Come out for The Shoes.  Should be a good 55-54 affair at this pace...

I would but Paulie would probably call the cops on us again for drinking beer in a bar.

We have other alcohol-serving establishments for your adult-beverage pleasure...

PA - that whole post was a bit tongue-in-cheek, so don't think I'm completely off my rocker.  However, that said, I saw Strang a year ago and Strang this year, and he wasn't as nearly in sync as he was last year against a defense in Union that may be equivalent to last year's defense.  Without that Woodard pass at the end of the half (which, after watching it on the HWS highlights, confirmed my notion that the DBs for Union didn't think Hobart was going to be throwing at all in the final two minutes -- bad call), he would've passed for just 100 yards.  He plain missed Muratori on a few occasions, and the interception was thrown directly to the Union defender.

All in all, Strang is a very good QB, and I can definitely appreciate what you said about no real example for him to play behind, etc.  My concern is more that this final stretch will be a challenge for especially him since he's never faced that sort of stretch week to week, with RPI and Rochester at the end of the stretch proving to be, I think, their toughest two-game stretch of the 2011 season (more because of RPI and Mike Hermann's offensive ability than Rochester, but I feel like Rochester is going to try to throw their own kitchen sink at them at that point -- granted, the Rochester inconsistency this year has been pretty painful for fans).  The difference between 8-0 and 7-1 could be the difference between a visit to Mount Union in the first round and the right to host a first-round game, so the margin for error for Hobart is razor thin as things are panning out -- they've got to stop turning the ball over, as you would point out, especially early in games.  Let's see next week if the handicapping trend I pointed out does continue and the team bounces back with less mistakes against MMA.

If anyone is interested, you are free not to be, here is a video on YouTube of Baby Rev.
Sadly, Mrs. Rev forgot to put him in his Hobart suit. Next time.

I intended to watch for just a few seconds, but ended up watching your little guy wiggle for the whole 66 seconds.  Hopefully he's that chill all the time.  Congrats and +K.

Thanks, Kaz. From what I experienced in my week together with him, he is a very good little boy. I could only get to the Philippines a week after he was born and spent 9 days trying to get about three months worth of cuddling in. (Mrs. Rev and Baby should be able to come back home from Philippines in December or January.)

He only rarely screams like a cat in heat. When he does, he's either hungry or just frustrated that his two cousins won't keep their hands off of him. It's a case of loving him too much and they're too young to know when to back off and let the baby have some peace. Mrs. Rev is doing an admirable job, but I have to credit her older sister and mother for really knowing how to handle the baby and teaching Mrs. Rev what to do. God bless them. I don't mind sending money to the Philippines now that I see how much work they do for us.

I'm sorry, but this sort of made me LOL:

And we thought Salisbury/Frostburg were rediculous in the E8!  I guess the SCAC teams left without a conference can lineup to keep the E8 Pool A eligible in a couple years.

Good luck to the union college football Dutchmen today up in canton. Hopefully the u can come away with a big v today! Lets hope for an injury free contest for both sides and great game. Union must contain Marcus Washington to be successful today.

SLU up 6-3 over Union at the half.  Ugly game it sounds like, windy and rainy.  SLU's running game has gotten going in the second quarter, with Marcus Washington racking up 94 yards in the first half.  Neither team has been able to do much through the air.

Union's win over SLU yesterday is interesting considering the the tale of the stats. Prior to this game, dlip was certain the ground game was going to be somewhat close (with Washington holding the edge) but regarding the passing game, dlip did not even think SLU's #'s would come close to Union's. Obviously there are some factors to consider here, #1, the ****ing weather. The weather clearly limited offensive options and confidence regarding the passing game. Honestly, to dlip who was listening, he was nervous every time the ball was snapped. Keeping the weather in perspective, Drew still seemed to struggle a bit but came up big and clutch when he needed to. This kid has really come into his own after a very difficult year personally last year and dlip is very proud of him for it. On top of this Union's passing TD, and TD scoring drive for that matter, Union got some big plays from receivers not named Gallo. This is no knock to Justin or his brother, but to dlip, provides him hope for the future and shows the depth Union has at this position. It's ****ing beautiful to see Union utilizing the TE position for something other than just blocking. Zavadsky has been excellent this season and Tim Hershey (FB) has also given the Dutchmen an alternate air option other than the WR's. To dlip, this game was won on turnovers and Union College heart.

Overall to dlip, this is a great win for Union College this year. These kids have really dug deep after dealing with a 9 game winless streak (unheard of in Garnet land) and overcoming an 0-3 start as a follow-up to the worst Union Football season in 30 years. The pressure coming from alum, fans (dlip included), and former players is mounting and these kids have responded. Is this team reminisant in any way of the Union teams of old? No, but they certainly are giving it everything they have and are carving out an identity of their own. This team has heart, has guts, and has some talent. Their weaknesses are obvious and ones dlip will continue to be critical of and point out without hesitation. He will be critical of poor coaching decisions and player shortcomings that are consistently exploited by the opposition. Yet he will always support the student athletes on this Garnet squad and will always attempt to focus more on the positive than the negative. What is in store for the Fighting Dutchmen for the rest of the 2011 season? Hopefully a convincing win over rival RPI in two weeks. Hoepfully W's right through the end of the season that will help carry some momentum into 2012. Regardless, dlip will continue to sit, with his father, on the side of the hill next to the frat house, where dlip and Mr. dlip have been sitting for over 25 years bleeding Garnet and supporting the Union College Football Dutchmen!

Agreed dlip. Certainly not where any of us want to be, but these are the types of games that you have to win to start to turn this ship around. I was happy with the Hobart game as well.

And of course, I love the loyalty, +K to you and Mr. dlip (I prefer dlip sr. ).

Nice job fellas, dlip loved the highlights sprinkled in there between the commentary. dlip is especially happy with the INT by Union at the end of the game. With the defense struggling the way it has, but continuously working hard, it's great to see them end a close game on a big defensive play. Now it's time to get ready for the Shoe. To dlip (he'll say this 2,000 times before the 29th is upon us) this years Shoes game is Union's NCAA playoff. This game is huge this year and for those of us who have been around the program for so long, in Union's current situation, nothing would be better than defeating RPI in two weeks right here in Shocktown.

Agreed. Aside from the significance of the Shoe's all by itself, the other thing a win would do is make a .500 season probable, assuming that they should beat Kings Point, and lose the Springfield game. A .500 season would be a nice step forward after last years season.
