And say what you want about the NBA and how people are losing interest.  I just went on the Celtics website to see if they had any tickets for the Knicks game in March and the entire place is sold out in an hour for that game.  I assume they are saving some seats for later release, but it tells me that they are getting full price for a bunch of games already.

God, dlip misses Union football already :'(
Then time to turn your attention to the Skating Dutchmen dlip, currently ranked #11 in the country, and coming off of a 5-2 win over RPI (in one of the greatest holiday tournament names I've heard, the Festivus Faceoff. Brilliant).

How can it be the Festivus Faceoff if it's not played on December 23rd?

Because it's Festivus for the rest of us.

Right on Doid! dlip has been following the Skating Dutchmen and has been quite impressed with what he has seen thus far. Considering the loss of Kinkaid (who continues to prove his worth with the Albany Devils of the AHL), Union has proven to be quite a decent team on a national level. There is still some inmaturity there, and a lot of room for growth, but dlip believes this team will do well. The win at Michigan (after attending the Michigan/Ohio St football game) was very impressive and one for the ages for Union. Plus taking into account dlip remembers the first 10-15 years or so of Union hockey at the D1 level. The level of player just wasn't up to par on a consistent basis (no fault of their own) and Union just could not compete unless they were completely senior heavy.

*The icing on the cake has been U's ****ing domination of RPI. dlip has learned to respect and even support, at times, RPI football. Unfortunately, it will be a dark day in you know where, before he will ever have anything positive to say about RPI's hockey program ;). Can't get better than a non-scholarship D1 hockey program ****ing dominating it's full-scholarship crosstown rival year in and year out. RPI is a ****ing disaster and dlip ****ing loves it. Is this dlip being bitter for years past? Yes. Is this dlip being immature? Yes. Is this dlip being just outright unreasonable and pathetic? Yes.  dlip could give two ****s, he loves it! Those fans in Troy must need ****ing diapers every Fri and Sat night! Go Union!

Maybe its time for their hockey team to step up its non conference schedule like the football team has.  (Michigan was a good one I'll admit)

I don't know, I think they have a pretty good OOC schedule. Maybe not the big names like Minnesota, North Dakota, BC, BU, etc., but very good teams. #8 Western Michigan (Union tied them twice), #5 Merrimack, #7 Colorado College, #14 Denver, #20 Michigan, and RIT, Niagara, and New Hampshire. I actually consider that a decent OOC schedule.

I'm half kidding, but I do follow college hockey and I have a feeling that Union is going to drop in the rankings after their league schedule.

Since we are on the topic of college hockey.  One of the best players in the country was just thrown out of BU for an accused rape.

Agreed. Or they may tie every opponent.

In terms of college hockey (remember, there are far fewer teams than other major D1 sports), Union's OOC schedule is about as good as any out there.  Budgets being what they are, it's a pretty impressive compilation in terms of travel.  That said, the ECAC is a down league (hence why RPI considered jumping to Hockey East with Notre Dame).  Union somewhat benefitted from that down nature of the ECAC the last two seasons.  Yet, that helped propel the team to a national audience enough to give it legs in the future, even when the ECAC improves as a whole.

West Coast Fan

Congrats to Justin Gallo (Union) and Chris Bickford (Rochester) for being selected to the AFCA All American Team.

And you might see another Union/Cornell battle at the end of the season for the league championship again.

RPI is kind of crapping the bed right now.

For the way the Administration and Student Body has sucked the hockey team's azzes for years and years, they haven't put out much of a product.  Half of those guys don't even go to class, yet they walk the red carpet with their poor to mediocre year after year showings.

Dlip wants to wish all on the llpp, and the east region boards, (and their families) a wonderful holiday season and new year! Dlip values everyone on here very much. Without all of you mother****ers there would be no post patterns.

maxpower

I wonder if a 10-day hiatus is the longest in the history of the LLPP? Times are tough all over...

dlippiel

Dlip wishes everyone a happy new year!

mattvsmith

Happy New Year to you, too, Dlip...and to anyone one else out there lurking around the LLPP.
Please let's make the 2012 football season a little more exciting than 2011. There needs to be more banter besides me freaking out every time Hobart makes a mistake and Frank talking me down from the ledge.
