Matt Patricia officially named Defensive Coordinator for the Patriots. Awesome news!!!

It's so great to see a D3 player--especially from the Liberty League--go on to have an extremely successful football career.
Congratulations to him and to the RPI football program.

Yeah, but he's still from RPI... You know, the school that's walking around barefoot currently...

Walking barefoot isn't too bad...

Looks like RPI has just nine games next year?

http://www.d3football.com/teams/RPI/2012/index
RPI always plays 9 regular season games!  They frequently pick up an NCAA or ECAC post-season game, tho'.

Pat Coleman

Just making sure they are still holding out. Not many nine-gamers left in the LL.

At least they have 5 home games.  Alfred's got a 9 game schedule and only 3 at home.  Ugh.
Check out the official card game of the AU Pep Band - Str8 Eight!

I'll be surprised if they ever have 10 games for whatever reason.  That said, with Springfield in the mix, it's a tough looking schedule for the first time in a long time, and VERY back loaded.  Opening w/ Alfred and closing with Rochester, Hobart, Springfield, and Union.  Could be an interesting season.  I wouldn't mind seeing a mid-range 10th game in there, like Hartwick or even Endicott again as long as they keep a higher level team like Alfred.

dlippiel

Agreed, with the addition of The Pride, the scehdule is solid. dlip likes seeing the Engineers take on the Saxons as well. dlip is curious to see what RPI puts on the field this season. Honestly, dlip would like to see this team have some success this year. Also, congrats to former Coach King on his being selected to the RPI Athletics Hall of Fame. Very well deserving in dlip's opinion.

Pep would like to see RPI remain on the Alfred schedule. They've had some great games....the final game at ol' '86 Field, an ECAC contest on the frozen cat turd turf won by the Engineers, 34-31, with the temperature in the 20s and RPI announcers flattering Pep by calling our tuba, drum and kazoo a "band.".... the windy game of 2010 when the Engineers capitalized on the wind and AU errors to grab a 24-0 first quarter lead, only to have the Saxons, with the wind at their backs, roar back in the second and third quarters to tie the game at 24-24....only to have the Engineers, with the wind at their backs again, hit a late field goal to win, 27-24.

Pep understands that the Sept. 8 game is the third in the AU-RPI series of a four-year contract, with the Engineers scheduled to visit Merrill Field Sept. 14, 2013. With the addition of Brockport State to the E8 in 2014, depending upon the status of Frostburg and Salisbury States, AU may have eight E8 games, while RPI will have seven LL games, which may deter continuance of the series.

The series has no doubt been a delight for AU grad Stan Ren and his son, RPI grad Eric Ren.

Get the fight song ready!

I don't know, but it appears that both Salisbury University and Frostburg State contracts are set to expire and with the NJAC becoming smaller by 2014, I can only hope that the NJAC would pick up Salisbury, Frostburg St., CNU, and Wesley for football purposes.

Starting this year the NJAC is down to (9) and next year with the loss of W.Conn we will be down to (8). It would not surprise me to see B-Port and Morrisville opt out. This would take away our AQ. Salisbury and Frostburg were part of the NJAC and left. Travel is tough. I have always wanted Wesley in the NJAC but the (100) limit roster makes it impossible. Don't know about CNU. Should be interesting. I could see Frost and Salis back if certain teams jump.
It ain't over till it's over, and when you get to the fork in the road, take it.

Brockport is already going to the E8 in 2014

I heard around that Wesley was willing to go on the road to play its 10th game. I know both Alfred and Wesley have an open date on Septemeber 29th.

While I know the timing is shocking, the opportunity for Falbo and his family is reportedly a great thing.  Remember that he was still "Interim" Head Coach -- this new opportunity from a new program provides certainty for him.  It should not be seen as any kind of slight to RPI.

Bodor comes along with extensive D3 coaching experience at Colorado College prior to the school eliminating the program due to budgetary reasons.  He is an apt coach, and I wish him well as the team looks to bounce back from a transitional year last year.
