I say start a D4, or a D3A.......

There is a big difference between these leagues....

I've been watching you guys on this board now for a couple years.  I went and watched a number of Empire 8 games, LL games, NEFC, NESCAC, and the last year watched Midwest Conferance games.

There's a reacurring theme that many believe that there are only a chosen group of teams that have any business in the NCAA D3 Playoffs.  So why not get rid of the leagues that you don't annoint as worthy and put them down in a division they can be competitive in?

You're never going to get the NESCAC schools up to your level, nor the NEFC, ECFC, MWC, etc.  So create either a d3A or a D4.  You guys could beat each other up and have a more competitive season of games/playoffs.  The others would be more on plane with each other.

This has been discussed before, I think the thread was merged into the future of Div III thread, but I coulda thunk wrong.

It is simply the old debate that exists at all levels of sports. Believe dlip fd, it's not that anyone is sticking their noses up at anyone else. It is simply a sporting debate regarding AQ's for teams from "traditionally" weak conferences that get into the tourney over teams from much more competitive conferences that dont win their respective leagues. This argument takes place in almost all college sports at every level. Goodness a few years back you had almost everyone on here drinking purple kool aid.  :)

I agree. Honestly, it's largely philosophical and mostly, you're kind of firm in your position. Everyone's got a different view on the value of AQ's. I largely hate them, in pretty much all sports—although for some instances, I can see why they're used—but others think they're good for the game. Different strokes to move the world.

Hey fellas and grove, hope all is well with everyone during this off-season. dlip just put together a blog (a work in progress for sure) that will mostly focus on D3 Football and Union (of course). dlip will also touch upon some other **** on there as well (all sports related) throughout the off-season. dlip thinks this will be fun and maybe something that might be enjoyable (might be) for others. Feel free to check it out if you are bored. Who knows it may develop into something decent, or it may cease to exist tomorrow. Again, hope everyone is well, and dlip is looking forward to seeing two NEFC teams getting automatic bids in 2013   :P

dlip,

Love the blog. Now, update it with the Skating Dutchmen winning the ECAC tourney for the first time ever, and getting a #1 (#3 overall) seed in the NCAA Tourney!

Hopefully this week I'll get to add a few more tid-bits about the Skating Dutchmen and their rise to the Frozen Four. To me, a guy who grew up weraing number #11 in honor of the great Gil Egan, this achievement is nothing short of amazing!

maxpower

Max just wanted to pop in to congratulate the Union faithful on their appearance in the Frozen Four! It fills MP with a little East Region pride every time someone mentions Untion and the FF on 98.5's Toucher and Rich here in Boston and John Wallach says "Yes, out of Schenectady, N.Y." Between y'all, BC, the Golden Gophs, and some place called Ferris State (a large portion of which I hear is formerly incarcerated individuals), who's to say Max isn't behind the skating Dutchmen to win it all?

Now if RIT could just get their act together... maybe Coughlin can come back and coach hockey this time.
