28 points if they had eight quarters...

If they come up with 28 points, the defense will probably have scored half of them

It's going to be interesting to see how this game unfolds. For as much as dlip feels he knows about both squads (lack of QB, atrocious secondary, young RB's, great D, etc) dlip doesn't think he knows **** because he has a feeling this game's story line may go against all we know. Anywhooo dlip is looking for a nice, enjoyable, and entertaining first game of the 2011 season at Frank Bailey against an excellent rival and program in Ithaca College.
