How many LL teams play on turf?

Honestly, that's the breakdown I'd like to see for the Pride. They'd have good teams come up to IC and their offense did a whole bunch of nothing, and the only thing that seemed to change from year to year was that the game was on turf vs. grass.

Only SLU is on real grass.
Nearly all of Hobart is on real grass. Not a single student smokes turf. It gives a terrible headache.

+K.  Is that the same synthetic that got the LSU players in trouble?

Dr. Acula

I saw this today in the paper.  This kid is a pretty nice athlete.  He played in one of the best big-school conferences in Ohio so he has a good background for D3.  Hope he does well in the LL.

"Jackson football standout Cooper Merrill recently signed to play at Hobart College. A team captain and quarterback, he earned all-league, all-district and all-county honors last fall when he accounted for 15 touchdowns rushing and passing. He completed 55 percent of his passes for 821 yards, while also rushing for 1,383 yards on 237 carries."

Merrill looks like a decent player that may really develop into something special. Hard to tell before these kids get on the D3 field but this certainly seems like a very good thing for Bart and this young man. Good luck to him in has career against every opponent except Union.  :D

Typical vague/dumb......ss Canton Rep.

I could be mistaken, but my sources (my son and his friends that compete/competed against the kid) say he is going to Hobart to play LAX.......NOT football.  He was one of the most highly recruited LAX kids in Stark County, with supposedly more than a few offers.

He is a great athlete, but it was always known he was going to play LAX in college.

Hobart guys......can  you shed some light?

Merrill is definitely going to Hobart to play football. He may end up playing lax, too, because Hobart has quite a few two sport athletes.  Although it's been a couple of years, Justin Hager was very successful splitting time between both sports as was Mike Lazore.  Check out this link:  http://www.brlax.net/news.cfm - the 3/19/12 entry.  Also see

I stand corrected!  The kid is a really good athlete, who can really run.  He's not that accomplished as a passer, but then again Jackson didn't throw it that often.  It was basically him, and his RB (who is going to Witt) carrying the ball every play.  Both were very good.

Glad to see him make the "correct" choice, and continue playing football.   :D

NO worries.

Many of us who follow Hobart Football are glad to have Merrill on board. I'll be doubly glad if he chooses to play lacrosse also. I hope he lives up to expectations.

By the way, if you want to see who else is going to Hobart this coming year, check out the blog posted earlier. The blogger follows Hobart football very closely and knows much more than I do about the goings-on. My job here is just to throw irrational fits and blow gaskets whenever Hobart loses.

I'm rooting for:

Long Ding, K, Norwich, Jaguars

That's a name I can get excited about in the NFL.

It's so great to see a D3 player--especially from the Liberty League--go on to have an extremely successful football career.
Congratulations to him and to the RPI football program.

Did you play with him or play when he was the grad assistant?

I was freshman the year he left actually, but my brother played with him for a few years.
