I disagree Frank.  The No Homers Club always comes first.

IDK, I've always felt we on the board separate the player from the person. For example, it's impossible to separate the Bombers' struggles from poor offensive line play. So technically, that could be me construed as ripping a player, but really, I just view them as "The guys who play on the offensive line." Sure, I know their names, but honestly, they're no different in my world than say, a character on a TV show. That sounds dehumanizing, but what can you do? Sports are a results business, and I think players understand that.

I think that's a nice way of putting it, Bombers.  It's perfectly fair to point out that a player and/or position group struggled in a game without demeaning them as people.  I don't think anyone gets that upset if a fan says something like "We lost the game because our QB couldn't handle the pass rush"  or "Player X has really struggled these last few weeks" - those are fair observations.

At the opposite end of the spectrum, I do think it's fair to get bent out of shape if someone starts taking unprovoked shots at a guy's character.  I tend to chuckle at armchair-QB types that blast NFL players in a completely unrealistic fashion.  When I was in college, I remember talking to a 5'8" 145 pound diehard Jets fan that was absolutely CONVINCED that he could have kicked Chad Pennington's @$$.  He never stopped complaining about what a pussy Pennington was, and how weak his arm was, et cet.  I really don't think he understood that Pennington was 6-3, 220 pounds, stared down an NFL pass rush every Sunday, and probably could have broken his nose with a pass from 15 yards away.  I once told the guy this, and suggested that if he was in a room with Pennington, he might not be so quick to repeat his remarks...and he retorted that he surely would because Pennington was such a wuss that he wouldn't do anything.  There's just no reaching some people.

What's confusing is that gray "middle area" where you're criticizing a player or calling for him to be benched, even if you leave personal attacks out of it, because at that point you're blurring the line between "supporting your team" and "critiquing your team."  I'm a huge Eagles fan, and I can't believe how many people are suggesting that Andy Reid should be fired if the Eagles don't reach the playoffs this season with EIGHT GAMES TO PLAY.  Shouldn't we (as fans) just be rooting for our team to win the rest of the games, and then evaluating our coaches' status in the offseason?
I was small but made up for it by being slow...

Jonny has obviously read my book, "How to Lose Friends and Alienate People."  He's doing it better than me this morning.  DAAAAAAAMNNNN!

PBR is a good dude and one of the funniest guys on here.  But he has the foggiest green and yellow colored glasses (And aggie horns) when it comes to Del Val.

If you want to keep explaining things that don't make sense in pictures, so be it.  I still think you are one of the biggest homers on this website.

Actually they do make sense but you have to think....anywho was having fun w/ that last year trying to stir up a hornets nest to get people to post and liven the place up a little. Only Dlip took the bait...most of us have moved onto other forums to keep up with each other. Only randomly really check here anymore maybe once a month a once every couple of months. BTW we in reality we are all homers for our schools....

Well I get the pictures, but I don't know how I failed on the last one, unless you really were  were just having fun trying to stir up a hornets nest last year.  It just didn't read that way to me thats for sure.

And we are all homers sure, but I still think you are a bigger one than most.  I could be wrong if you are just messing with us like you say you are.

Sorry... no Homers.

Look people, this is serious stuff. If we're going to invoke the Simpsons, let's do it right.

A belated RIP for Joe Frazier. You're either an Ali guy or a Frazier guy, I was always a Frazier guy. This quote from Ali after the "Thrilla in Manilla" always stuck with me:

"I heard some-thin' once. When somebody asked a marathon runner what goes through his mind in the last mile or two, he said that you ask yourself, Why am I doin' this? You get so tired. It takes so much out of you mentally. It changes you. It makes you go a little insane. I was thinkin' that at the end. Why am I doin' this? What am I doin' in here against this beast of a man? It's so painful. I must be crazy. I always bring out the best in the men I fight, but Joe Frazier, I'll tell the world right now, brings out the best in me. I'm gonna tell ya, that's one helluva man, and God bless him."

Nice one Doid. I'm an Ali man myself, but that quote sums it up.

KS met Smokin Joe once at Larry Holmes Commodore Inn in Phillipsburg NJ.  It was after a Tyson fight in AC and Larry Holmes, Smoking Joe and several other boxers came in.  Joe greeted and talked with everyone, bought a round of drinks for the entire bar and then started to hit on all the women, Joe was pimpin that night.  He was a nice guy that loved living.

RIP Smokin Joe.

PS  KS was a Smokin Joe fan, loved his fighting style.

I'm Italian.  True Italian families will always tell you that you support your family publicly no matter what and kick asses behind closed doors.  When you're close enough to a football program that you support them, are known and feel comfortable coming back at will, that team is like a family.  The most I would publicly say about my parents is that they occasionally can be pains in my ass at 73/74 years old -- but that's it and whose parents aren't?  Complaints and issues with the team/family are better accomplished behind closed doors just to avoid damaging your own rep inside the family, I've found.

I'm 25% Mexican.  We do roofs and yard work.

How is everyone??  Can you believe that yet another season is almost over?  Where is the time going?

Yeh, but did they talk about the quality of their roofing work to anyone outside of the family? I didn't think so.

Strange LLPP this year, hope it gets better next year. Hell, the NESCAC board has had more activity.
