Hats off to Hobart for a tough game against Wesley today.  Your defensive line and quarterback really gave Wesley some competition!  Well done and good luck next year!

props go out to hobart.  they showed up and played a very tough game today.  took advantage of everything that wesley did wrong and stayed in the game until the end.  the coaching staff did a great job of finding ways to pressure mcsweeney and except for the fact that the d backs couldnt match wesley's speed they did a great job.  it would seem that the inability to kick field goals or the choice not to hurt them in the end.  a very tough team and effort today, not nearly as talented as wesley is, but probably deserved to win the game.  as i said, turnovers will be the equalizer and they sure were today.  certainly represented the LL well today.  i was very impressed with the spirit of the players and how they did not back down or quit when they went down 14 - 0.  congrats again on an excellently played game.

frank, you are right they did not have a snowballs chance unless wesley played the way they did today.  that is why they play the games, if not, just send mount and uww to the stagg.  i dont run from my opinions and if wesley plays a clean game this would have been a blow out.

You're putting words in my mouth, wesleydad.  That was your quote (re: snowballs), not mine.  I had low expectations, but I've been touting the Hobart defense all season, especially since the SJF game.  The only weakness seemed to be the DBs deep, and that's how Wesley won today.  I thought Wesley would win by more, but as you said, it's why we play the games.  Good luck down the road.

[EDIT:  Your actual quote was "Hobart has no chance."  I guess I dreamed of the snowball.  :-)]

Wesley fans, do you know if your school will be offering the Linfield-Wesley game free online?

Stayed up (2am in Korea) to listen to the Hobart-Wesley game. Heard Hobart's first drive and that was enough. Good night. The Rev is going to sleep.

Rev, seriously, you're letting your emotions get the best of you.  It was, if it's possible to call a game this, the best loss I've ever seen for your team.  It's as close to a moral victory as you can get with guys like wesleydad having suggested Hobart didn't have a snowball's chance in hell of winning.  Hats off to your team.
It's not as bad as it sounds, Frank. Think of it this way as an investment of your time, for which your time has a premium. All reports say that Wesley is going to crush Hobart. The portion of the game I listened to, Hobart did poorly. By the time I brushed my teeth and climbed into bed And checked live stats (with hope) we were down 0-14 at the start of the second quarter. You're telling me you wouldn't go to bed?  Maybe it's true that I'm not hard core enough of a fan, but it's now 10 am, I've had nearly 8 hours of sleep and now off for the reverential business of the day. Mass at 11, followed by counting the collection.

Wish we were not 14 hours ahead. The Rev can't keep staying up until 5 every Sunday morning to listen to games. Frank, the only game I listened to the whole way through was RPI. All of the rest, I went to bed after kick off and the first drive. Wait...I stayed up for most of MMA, but even that one I turned of at some point and hit the hay. This time zone thing is killing me.

First thing I did this morning when I woke up was check the score.  The Rev was VERY pleasantly surprised. Very proud of Hobart for doing as well as they did. The Rev feels as if they proved enough, not unlike Rocky Balboa who, just by lasting the entire fight, scored a moral victory even if losing the decision. I have no complaints about Hobart's performance (just complaints about time zones, and that's not their fault).

The DO.C. hopes Hopart does not feel too badly come tomorrow. Valiant effort. Would have been pleased to host you.

steel, unfortunately wesley does not offer video, wish they did.  i dont know if linfield would do the away game, but if it is in linfield then the game will be on video.  i have watched some of linfield's games and they are good on computer.

No, but if Wesley travels to Linfield, I believe they will (having watched Linfield beat CLU).

Oppposing teams generally create turnovers but it seems you would rather say Wesley made a mistake than admit Hobart may have forced one.  I have enjoyed your posts and your honesty but you do seem to be having a hard time giving Hobart the credit they are due.  I live 15 minutes from Geneva NY and have watched many Hobart games, they are tough, talented and never quit as witnessed today.
The final two possessions by Hobart they drove the ball right down the field and inside the 5 yard line.  Wesley's D did a great job of keeping them out.  Hobart was dealing with injuries and still Wesley a helluva game.  I have a hard time seeing a blowout between these two teams.

My Gramps used to say  " When if and buts become candy and nuts every darn day will be Christmas"  I am not really sure what he means,  probably aplies here.

cardinal, gave hobart plenty of credit.  i posted the turnover breakdown on the east region playoff thread i think.  here it is, hobart gets credit for the int, nice play by the lineman, and of course the blocked punt.  all 4 fumbles were miscues by wesley, no hits at all on the play by hobart.  they are tough and i said that, just not sure which post.  they could have easily won the game.

Great effort by Hobart today. You made the LL proud! Dlip is very pleased you were the LL's representative!
I'll second that. Made the LL'rs stand a little prouder today.

Wesleydad,  the problem with your posts is that you make it seem like wesley is the only team that can stop themselves and they fumbled regardless of what the other team does.  I'm sure hobart had some guys on the bench that have more talent than the guys on the field but don't play because they make mistakes that the players on the field don't make.  Maybe if hobart played those guys today they would have won?

wesleydad

jonny, i guess it is all how you read it.  i say what i saw,  wesley fumbled the ball without any contact from hobart, that would be a wesley mistake, thus they stopped themselves.  nice play by d lineman on the int and great punt block, mistakes by wesley caused by hobart.  credit to hobart for making the plays.  not sure how hobart playing guys not as good as the guys on the field would have changed the result of the game.
